I'm so confused... Also it seems that all the toys have the wings retracting instead of pivoting.

 

I am start to thinking that this ship changes its color during the movie. Some kind of camouflage.

 

It seems to change from dark color to a light color.... And here I thought Kylo was "inmune to the light", guess not!

Kylo's ship has been confusing me for the last 30 pages of this thread. The different colors (The Disney one I posted is also black), the wings, this has become my Plagueis's Staff.

For a second - let's pretend we hadn't seen the second teaser, or that anyone had actually got their hands on these toys yet.
Even just going off the pictures we had seen, I would be inclined to say that the design is screaming out for those wings to angle outwards to at least some degree once the thing is in the air.
So that would be my first reference point, that it just looks natural for the wings to spread out into a V-shape, even if I hadn't seen them do that with my own eyes.

Secondly, we have seen the concept art where the shuttle was actually a riff on a TIE fighter.

So I can see how the look evolved from that, and I can see where they are coming from with the shuttle in its "landing" mode, with the wings retracting and standing upright to resemble a TIE's wings, to a certain extent. I can also see how the "finished" design has moved closer to the Imperial Shuttle design of the OT in terms of the fuselage, while retaining elements of this more TIE Fighter-like concept.

So to me... it makes sense that the wings of the shuttle may retract and pivot.
Teaser two and the Topps card above suggest this to be the case.
Why don't any of the toy wings pivot? It's possible the toys were designed before the shot in teaser two was complete, and this was something that was added to the nature of the shuttle pretty late in the day? Or perhaps somehow this feature simply wasn't made clear to the toy designers?

If the wings don't do both of those things, then that may mean the shot seen in teaser two has been revised... but I doubt it.

And as for the colour... I can see them trying white (or light grey) to emulate the original shuttle design. And I can see them trying black to, you know, look all evil and match Kylo Ren.
The fact is, we know this thing is going to have scenes against a black starfield and also have scenes against the backdrop for a snow planet - settling on a mid-grey seems to be the logical choice there in terms of clarity in both instances, and, again, the teaser and the Topps card above seem to endorse this.
The posters showing a white shuttle and the second teaser both date from Celebration. Again, my gut instinct has to be to go with finished shots and movie stills above artwork and toys...

So, IMHO, Kylo's shuttle is grey, the wings extend and pivot out into a V-shape while in flight, and retract and stand upright while landing.

You are right, but this very same poster is being sold since Friday! Not sure what that means for your theory. I do think it's possible that the wings pivot and retract and maybe the toymakers were not able to pull it of. Although it's strange that the lego designers were not able to figure that one out.

On a related note, do we know if Phasma has her own ship? does she travel with kylo or with her troops in the troop transport?

Yes!!! Well done .Finally some confirmation other then the trailer that the wings go outward. All these toy leaks had me worried for a bit (did they change the design postproduction or something ?) cause i really love the idea. It looks like a big evil bat . For me case file #Wingate is closed

EDIT: Now i only whish we could have this evil thing in the movies too.

 

Hey whats up u guys im new here and i just wanted to ask u guys a question im sure you'll know the answer to. Ok so i bought a black series captain phasma for 145 shipped and i was just wondering if they are going to rerelease this figure? I shouldnt have jumped the gun on it so fast but i seemed like these things were selling out fast as hell so i figured id buy one and be able to sell it for more later on. Did i get ripped off or was i lucky to snag one? Thanks and may the force be with u lol

 

That figure is part of wave two. So far it has only been released in one northern US store chain, but it will be available in wide distribution by the end of October. It is in no way a limited item. The high secondary market prices are just due to people not wanting to wait. Hasbro will keep making more as long they believe there is a market for them. They would not intend for any mass market action figure to be completely sold out before the movie is even released.

Wow, that's a new one to me. I like it. Revell is supposed to be making a First Order TIE Interceptor model, I wonder if it looks like that.

Has anyone snapped the mat/board of the new Star Wars monopoly? It's up for $35 at Target in Australia but I'm skint after buying all the lego...

The board might tell us a thing or two about the planets we may or may not visit in TFA.

 

It's a tad disappointing actually.
There's only 8 planets (all from the past 6 films) with 3 properties on most except Courscant and Kashyyyk.
Not sure why Kashyyyk is worth the least..
