Great words my friend. I know I am part of a minority in this but ever since I was a little kid and saw the movies, TESB was the one I least liked from all the saga. People will hate me and argue and even maybe give me negative quotes for what I am about to say but If it weren't for TFA, TESB would have ranked as my least favorite SW movie. As you mentioned before, take away Vader's big reveal and the movie is just a regular movie without anything really amazing except maybe for the AT-AT's and the cool looking Bounty Hunters that just lasted a few minutes. For anyone that knows that Vader is you know who's dad, the movie looses much of it's appeal and though I have no plan to turn this into another OT vs PT discussion, I find it kind of funny that many people hate AOTC because Anakin and Padme's romance took up much time that could have been used better in the movie and as a little kid that same feeling was a major factor in my dislike of TESB as to me, Han and Leia's romance took too much time that could have been used in more interesting things. After seeing such an awesome movie as ANH, for me, TESB was never it's equal.

I agree for ANH (I think it's better too), but not for the love story. In AOTC the love story was basical, because it had to introduce Anakin's fall. But, such a basical love story was such badly written (and when I say "badly", I say badly as well, as a brasilian Z-quality soap opera). In ESB, the love story is good, and it's a very fine way to explore Han's and Leia's characters, which were pretty sterotypical in ANH. I think ROTJ actually failed to continue that story as well.

I think they wanted to follow ANH even in the rythm. If you think about it, Ep.4 had a very similar way to introduce and develop characters. And it was "superficial" as well in portraying characters, which were basically western stereotypes (Han Solo the cowboy; Luke the childish farmer; Leia the strong woman captured by the villain...). TFA is apparently as superficial as ANH was, and this is why I expect some sort of very strong twist in Ep.8.

Lol. That is correct all seven films are equal to me. I don't have a favorite child I love them all equally. One story, one saga, each part flawed, each part great in spite of those flaws. Never said I loved every aspect of all the films though, for instance Jar Jar Binks in TPM is horrible. Conversely, midichlorians are awesome and right in line with everything established by the first three films.

Midichlorians were stupid in TPM, but Palpatine made them sound like pure sabacc in RotS.

Remember that midichlorians were invented to have a physical understanding of the force so it SHOULDN'T, at least in theory, be taken as "taking away from the legacy of the force" so that's a big thing that degrades the prequels for people but they still hold up in the sense of story unlike TFA that treads completely new ground without giving anything away...again, I had a positive view on the new movie but didn't like a lot of its execution..

Is this a troll thread? For the OP's sake, I hope so.

"Master Qui Gon, Sir... I've been wondering; what are midichlorians?"

"Midichlorians aren't important right now. What matters is learning to quiet your mind and that's enough to ponder for one day. In time; young Anakin, you will come to understand many mysteries of the Force."

There's more I want to say later, but I just wanted to mention... it's fascinating that you consider Ep. V like that, and I've always considered Ep. II like that (check the "Episodes II and III are depressing movies" thread). And both are second acts of a trilogy! Maybe AOTC and TESB are more alike than I originally thought.
