Has anyone read the Star Wars infinities comics? They are really good. Darth Plagueis and the Han Solo trilogy are also all good novels to read, everyone should look into them!

Just picked up Timothy Zahns "Scoundrels" today. I'm planning on starting it once I'm done reading Darth Plageius.

I know this may have a little relation to future new canon but it's mostly regarding the old EU. One of the things that I hope Disney will do is deal with some favorite characters that we had in the EU and who's fates we knew that are right now just left hanging. I mean, who's dead now and who isn't? One example I like to use for this is the battle of the Great Pit of Carkoon. In the old EU, we knew for a fact that Tessek, Bib Fortuna, Bossk, Boba Fett and the Rebo Band all made it out alive yet now we don't have any idea about any of this. Now that Disney is running things, they can change everything they wish and it could be Ree Yees and Salacious Crumb who survive for all we know.

What about other characters who didn't die onscreen in other movies like Shaak Ti or IG-88? Did Prince Xezor ever exist in Disney's SW? Did Durge, Tholme or T'ra Saa? There are just so many questions that are unanswered.

Read quite a lot of the EU back in the day, but never got around to reading the Darth Bane series.

Is it worth picking it up, despite it no longer being canon? (I know Darth Bane himself is).

My top 3 favorite Expanded Universe "story-arcs" I guess you could say...

1.) Thrawn Trilogy (Marks the debut of Grand Admiral Thrawn and Mara Jade, arrival of the Solo twins and a cool fight between Luke and a Luke clone)
2.) Dark Empire Trilogy (Marks the return of Emperor Palpatine and Boba Fett and arrival of Han/Leia's newest child, Anakin Solo)
3.) Legacy of the Force Series (Jacen Solo turns to the dark side and fights his twin sister Jaina. Unfortunately, Mara Jade meets her demise)

I've finished Heir to the Empire not to long ago and now I want to pick up Dark Force Rising. I was very surprised at how good Empire was, excited to read Dark Force. But currently I'm reading Tales From Jabba's Palace.

I constantly go back to Tales from Jabba's Palace, Tales of the Bounty Hunters, Tales of the the New Republic, Tales of the Empire, Tales of the Mos Eisley Cantina. I can't forget the all time classic The Bounty Hunter Wars.

I read quite a bit of EU but there's a lot I haven't read. My favorite will always be the Thrawn trilogy though. I was 10 (almost 11) when Heir To The Empire came out and I got my hardcover of each novel the day they came out, sadly I have no clue what happened to them. But I have them in paperback form which I've worn out many times over the years. I'm almost as nostalgic about them as I am the original trilogy. And I guess since they all came out around the summer, and they kind of remind me of summers as a kid, every time that part of year rolls around I get the urge to read one or all of them.

I have a few things lined up to read, I'm currently finishing off Ian Fleming's James Bond novels then I'm going to get into some EU stuff I've been wanting to read. I haven't read Tarkin, and I plan to do that first. Then I plan to read some of the video game related books that I've been curious about. Shadows Of The Empire (played the game but never read the book), The Force Unleashed (at least the first but not sure about the second), and some of the Old Republic stuff. I enjoy the games so I'm curious to check out the tie-in books. I haven't read any of this new EU stuff, not sure I want to yet. I enjoyed TFA but not enough to replace the Thrawn Trilogy and all the old EU stuff in my head canon, plus there's still so much of the old stuff I haven't gotten around to.

I've also read my share of legend and canon books, so much so I only get the digital versions now for lack of shelf space. I might soon need another iPad haha. I have several of Flemings books as well since I'm also a huge Bond fan. Thanks for the memories.

Yeah, I've been a huge fan of the Bond movies for years, since I saw A View To A Kill in the theater as a kid, but I just now got around to reading the books. When I was a teenager I decided to read one of them and chose one of my favorite movies, The Spy Who Loved Me, to start with. Which was a big mistake as it has nothing to do with the movie, is mostly about some girl talking about her past romances, and it put me off the novels for about 2 more decades. It's been a good series though, I'm just finishing up The Man With The Golden Gun and then there's one last book with a few short stories, then I'm done and back into some Star Wars. Going to knock some out and get in the mood for the upcoming Thrawn book.

I recommend Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader by James Luceno. It is non-canon, but it can be read as a sequel to Revenge of the Sith, and it also provides backstory to some of the characters and references mentioned in Luceno's canon novel Tarkin as well. In Tarkin, Tarkin and Vader go on a mission to Murkhana. A reference is made to Vader's previous mission there, which takes place in the Legends novel Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader. The book can be considered partial-canon and features some cool Darth Vader bits that put you in the mind of his Rogue One appearance.

I have a general question for anyone and everyone. I've been meaning to dive into the expanded universe for some time, but there's so much (and it sometimes is contradictory, if understand correctly) that I haven't known where to start.

Can you all give me some recommendations? The reintroduction of Thrawn into canon has made me consider starting there, but again, if anyone has a better idea, please let me know!

I recommend getting into the Old Republic stuff if that interests you. Especially the Knights of the Old Republic comic by Dark Horse. It is the era that is most disconnected to the current canon stories now, so it's easy to imagine it happening within the official canon as well. I recommend that you check out everything by Timothy Zahn, Drew Karpyshyn, and James Luceno. There are some other great writers, but you can't go wrong getting your feet wet with these three.
