She probably earned that money. Just wonder what those Somali pirates would do if they would have 900 years worth of booty. Maz build a castle and a statue, the Somali pirates would probably order a mountain of khat and a fleet of toyata suv's

I too noticed the Maz statue. ;)
I just took it to mean Maz lived there for 100s of years & the "castle" was some kind of sanctuary for rogues, smugglers, neer'do wells, misfits, etc.
It kinda irked me that JJ & Kasdan followed the cliche bit of "hey, this place is a 1000 years old" then immediately gets destroyed by the bad guys.

    That's a MST3K joke right there! :)

PS: If you get the chance, look at the formal statue of the late US sen: Strom Thurman from SC. When you compare his appearance as a elected official in his 90s to when he had the robust tall man in marble it's a big change!

Poor Maz hasn't gotten into that stylish armor that makes her look glorious in many many years, and now she's got climbing over tables and staring into people's eyes to satisfy her now, along with a certain walking carpet.

Sith Lord or not, why does JarJar's likeness appear in both statues atop Maz' castle?
Did I miss a theory somewhere about her previous identity as Mrs. Binks?

Thank you for the welcome- although I should have probably came up with a better post with which to say "hello" shouldn't I? Ha.

Anyway, as I was watching TFA again last night, and it was the background statue which initially caught my eye as being "jar jar like."
I was trying to figure out what it was, and well... It kinda resembles the outline of a gungan.
A thought which I may have laughed off, had I not next noticed something else:
The same "it" (whatever it may be) in the background statue, is the base of the foreground statue as well... It's the part directly underneath Maz.
Of that, I'm actually quite confident- look at the pieces extending to the side of both statues. They are the exact same.
Although just a silhouette in the back statue, to me it appears Jar Jar is carrying her on his back. He is walking with his head downwards, and the toes of her feet are hidden behind his eyes from the perspective of this picture.

This would be interesting if it was true... But I'm not seeing any Gungan-like things to the sides of or in front of her statue... Is it in any of these pics? (I tried to find one from every angle...)
