I would like to know when the first Jedi existed and what his/her purpose was? Also, I would like to know more about the powers of the dark side vs. the light side.

I believe that Abrams and Kasdan took many elements from Leigh Brackett's TESB script when writing TFA.
The whole "map to Skywalker" and Anakin saber storylines for me are taken from this script.
In this draft, Luke discovers that the crystal in the saber actually contains a map that has the coordinates of Dagobah.
I think there are too many similarities here to ignore. Kasdan would've worked from that script in creating his draft and surely remembered some ideas?

Anyway, in this draft, more detail is given about Dagobah (which still exists in the aesthetics of the cave).
It was apparently a place the Jedi would go to train.

My thoughts are that this entire storyline has been reworked into the ST.
I think Ach-to is being used by Luke as Dagobah was by Yoda - an old Jedi sanctuary where he awaits the future Jedi.
The map to Luke, essentially being reworked from the map to Yoda storyline.

There is potentially a lot more to this Jedi temple idea however. But I think it is interesting to first examine where the idea originated before we can learn what it is really all about...

    Just one more suggestion:
In this original TESB script, Luke meets his father on Dagobah (not Vader at this point) and appears as a Force ghost.
Luke takes the oath to being a Jedi but like in the film version, hasn't fully confronted the Dark Side.
Luke later tries to confront his Dark Side and makes a connection with Vader through the Force.

I am wondering whether elements from here will be a part of Rey's story.
I don't think Rey is Luke's daughter so I am wondering whether on Jakku she will meet the spirits of her parents and later, reconnect with Kylo though the Force?

There is a lot of interesting stuff in this script and it's well worth a read:

Hopefully the Whills will be involved somehow. I think it would be cool if Achto was their species home planet. Maybe they started the Jedi order and then began to let other species in when they began to develop space travel. Maybey Yodas species is the whills? Lots of possibilities here. What if the planet had inhabitants on it? They can take this in a million directions. Then again it may just be a place where Rey does her training with Luke.

Adding to this, Gary Kurtz said that one point Episode 1 was supposed to be about the origin of the Jedi. Maybe they revisited this concept for episodes 7-9?
