I live in Austin. I know someone who might be someone and/or know someone else at a certain local theater chain that's quite friendly with JJ. They held the world premiere sneak preview of Star Trek with Leonard Nimoy in 2009. Allegedly the trailer is already loaded in the system with the digital equivalent of a small private army of snipers guarding it. A few VERY select people have seen it. It's about a minute long. Only a few shots. Something iconic is the focus - not sure if image, music, or both. Goosebumps. That's alls I know. Any more would be telling.

Also a solid rumor that JJ will show footage at Harry Knowles' Butt-Numb-A-Thon in December. But that's not from a trusted source, only someone who says they know someone who would know. Can't put too much credence in that one. The trailer though? That one I trust.

 

There will be a trailer by the end of this year all hugely anticipated films do teasers a year in advance now

 

So now that you mention the 21st as 99.9% it has me thinking that the date from star wars rebels empire day 11/27 could be linked to the trailer.... I would think that the teaser will release in a theater first because JJ loves film and spectacle, but could it be releasing online first then go in front of movies in december?

 

I trust nothing involving Harry knowles. What if we get a Disney trailer like the Cinderella glass slipper trailer? Just a bit of music and a lightsaber and title shot. How pissed are we going to be.

We all need to remember this movie is not just being marketed to us fanboys. I can see them doing a Cinderella type teaser to make the masses aware of the movie. Most people I know could careless about every detail of a Star Wars movie. Believe it or not their are people out there that have no idea a Star Wars movie is coming. Don't expect much from a very early trailer.

 

I totally buy anything that says November. It's just a feeling because the way everything official is being handled right now. There is almost NOTHING Disney, Bad Robot, Lucasfilm, JJ....pick your name. Title? Yes sure. But title announcement? Not so much. It absolutely feels like the calm before the storm. I'm very very optimistic it will be very soon.

 

Yes I too feel like the title announcement was a calm before the storm. The trailer before a film with a Star Wars like rebellion story and a strong female lead would make sense. Something yo get people talking over thanksgiving and keep us crazy fans satiated.

 

The Star Wars Twitter account already announced the wrap of filming, no need for a separate one from bad robot.

It makes a lot more sense marketing wise to put the trailer in front of Hunger Games than Into the Woods. Disney probs don't care much about getting fanboys into the theater to see Into the Woods. That would only produce a pretty small increase in ticket sales for Disney. The real $$$$ for Disney will be if they succeed in getting a ton of people excited for Star Wars that wouldn't care about it otherwise (I.E. thousands upon thousands of teenage Hunger Games Fans). And you better believe Disney is gone do what makes them the most money

 

Disney wants to convert Hunger Games Fans in to Star Wars Fans! :-D And if there are noobish Star Wars Fans in the audience, then they will know that there is in fact a new Episode coming. So it would be very logical to put it in front of the Hunger Games.

 

Two syllables, start with a K, underdog heroine, self-starter, pretty but not a girly girl.

Kira and Katniss were both developed to target a very specific audience. If you compared the casting specs, they're probably identical.

The boys/men are a lock. Anything dubbed Star Wars will sell to them. They'd be smart to target young girls and moms.

 

Dont forget: Many woman also love brutal stuff and war, and ofc Star Wars. I think they want to target mainstream girls and moms.

 

Oh, I didn't forget those women... they're just grouped with the boys/men/people who are diehards. Also, that subset of women is miniscule compared to its more mainstream counterpart.

Follow the money.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Boyega/Ridley/Gleeson play out as a love triangle either. Re: Twilight/Hunger Games/pretty much all YA properties.

I am fine with love in Star Wars it is cool and realistic, I mean how often are we falling in to love. But GL really blasted it up in the PT. In the ST it will ROCK! I have faith in the new crew.

 

The reason why we will have a teaser by the end of this month is simple: to sell Star Wars stuff for X-mas.

The buzz has to start before this year's shopping season.
