    i know there is a thread already covering the battle of takodana and we know it is the location of Maz's castle but I was wondering if anyone knew anything more about this planet. It seems interesting to me that up until this point, we haven't really had a jungle planet in the fims. I know there are a few planets that come close but never a true jungle planet. What's it like? Who are the inhabitants, alien races, creatures other than Maz and her people? I've seen glipmses of this planet through the stromtrooper with speeder bike toy, possibly the latest teaser and potentially the new disney attraction?? I'm not sure to be honest and would like to know if anyone else has details. We've seen lots of jakku and a little more of the snow planet so far in the behind the scenes but not too much on takodana other than it makes you want to go eat some tacos :)

    From what has been reported, Takodana sounds a bit like the Tortuga of the Star Wars universe.
    Pirates and smugglers from across the galaxy seem to congregate there.

    There are two main exterior sets:
    - Outside Maz castle, filmed near Black Park, on a backlot of Pinewood Studios.
    - Deeper jungle/forest, filmed in Puzzlewood/Forests of Dean.
    There were also some plate shots for the X-wing sequence filmed around the Lake District.

    I don't think it will be a jungle but a Old growth forest (also termed primary forest, virgin forest, primeval forest, late seral forest, or in Britain, ancient woodland) .

    Puzzlewood forest of dean is just such a place. A popular fantasy like filming location (Merlin , Doctor Who)
    The place looks amazing , i wouldn't mind wandering around there for a bit.

    thank you all very much for the great information and for educating me on takodana. i agree that it appears to be more of an old growth forest and less of a jungle. especially when you look at the trees in the background of when poe and his squadron fly over the water and definitely when you look at the photos of puzzlewood forest

    Yeah, this doesn't seem very jungle-y to me. Looks more like Endor than Naboo or Yavin IV.

    Yeah it's totally forest not jungle. Which makes me confused between Maz location and Starkiller Base. Besides the snow, both are forest.

    I'd be surprised if Maz Kanata's planet was the same as the Resistance Base planet... but they really do seem very similar. The teaser trailer X-Wings sequence does look like it belongs on Yavin IV, and Oscar Isaac did specifically state that name...

    It would be weird if we saw two planets in TFA that were virtually identical. What if Takodana is the proper name for the fourth planet in the Yavin system?

    Wasn't there a rumor last year that were huge predators in the trees that scooped up stormtroopers and heroes alike? Was that the forest planet or the snow planet?

    And is that rumor dead now?

    Yeah I've been wondering if this is going to happen or not. Also wonder if they'll be adding anything digitally to Maz environment to make it different. Maybe they'll add something to make it differentiate it from the other. Hurry up with the trailer already!!

    Thats it. I'm gonna start a thread and b***h about how Takodana is too similar to Endor. They are both green and have trees dammit! The audience will be confused! That JJ has no imagination I tell you!
