Do you think The Force Awakens will be derivative of the OT?

I think the difference between me in 1999 and me in 2015 is that I'm fully prepared that a SW film can underwhelm me.

When I read early reviews about TPM in May '99 I honestly didn't want to believe it? How could a SW movie get 2 stars or a C- in Entertainment Weekly? It's really strange but that's how much I revered SW and Lucas at the time.

I still get Entertainment Weekly and when I read their review in a few weeks and it won't shock me if they give it an A just as much as it won't shock me if they give it a C-.

yup thats true but today a lot more critics are around because of the interwebs and a lot of critics are not as good as the tv pro critics of last decade. we get to see a film and understand it better than our "idol" web personality critics.

No doubt as I think you have to take certain critics with a grain of salt. Some critics will never get SW so they will never give it a stellar review, so I tend to ignore them. You have to look at their previous reviews of SW movies and that will give a read on whether they are giving an objective review of TFA.

It's really too bad Roger Ebert is gone. There's so many movies that have come out and are coming out that I'd have loved to have heard his thoughts on.
