Forgive me if this thread exists. There are lots :p

What if Starkiller was used on Tatooine and destroyed one of its iconic twin suns? Is that remotely within the realm of possibilities? Is there anyone among us with planetary smarts who can properly gauge the likelihood of such a scenario?

I have a feeling we'll be seeing a mirroring of the destruction of Alderaan in The Force Awakens.... most likely demonstrated by the power of Starkiller. Question becomes which planet is going kaboom-boom.

Do you think it's one of Tatooine's suns? Coruscant? Naboo? (Please don't say Naboo simply out of hatred for Jar Jar... remember, to many of us Jar Jar is life; Jar Jar is love.)

P.S. Regarding Starkiller, would it blow (see what I did there) your minds if it were in fact a weapon used by The Resistance? Could Leia and company have become so power hungry, they've ripped a page from The Empire's playbook?

Umm. Okay. Starkiller turned a desert planet into a desert planet?

Jakku existed before the battle of Jakku, which took place about a year after the Battle of Endor.
If Starkiller was in operation back then, surely the New Republic would have put a stop to it.

Thank you. That was helpful. Do you think it is being used by The New Republic? Or the First Order?

It maybe baffling to YOU, but the title of this thread says- 'Starkiller Turned Tatooine Into Jakku'. Last I checked Tatooine was a desert planet and Jakku is, well, you know.

Starkiller? The First Order... we know this because we've seen them all over it.

I really don't think there's any grand conspiracy here.
    Jakku =/= Tatooine.

A chillier desert now. Like Nevada in Fall vs Nevada in Summer.

Despite a galaxy of billions of stars, Starkiller has been programmed to only fire upon planets featured in the first six Star Wars films. So as to avoid confusing anyone. I will now paraphrase JJ.

JJ ABRAMS: We want the focus to be on the characters... not on countless details that will confuse people like the Prequels did"

    >goes and sets Act I on a desert planet that is an exact replica of Tatooine minus one sun

Without the Wampas Hoth will no longer be Hoth, it will just be a snow planet.

Without the senate building Coruscant will no longer be Coruscant, it will just be a city planet.

Without the twin suns Tatooine will no longer be Tatooine, it will just be a desert planet.

You may be on to something good sir,

no one in their right mind would call Tatooine Tatooine if it lost it's twin suns.

They would have to call it some wacky name like Jakku...

Earliest rumors for this Starkiller base said it's intention was to destroy complete solar systems. So if we do see it destroying a sun, we could see all surrounding planets get destroyed. Which would make it more effective than previous Death Stars, plus it would make for one hell of a show visually. I could possibly see a scene echoing the scene from ANH when they test out the Death Star on Alderaan. However, wouldn't the blast also affect the Starkiller weapon and blow it up, too? Unless if the Starkiller can somehow project it's death ray from anywhere in the galaxy where it won't feel the after effect of a destroyed solar system. Then again, this is Star Wars and NOT Star Trek where science matters.
