I love the video game and it's among the best in that department. The TV series is super depressing, boring, and overly long. The first season of The Walking Dead was much better (shame where that ended up). I wouldn't recommend a 10 year kid watch The Last of Us. That's kind of the target audience for Star Wars so I can't possibly disagree with you more about "it's more Star Wars than Star Wars." If you really dig The Last of Us I highly recommend the book The Road which covered this same territory in a much more efficient and masterful way.
    Yep

I felt this way during today's Mando episode. Maybe I'm just not a fan of alot of actions scenes while you are? Would explain why you would say TLOU is boring.

Yeah, the first two seasons of TWD were fantastic. Season 2 is actually one of my most favourite TV seasons of all time. After that it went down hill pretty quickly.

I've read the book and watched the movie. Now that's a depressing story...

I agree with this. Definetly it seemed to me like a weekend adventure serial while watching it. And I guess we are still interested cause it's SW. It's fine for me.

Also we can agree the scripts are not Shakespeare. I think is for what Jon and Dave have been praised for, for the worldbuilding and throwing cool ideas and fan service here and there and everybody seems happy (why people was not happy with JJ subtle fan service then?).
Definetly this show is action here and there and fast paced but if we are looking for a deep character and story development we will be disappointed.
The Mandalorian is a cool show although we have to remember Jon and Dave have done poor approaches too.

I know this show is not Andor but as long as it's not like BOBF and OB I will try to enjoy for what it is.

Despite some minor changes, The Last of Us show is basically the same thing as the game.

"I wouldn't recommend a 10 year kid watch The Last of Us." Well, no blast. It's rated TV-MA for a reason.

Fun fact: Misty Rosas, the performance artist behind Kuill and Frog Lady, played the physical role of the "Pirate Coxswain." That is not Gorian Shard, so I assume it's the lone pirate that survived Nevarro.

Yikes. I wasn't expecting a discussion on the merits of The Last of Us in a Mando Season 3 thread. For the record, I *love* TLOU but will be happy and content to limit my fanboy gushing here to Mando stuff. :D

This episode didn't have the same strong central focus that all eight of Season 2's episodes had, but that doesn't mean it was bad. To the contrary, it was a lot of fun to see Din and Grogu back in action---especially when it's been so long since Season 2 ended. I have no doubt that Favreau has some blockbuster stuff in store for us this season.

I love the way that The Mandalorian is still adding to the "Pop Culture Vernacular"
    "This is the Way."
    "I have spoken."
    "No Squeezie. Bad baby."

There's not much more I can say about The Apostate that everyone else has said. It was Awesome. Best episode of Season 3 so far.
The Armorer's opening scene, crafting the helmet, was beautiful, the Creed Ceremony had me thinking Din Flashback? for just a minute. Croc monster was great, Din and the N-1 save the day, and bring dinner, gator tacos for all! Not even a thank you? Gotta wonder, in Din on this Mines of Mandalore quest for himself, or for the Armorer? Purrgil! Absolutely has to be a Ezra/Thrawn hint. I love that Grogu can climb in and out of his bubble from the cockpit! Guess that's what Peli meant when she said she "hogged it out".

Ahh, Nevarro. Movin' on up with Magistrate Greef Karga, oh, High Magistrate. Love the background action, and Grogu's jaw dropped drooling at the food. That white Protocol Droid is bad-ass. Love the whole IG-11 plot, Din needs THAT droid. "He's my friend" I love that the bust in Greef's office is Greef. Another Lando-ish flex. I could have watched 35 minutes of just the Anzellan scene. The tiny door, the way Din was sitting crouched, Greef "translating"... it gave me serious ELF vibes, thank you, JF. Love the pirate thing, they were SO Star Wars and the pride Greef has in his school, shows that he truly is a good guy who had to do some bad things to survive bad times. I love how Marshall Dune was handled and that it was handled, and I didn't think of it then, but I love the idea of somebody else we know filling the vacancy...

I love the space battle, that N-1 can move! I love our new pirate king baddie grass-wookie guy, he's gonna be fun. I loved and was surprised to see Bo-Katan so soon, love to see her home planet in live-action. Her sitting there pouting was great! I can't wait to see how she snaps out of it and shakes of her case of the Mondays.

So much established and set-up! I've gotta say that there is a lot of this that I didn't see coming. I didn't see The Armorer having all those Mandos in her Covert, I figured they would assemble this season. I didn't see the IG-11 arc, and I didn't see Bo-Katan being so defeated and in need of a boost. I thought she was gonna be a force from the start, but I think this sets up an even better arc for her. I cannot wait until episode 2 and to see Peli, R5, maybe Boba and Fennec?

Lastly, I knew we'd get the Andor comparisons, I even addressed it in relation to The Bad Batch last week. I couldn't agree more with the fact that this one episode scratched an itch that Andor didn't. THIS is nostalgic, classic Star Wars. I don't know if it was intentional, or inherent, but this 35 minutes amplified what made Andor different and how vastly different these stories can be. But it hasn't changed my opinion one iota about Andor! Which is better? C'mon. Which is better, pizza or tacos? They both rock my body. There is plenty of room on the Star Wars Buffet, folks. Get in there and eat what you like. Try something different if you feel like it. The good news is that there are several cooks in the kitchen whipping up some great stuff. We are in the Golden Age of Star Wars. Grab a fork and enjoy!

His name was Vane, and physically a tall guy... But I love that Misty is racking up those credits. She's like Favreau's Warrick Davis! Hopefully we will see Coxswain in the future.

Nothing would please me more than a Vanth/Karga joint, but would he want to leave Mos Pelgo/Freedomtown? He already has the NR badge for that territory and he is loved there. But we have another fugitive-turned-friend of the NR, Fennec Shand...

Absolutely. It was an immediate recall. Also, is that Kelsey Grammar? Got his vibe in the voice. And, when the Vane guy yells, "Avast, Mando!" that was an involuntary eyeroll but great line.

I agree, and I think they knew that the anticipation was at a boiling point after two years, so it was a spectacle over substance thing. And Thank You! It was basically a 35 minute trailer with that pacing! Now while we are catching our collective breath, we can get a little deep in Chapter 18.

BTW, @Darth Derringer you called the IG thing! Added "feels" that Din wants his friend back.

Purrgil/space whales. Yes. Ezra connection? That remains to be seen.

First off, thanks to the board for the Purrgil identification. I hadn't made the connection until reading it here. Second, if we're getting introduced the purrgil introduced in live-action, rest assured, it's sending a loud and clear message about Ezra and Grand Admiral Thrawn. :) :) :) :) <------- Me doing a Happy Dance!

I get the feeling that Din Djarin should have taken up Greef Karga's offer to become the marshal of Nevarro.

[Mod edit] The Mandalorian s3e1... has come out. I've combed this section carefully to see that there wasn't already an existing post and I saw nothing, so here it is.

After we watched it, my wife said that some people will kvetch about it because of the way it finds the whole situation and the way it leaves it, but at the same time, she pointed out that the end of the second season left any writers of the beginning of the third season in a tough spot. It's hard to pick up from a place like that.

So, Kara Dune indeed is not coming back. I'm sorely disappointed and highly irritated, as always, with Kathleen Kennedy.

Bo Katan seems very forlorn. Without saying too much, I feel really bad for her. Hey, Dinn tried to hand her the thing but she was as hung up on the tradition of that blade and the Armorer is about the Helmet thing. That's the way it goes with any bunch of Mandos, there's always a cultural or traditional hang-up and there's no getting around it.

At least it had some serious action even if there was some gloomy news. Also my wife and I really dug the miniature droid engineers. And Dinn blew up some pirates...

All in all, I'm very pleased and am looking forward to the next episode and the rest of season 3.

[Mod edit - I moved the post here to the fitting thread :D ]

I watched the episode twice. What time do we see the Purrgil? I'll have to watch agian :D.

At approximately, 12:42 In hyperspace Grogu sees space fish, Purrgil. So, this season will connect to the Ahsoka series. This easter egg is a clue that Ahsoka will find Ezra.
