I don't know if anyone has answered your question but there are too many pages to go through. I tried uploading a closeup pic but was unsuccessful. It has a chrometrooper standing beside who I think might be Gleesons character or possibly Ren unmasked. But I'm thinking it's Gleeson.

But it might be Max. Vicar = priest = long black clothes. Just thinking out loud.

 

Could be but In the close up he has black hair and looks younger. Of course it's too fuzzy to say for sure.

Hola, first post. Long time lurker...

I was going over the second trailer on my lunch break (shot-by-shot) and became intrigued by the scene with the new stormtroopers in formation in front of the new logo. It just gave me the idea of starting a thread up here about small things you may have spotted in the background of shots!

To start it off

First of all, in the scene I mentioned above - looking at the shadowy center rear figure, they are flanked by what appears to either be imperial guards in a new colour OR potentially some kind of order of inquisitors, or straight up sith. They all wear dark robes and hold their hands in the same place just in front, somewhat religious looking.

Secondly, the formation of the troopers. They are not in straight lines, and they are not facing their leader. They appear all to be looking at something behind the camera...

So - anyone want to add to my speculation?

Fun times. I'm sure no-one needs a link to the trailer to scope things out for themselves

 

Additionally if you pause screen at 1:16 there is a nice front on shot of a new style tie-fighter.

In the scene where Kylo is force pushing/choking/whatever on the right side behind a Stormtrooper are children. At first Kylo is facing them and he suddenly turns very fast. It happens very quick in the teaser cause the ST also turn fast but and turn on their lights. The boy on the right looks as though he is yelling No

The hangar where the Tie fighter is shooting at Stormtrooper's. You can also clearly see them shooting at each other behind the Tie fighter which tells me that not only does Finn defect and escape, there are others who either have rebelled or secret agents, or something.

 

After Rey helps Finn to his feet, you can see quick movement behind (to the left), and a figure standing on the right. I believe they are in a makeshift spaceport where some ships are at (including the Falcon), and these are just other pilots / mechanics / smugglers / scavengers etc.



Kind of an obvious one but the 2 downed Star Destroyers in the teaser are definitely not the same; the 2nd one a Super which doesn't have the protruding bridge. It'd be pretty amazing to see several of these littered over an area of the planet, and I wouldn't be surprised if we see a ton more in the actual movie - We know already there's an AT-AT.



Someone in another thread posted screens of Vader's mask from the teaser, compared it to the concept art, and a screengrab from Ep. 3 and made it clear that the mask, and the "grave robber" in the hood and robotic hand holding it was on the bridge of a Star Destroyer.

 

Or a black hat.

 

so who are the 2 other peeps at the right of the gleeson looking general?

 

I can't figure out if the symbol on the giant banner is unsymmetrical on purpose or if its because there is a wave in the banner. Not sure what it is meant to look like and its bugging me.

 

Interesting observation. Especially since we had the update about the Sith General yesterday...

 

The first SD wreck is a standard Imperial I or II class ship, and the second is indeed the much larger Executor Class Super Star Destroyer. I did some comparisons of some stills from the trailer with a screen accurate SSD model I have, and I discovered that you can't see the bridge because the ship has crashed upside down. What we are looking at, is the underside of the ship.

The things I've seen in the background that have me curious, are the four roughly rectangular shaped ships in this shot that are escorting what looks to be a new kind of shuttle to a new type of star destroyer-





I wonder what they are and who they belong to (First Order or another faction/person).

 

Wow, took me a whole week just to get caught up on this thread (been a busy week). A few thoughts...

• Loved the visuals at the opening with the crashed star destroyer and x-wing. Not sure of that was a composite of props and real landscape or just the landscape and matte paintings.
• Definitely think those are Leia's hands.
• I don't think Vader's helmet is on a pedestal. You can see the tips of the mechanical fingers coming through the mouth area and they look the same as the ones touching Artoo. At first I thought he might have been lifting the helmet off of a pedestal, but now I am starting to think that what looks like a pedaestal is just part of a wall or window frame in the background.
• The TIE fighter in the hanger scene reminded me a little of the scene in the Rebels episode Fighter Flight when Zeb first stole the TIE fighter and was spinning around shooting everything.
• Speaking of that scene, was that TIE really different from the others or were we seeing it from the back with the supposed turret on the bottom spun around and shooting behind it?
• Does it mean anything that the first person we see after Luke says "you have that power too" is Poe? The voice over implies family to me, so maybe not because of his age putting home likely born before the battle of Endor, but it was one of my first thoughts regarding who he was speaking to.
• Sand crawlers on what looks like Jakku in the battlefront teaser doesn't necessarily mean Jawas. In Legends material, specifically KOTOR, the sand crawlers were brought to Tattooiine by the company that started the outpost there and it was implied that they were then taken by the Jawas after they were abandoned.

The Plagueis book has Palpatine killing Plagueis at the end but it is no longer canon. However, the Tarkin book is, and it confirms through Palpatine's thoughts that Plageuis was his master and in RotS he states that Plagueis was killed by his apprentice. There is an entire thread in here that discusses Plagueis for over 100 pages that has been going strong for months now.

I believe it has been mentioned, but one of them looks like the chrome trooper.

Edit: someone had asked if a cast list was posted with this trailer like it was with the first one. The screen on the Apple TV trailers page looked like it was the exact same as the screen for the first trailer, so the short list of cast and the longer list of cast in the full description did not change. The trailers are grouped together by movie, so it makes sense to me at least that they have the same info.

 

Idk, There are 4 of those type of people on either side with the chrometrooper in back of him and to the far right there are 2 stormtroopers with orange pads on their right shoulders.

 

I'm posting this from my phone so I can't do it but if someone can post the shot from the trailer of Rey and Finn running from the explosion as well as the similar picture shown at celebration where they are running from the explosion and just about to the ramp of the Falcon.

If you look closely at the two, BB-8 is behind Finn in the trailer but not in the other picture. Could BB-8 have raced ahead and e the reason the ramp is down in the Falcon as he may have hot wired it down?

 

Nice idea for a post. I like that instead of focusing on the trailer as a whole, it's focusing on the things one might miss.

Too add to the scene you describe, with the rally and the ton of stormtroopers going on, I'd like to mention two things. First, this is apparently a highly protected base, as it has really heavy laser cannons placed all around it. And second, alongside the figures in black you mentioned (it's been speculated that they are the First Order officers/generals, maybe "Sith" if that comes into play) there are also three stormtroopers on the stage -- the chrometrooper to the rear of the central figure, and two white-armored stormtroopers on the right side of the scene who are wearing the classic orange-colored pauldrons we last saw on sandtroopers.
