What I like about Famuyiwa is he is quite classic and he always tries to make it the more realistic as possible. His cgi "creautres" (his is chapter 2) are quite cool and cgi never surpass the story.

Can't wait to watch other directors approaches and specially Bryce again.

Well , just a nitpick about IG-11 resurrection.

I didn't like that. Mainly because it's not logic.

IG-11 self-destructed himself (as we see him in the very first seconds of the episode), in order to clear the road for his friends.
So, firstly, the blast needed to be huge, to properly swipe all the stormtroopers out.
Secondly, self-destruction is intended to totally destruct the droid, I mean, make it hard to bring him back to life. Or it wouldn't be a self destruction, just a droid-suicide.

So, technically the idea to resurrect IG-11 from its statue is bad to me.
Of course, I understand it was a cool plot device.

 

I liked the episode. It framed-out the coming season well enough. A lot of the scenes were visually amazing, especially the beginning in the cave with the Death Watch covert. I also thought we were seeing a flashback there.
And man it was super cool to see the Purrgils. I wonder if Grogu has a Force connection with them?
Gorian Shard looks to me like if Davy Jones and Swamp Thing had a kid together, though I appreciate another antagonist of a new species.

Edit: oh and damn you non-specific time-jumps!!!! how hard is it to say"It's been X amount of time since we've seen you!"

 

Loved the giant Croc-turtle scene; the Mando glass w/ inscription was VERY cool - and the attempt to rebuild the IG unit was pretty slick, in a T-800 kind of way - but the last act... aside from Bo sitting on the throne like Maul once did, was rather meh. Solid start, "bad baby" - was funny. I give it an 8.



EDIT: Logged in to Mouse House and was met with a msg that I now must watch ads to view this show.... CANCELLED.

 

Yeah, I understand your complaint, daRinze. But this show is George Lucas-style STAR WARS. It's an old-fashioned, children's matinee, 'comic book' series and viewers will enjoy the show a heck of a lot more if they watch it through the eyes of a 12-year (whatever age they are.)

My 12-year old inner-self tells me that IG-11 made a really cool, kick-butt nurse droid! 'nuff said.

 

Why must you watch ads on Disney Plus? I received no such message. Anywho, I hope this is not the case because Paramount Plus' ads are very annoying, very long, and they also provide an AD count down which is irksome to say the least... 183 seconds, which is 3 minutes and 5 seconds long

1883 &1923 are great shows, however, the ads are maddening... well I hope Disney doesn't shaft us this way.

Since I've been a loyal subscriber maybe that is why I didn't receive that awful message. This must be a penalty for unsubscribing, and subscribing again when there is content that one wants to watch... hopefully

Wait a minute, I just remembered that there will be different subscription options to purchase going forward.

Disney is adding a cheaper AD VERSION to get more subs... that was close!!! $7.99 wasn't going to last forever. It was just a taste. Anyway, I have too many streaming services. whoever wanted to do away with cable tv, I'm looking at you... we all respectively got shafted.

I'm now thinking about which streaming services will I maintain when I retire in 3 years...

 

If we rotate the photo, I guess Bo Katan's castle seems a Mandalorian helmet... XD

 

Now, I know why I didn't see the Purrgil on my first viewing... this is deep rooted analysis thank you for that sir! do you watch Star Wars: The Bad Batch? Just curious... I know a few Star Wars fans who will not watch the animated shows because they're supposedly for children which is hilarious because Star Wars is for children of all ages. What is it now man-child, Kadult, etc.,?

 

IDK - haven't logged in for a few months, since KENOBI at least - msg said that the $13.88 I've been paying is for Disney-Plus: BASIC / *now with ads. Also said my device (laptop) was no longer compatible & wouldn't load on the ROKU or Sony TV. Finally got it on the wife's PC and there were ads - every third of the eppy. Not paying for that, or dealing with any more streaming issues, period. Cancelled, then deleted the app, all the others work just fine.

They weren't all warm & fuzzy about it either, so I told them I'd go out of my way to view ALL of the episodes commercial free....

I was rather forgiving to begin with; never insult a Sith Lord with nothing more to lose.​

 

I sincerely apologize for that nightmare... I do not receive any sort of ads on Disney Plus, whether it be on my flatscreen, MacBook laptop, or iPhone... I'll check my iPad later... ( its ironic how they unleash this option or contrivance when the most popular show on the service has a new season).

My concern is strictly because the experience I had with Paramount Plus. Imagine binging an entire season of 10 episodes or series with 3 minute ads... maddening...

 

Good point. I'd have liked it better if somehow they just had a flash drive with his memory or something... Guess we can say that IGs are built from durable materials to serve their purpose.

Cape Droids and the bust of himself are very strong flexes. Lando might be jealous.

He does have that same animal-centric Force power like Ezra... Very cool idea!

That sucks! I've got the Disney/Hulu bundle for $9.99 so I hope they don't mess with that. Wanna say I paid for a year up front, though...

I can deal with most ad platforms, really Netflix's isn't bad at all, but Paramount+ is pretty bad. I don't pay for that one, so it's whatever... What I HATE is YouTube's ads. How in the world do they consider a 42 minute video a suitable ad to put in the middle of a 10 minute video?

 

Youtube ads are the worst, but I believe its the content creator that selects the amount of ads, because some youtubers go over board. 42 minute ad is ludicrous!

That's awful, I signed up before Disney+ went live, and I haven't cancelled since, I still pay 7.99 with no ads, which I know won't last too long... I originally had all 3 which was 12.99 but instead of cancelling completely, I downgraded to just Disney, I got rid of ESPN and Hulu.

On another note, I'm a subscriber to AMC A-List, if you cancel your subscription with AMC you can not subscribe again for 6 months, to prevent people from unsubscribing/subscribing again, and of course the subscription will not be the same price when first released. it all boils down to money... fortunately there are services where you can watch everything for decent price every month.

 

Agreed. I was ok with his self-destruction. It was like "oook, another resurrected character". Seemed quite lazy wanting him back although i can understand Mando barely trust in droids and at the end IG became important in his life.

Absolutely I am 46 (you know, from 77...) but I watch everything about SW related on date. Currently in episode 11 as well. First season I didn't expect much and really surprised me. I had faith with second season but surprised me for not that good. They should have started the season with this week chapter. This season seems precipitated.
