This was a blog I read that I know will be controversial, as someone says the ST should be about ending the force altogether. It's an interesting theory, although I disagree with how he handles it (The government should not erradicate the force because it diminshes it too much). But should the ST be about eradicating the force once in all (maybe Luke destroying the cave on Dagobah?), because there is always someone that will be tempted by the darkside? I'm betting there will be many people who 100% disagree with this theory, but then again its still fun to speculate!

If Luke destroys the Force he becomes worse than a Sith. For better or for worse the Force is something that unites all living beings, no one person can claim objectively how it is to be used. In that sense it belongs to everyone. To destroy it would be to create a great injustice. also no way will the force be destroyed because that is pretty much what separates the Star Wars franchise from every other franchise

Destroying the force would effectively destroy the franchise. This won't be happening to any degree.

I would like to see the government eradicate electricity...

The Force is... well... a force of nature. Midichlorians don't CREATE the Force, they form a symbiotic union allowing people more focus to channel the Force. But you could annihilate every midichlorian in the galaxy and the Force would still persist... hence, Force-ghosts, which have no corporal form and therefore no channel through midichlorians...

Perhaps this is one of the keys QuiGon discovered... that while they had believed that midichlorians were necessary, maybe they weren't... and that is how he was able to persist without the body in the Force...

And two more points... first of all, what the hell is a midichlorian anyway? By canon, it is a sub-cellular thingy that for all we know could in actuality be the SW term for endoplasmic reticulum.

Finally... I have been heretofore saying that the Force isn't conscious... but in a way, now it is. Now there are, at least, 4 consciousness within the Force, QuiGon (partially), Yoda, Ben and Anakin... and while we have seen some interesting manifestations, who knows what else they might learn to do... They may indeed become "more powerful than you can possibly imagine"

What if, between PT and OT, while Kenobi was communing with QuiGon, they discovered how to fully manifest within the Force... which is why QuiGon is only a voice, and the others appear...

Now, Ben couldn't have been THAT powerful, or he would have taken out Vader and the Emperor... but he was also alone... Yoda only joined him shortly before Anakin did... and he had only had a few years to know what it was like... but now there are three of them... working together... and it has been thirty years....

What if all these consciousness merging with the Force is making the Force conscious...

QuiGon... Kenobi... Yoda... Anakin...merging.,, perhaps merging more than intended... and the Force responding...

What if the Force is Awakening...

    QuiKenYoKin Arises

And what effect might that have on Force users... if the Force didn't simply "control your actions, but also obey your commands"...

What effect would it have on Luke if the Force suddenly started telling him to stop by the corner store and pick up a pint of milk....

    Might he go mad?

This isn't a bad idea at all. But I think there are more people in the force than just those mentioned. It is quite possible that what we will see is a Dark Side force ghost find a way to rematerialize and join the physical world once again, and draw upon the power of all those who have passed, will be heavily stronger than Luke or Anakin ever was or ever will be.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before in a different thread, but I can see where Jedi77-83 and the author of the article are going with this. Realistically, if there is ever to truly be peace in the galaxy as well as a balance between the Jedi and the Sith, the only true way of ensuring that is to eliminate the Force altogether - that way no one side has an advantage over the other. Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating that they do that in the movies - it'd be like signing the death warrant for the greatest saga in cinematic history, and I certainly wouldn't want to be the one that does that.

But seriously, though - how else can we ensure both peace and balance between the two sides? The Sith can't just be cordoned off in their own little corner of the galaxy because, well, they're Sith, and as such will always strive to expand the reaches of their territory, power and control. And on the other side of the same coin, the Jedi will always feel compelled to try and sway the Sith to see another point of view and just chill out (if not eat lightsaber).

Interesting idea. The netherworld of the force awakens. Luke can't tell who is alive and who is a force ghost.

A little off topic, but how did Anakin know how to become a force ghost? Qui-Gon learned from the Whils and taught Yoda and Obi-Wan. Was he just so powerful and in tune with the force that the living force taught him?

I assumed that some could transform into Force Ghosts without formal training through an act of ultimate self-sacrifice leading to their demise, BUT this would surely mean a lot of Jedi would have retained their personalities and remained as Netherworld spirits?

Maybe Anakin, always having been singular and special, the 'child' of the Living Force, was always 'designed' to retain his presence after death, so his 'sacrifice' saving Luke may have been a red herring (in retroactive storytelling editing respect) and it didn't contribute to his paranormal survival, only his bodily death.

So, Anakin's physical life was his 'cocoon stage' and his ghostly existence his 'butterfly', or is his spirit form merely a transition between one physical incarnation and the next? Will he be reincarnated in the Sequel Trilogy?

I do agree with many here that this theory of outlawing the force to truly end the saga in Episode 9 would put an end to the 4 Billion Dollar investment Disney made to carry on with more movies.

But if they decided to go that route (which they won't) I could see a Matrix Revolutions type ending where everything balance because of the sacrifice of the protagonist and the world finally has peace.

Why is everyone so down on The Force? :(
If the film is called: The Force Awakens, then I highly doubt it's going to make everyone zombiefied or start burning everything alive.
It is a Walt Disney film.
Luke while in exile may have "Force dreams" or "flashbacks" of Obi-Wan or Yoda talking about The Force.

The Force may be preparing Skywalker to face off against this "Acient Fear" or fuel him with enough energy/knowledge to properly train new Jedi/set up a new Jedi Order.

At one point, I considered a storyline where Luke uncovers the "Force" is really a plot be some evil beings but the more I think about it, the Force needs to tie into all 9 Star Wars films.

The movie is called The Force Awakens so obviously the Force is not going anywhere and I would not expect it to because the Force is the magic of Star Wars but the blogger might be onto something. Here's some speculation based on what has been speculated and what this article proposes.

What if at some point during the 30 years between ROTJ and TFA, Luke who is starting to train a few force sensitives and trying to re establish the Jedi Order wields the Force with such power that a catastrophic event takes place. This causes the new government to take an anti-Force stance maybe even outlawing it. Luke devastated by the event goes into hiding. The few trainees have to lay low and need to hide there force abilities. This holds true for any force sensitive beings in the galaxy. Thus the Force has in a sense gone dormant.

This could explain why "Kira" would be living in an AT-AT on a remote planet if she is a Solo like many think.

Eventually a new Sith Lord decides to take advantage of the "lack of Force" and starts to create havoc in the galaxy forcing the search for Luke. Eventually Luke is found and told of the new threat and he comes out of hiding to face the threat thus The Force Awakens. The government sees the importance of the Force and Luke and the a few new Jedi take on the threat.

The rest of the sequels will be about the new Jedis struggles against the new Sith Lord

May be way off bad but that theory would tie in the bloggers theory with other rumors/speculation that is out there

Right... because the only way we will ever see the north and south reunite is if we wipe em both out...

I believe the rumor is that he had help from the other side... of course, this lends to the other side starting to be able to do things like that...

Well then, let's simplify the issue and look at ways of solving it. Realistically, how do you solve the problem of two kids squabbling? You can:

    a) take away the thing they're squabbling over, effectively making so that if they can't play nicely, neither of them can have it,

    b) have a higher-authority figure (teacher, parent, etc.) step in to separate them and explain that their behaviour is either inappropriate or unacceptable (but who would this be? The Whills? The Father from TCW Mortis arc? I have no idea.),

    c) find a compromise between the two sides (unlikely to work, given the unflinching self-righteousness of both sides),

    d) give both sides a share of what they're after (which is what they have now, and it clearly isn't working),

    e) make them take turns (which we've also tried, but it simply ends in mass bloodshed as in The Force Wars, The Great Schism, The Great Sith War, etc. all the way up to Order 66).

Like I said earlier, I'm not saying that destroying or removing the Force altogether is the ultimate solution to the situation - far from it. I'm just trying to figure out a way of establishing peace in the galaxy between the Jedi and Sith, and I'm open to suggestions, but not to open-handed criticism. :p

These aren't two kids squabbling... these are two differing ideologies. It would be somewhat like Zen and Pure Land sects of Buddhism going at it.

You also missed an obvious choice by oversimplifying this to a child's level (avoiding the geopolitical ramifications) Nothing unites two warring factions quicker than an outside threat that can consume them both

Some nice ideas and a well argued case for the ST focusing on the Force (which I agree it should) but: Jedi are not mutants; Star Wars isn't X-Men, end of.

Jedi aren't mutants, but politicians are politicians, and Jedi are an aborhation... and (as noted) if one of those politicians were a Sith (imagine a rat WITH fleas) seeking to weaken the Alliance position, removing the new Jedi from the mix would be icing on the cake...
