Those troop transports look like they are made to detach from another ship of some kind to me almost like escape pods. However you can see one sitting on its own on the deck of the hangar in the Tie Fighter escape scene so I'm not sure.

On the Vader mask, those aren't the finger tips of the mechanical hand poking through. That's just the mouth piece of vaders mask melted

You could be correct. It somewhat makes me think of the Phantom and the way it looks to be part of the Ghost yet can detach and fly by itself. Perhaps these can dock into larger ships like escape pods, but intended for escort duties between ships instead of just emergency escape.

You're right, there is one in the hangar scene. I didn't notice it before-

So it's possibly a troop transport?

Actually, now that you highlight it isn't it the same one that was shown either in an article here or on some thread with the concepts for the troop transport we see at the start of the film? It likened them to the amphibious landing craft of WWII.

I think we see two in that shot. The thing behind the red laser is the same but at a different angle perhaps.

Yep, there is another one, and it's facing in the opposite direction. I just noticed that it does have an open boarding ramp like a WWII landing
craft, so it must indeed be a troop transport. The ramp is illuminated with 3 blue strips of light just under the red laser bolt-

I remember seeing a thread like you mention. It was some time ago.

i think i know what happened in that scene :

what if in the first teaser the stormtroopers we see are in that same shuttle and they are actually, finn, rey, han, leia, and poe dameron in stormtrooper gear and they managed to sneak in ? not a very probable theory but who knows :p

    &

what i spotted in the background of the first shot of the second teaser was a crashed "New" type of X-wing is that correct?
well if so it looks like its been crashed a long time ago... so when exactly were these new X-wings designed ? what im saying is maybe its poe damerons x-wing and what we see in the flying sequence is in the flashback scene ?

That ramp must be the one that opens up during the first teaser trailer. The storm trooper attack on the village. Perhaps this shot with the new star destroyer is Kylo Ren and his marauders returning from the village attack?

Actually the crashed X-Wing is the old OT type. If you look closely at the still from the opening shot you can see it has round
intakes, instead of the half-circle split intakes of the new TFA X-Wing-

Gotta say, the new X-Wing is a sexy beast.

interesting to note that the guy getting off that shuttle ramp is not wearing a stormtrooper suit.

If you mean the squarish piece under the wing on our left, it's the inner structure of the lower wing.

    Outlined here in red-

    yep its that wing.
so that x-wing really crashed the same time as that star destroyer.

do you think that finn and rey just stole stormtrooper outfits to sneak in?

I used to have an Estes flying model rocket X-Wing. On it's maiden launch it shed both of it's left wings, made a 90 degree turn, and flew right into a brick wall.
As fast as it was going, and being made of vac-u-formed styrene and balsa, the result wasn't pretty!

Yeah, I don't get why everyone is talking flashbacks? Flashbacks are a crutch for story telling and I really hope they stay away from that. I for one am not considering any of these clips as flashbacks and can see no reason why anyone would.

They are troop transports and we see the inside of one in the first teaser trailer. I believe this clip is the return of the First Order raiding party after scaring our new hero Finn on the desert planet after busting up that outpost or whatever it is. The larger ship is know to be Kylo Ren's from his promo poster.

It appears to be resting on a pedestal to me which implies it is a coveted or sacred object. We may be looking at Sith worship here.

Nice catch, didn't notice it there either!
