I really like how the scene of Luke destroying the Dark Troppers matches with Vader in Rogue one.

Luke's apparition was not a big surprise to me due to the fact that Ashoka gave a hint about the one who will probably get in contact with Grogu, in the top of the mountain, two or three episodes before. So, when I saw that x-wing coming I knew it was him.

At the same time, as said before, that I like how the Luke's scene matches with the one of Vader's in Rogue One... I also think that in scenes like that "Less is Better". They showed to much of him (specially his face). I would have prefered some close ups in his right hand with the black glove and his saber, something more intimist and more elegant.

I definitely understand feeling like the heart of the show is gone with Grogu. But I don't mind seeing Din dealing with his loss alone for a bit--because I think that when Din promises he'll see Grogu again, that's pretty much forecasting a reunion of some kind. Favreau hasn't thrown away too many lines like that in the last two seasons. Din is still working out his identity, and I think once he irons out what kind of Mandalorian, and what kind of person, he is after all, he'll be even more ready to be a dad.

This episode was so freakin cool. It's tops the Ahsoka one for me just because of the last 10 (Luke Skywalker!!!) minutes.

I've watched the episode from Luke's X wing entrance again 3 or 4 times and each time it's brilliant - just what I wanted from ST Luke.
It really made this 42 year old man feel like a 5 year old boy again.

Din and Grogu's goodbye had me in tears too, man such a good ending to S2.

F and F can do no wrong!

Edit: the CG looked good in my opinion, the mouth movement was a bit off when Luke spoke but the voice sounded good too. Disney definitely needs to use Deepfake!

Grogu barely featured in half of this series. I'm sure that was intentional to prep audiences for his departure.

Grogu was Din's chosen mission. By accomplishing that mission, he lost a son. But gained a kingdom. That's his mission now. Even though he probably doesn't realise it yet.

Absolutely agree. Music in this finale has been brilliant too.
And not for only the most memorable and catchy main theme i have listened in years. In every chapter Ludwig has surprised me with a lot of diferent instruments and melodies and sounds (organic, classic, modern...) that fits perfectly with the universe. Absolutely a masterpiece work.

Says something i thought too. The show could have ended here perfectly. Of course I want more but definetly could have been a perfect finale for a perfect show.

Absolutely. I understand and agree this point, sorry to say like this, cause the TLJ. I even didn't care me about how he passed away. Not epic, not emotional. Nothing. But I have to say TFA and TROS did not make that mistake for Luke or any other character, in my opinion. Few people understand this saga like Kasdan does. And I think JJ undestands it too. He had a difficult task. He played a 30 years later league. I think he could not play TM league at that time to conclude the saga.

No! I will check it out later. Cool.

So, we gonna see Din get a little color on his plates, now? Maybe some green accents as a reminder that the other half of his Clan is now training to be a Jedi?

Not sure if he will appear in season 3. Although the book of Boba sounds very likely.

I thought TLJ and Rian Johnson understood Luke perfectly. He was handed the set up of a despondent Luke who walked away from it all due to the failure of his academy and the loss of of his nephew to the dark side. And he had to depict a credible state of mind and set of circumstances for Luke to be so estranged since before the trilogy had even begun.

But as Luke acknowledged in the movie people just don't want him to be anything but the legend they expect. But for Luke the legend is spoiled by what happened.

The Mandalorian grabbed the opportunity to depict the legend we except before Luke the man was affected by time and tragedy.

In The Last Jedi, Luke chose to appear on Crait as the legend once More. Performing a greater miracle than perhaps any Jedi has ever done. But it cost him his life. That was plenty emotional for me.

I liked this episode a little better upon rewatch. Now that I've gotten over the shock of Grogu going away. :(

I love how when Din is trying to give Bo-Katan the darksaber, his head is tilted the whole time like "Really? Really?" He is so done with this quibbling over the stupid laser sword. :D

Then when Grogu sees Luke in the monitor, Din is really gazing at Grogu the whole time, like he's trying to understand what's happening in his little head, or like he's trying to come to terms with himself over giving the child away. They spent a lot more time on this than I realized on first viewing. I am very glad that Grogu asked for "permission" from Din to go and that it was voluntary on Grogu's part because I really hate the prequel-era Jedi taking kids from their parents. (I really hate this taking Grogu from Din too but I'm going with it for the sake of the story.)

I'm so proud of Din though for being selfless and wanting what (he thinks) is best for his child to his own cost. Shades of Shmi Skywalker.

I noticed that he was screaming, but I thought it just hurt his ears or gave him a proximity burn or something. If he did get part of his ear shot off, he probably deserved it. :p

Weequay is definitely dead now too I noticed. Should have stayed tending bar for Cobb's miners.

R2 has more lines than Luke does.

    So I was thinking...

When Grogu seemed so interested in staying with Din earlier in the season... Why did he change his mind? What did his skymessage on the seeing stone say?

Grogu seemed so depressed and exhausted after his stint with Moff Gideon in the brig. We saw what he was doing to those stormtroopers. We know what he did to Cara in chapter 7. Did he recognize with his little toddler mind that he needed to learn more about how to resist the dark?

Wasn't Governor Arnold supposed to return in his role of King Conan on his return to acting? I guess the recent 2 Terminator sequels box office returns terminated all that. The first Conan flick with James Earl Jones is a classic.

IMO, Mando should've just tossed the Dark Saber back to Gideon then say, "you keep it". Besides, it's not like Gideon played by the Mandalorian rules to acquire it anyways.

Don't forget Mara Jade..she's out there somewhere as well.
Also, putting the pieces together.. A few years past ROTJ, Thrawn, Cloning, The Child's Blood am calling it now the entity we saw in the Bacta Tank was Jorus C'Bahoth.

I think it's a safe bet Grogu was riding shotgun w/ Mando because he didnt have a choice until reaching out to other Jedi.

I can't agree w/ this. RJ created the Luke we saw on his own without any help from Abrams.
The character could have gone in multiple different directions beyond the one RJ took.

1- Luke was training a new apprentice or another group in total secrecy away from all negative influences (ie- snoke)
2- Had a force vision and was waiting for the right time to return.
3- X-wing crashed and was marooned.
4- Luke/Jade were protecting their own kids
5- Had a vision of being Vader 2.0 and left to protect the galaxy from himself.

No one will ever convince me that Luke as an semi-trained and tested 23 year old apprentice refused to back down from both the Vader and the Emperor, the men responsible for killings hundreds if not thousands of Jedi, younglings and other souls etc yet as a Jedi Master feared his own apprentice so much than he went into hiding cutting himself off from the force.

...why would he toss one of the deadliest weapons on board back to Moff Gideon? To Bo-Katan, Din was the rightful owner regardless.

I’m of the mindset the cloning is all for Palpatine. We don’t have any evidence of Mara Jade, to my knowledge, or that this is necessarily Heir to the Empire.

however, We do know that the Sith Cultists kept trying to build a body to contain Palpatine’s power and none worked. so pulling blood from a strong Force user, thinking of the Force as a form of science still, they’re seeing if that’ll work. Which is why all the clones so far have failed. Palpatine is my guess as to what Gideon meant by bringing back “order”

Din really promised Bo-Katan: "Help me rescue the Child and you can have whatever you want."

This is going to come back to bite him.

    Amen.

Watching the son of Skywalker lay waste to a battalion of Dark Troopers ALONG WITH the Mando's crew made it METAL.

40 years I've been waiting.... to be lost in the moment again, where Luke is being legendary.

The Rescue absolutely nailed that for me.
