I love how Grogu does the mid air force flip into Pelli's arms and then actually speaks her name. Isn't that the first time we hear him speak a word? I love the direction they chose with the sound of his speaking voice.

Love the mines of Mandalore mines of Moria vibes. It's almost as if I expected Gollum to be trailing them but what else are deserted mines supposed to appear as right? Mines are mines. Dark and echoey.

Bo Katan is a complete badass. Period. She made this episode for me.

That Mythosour was HUGE! As in Godzilla type proportions? Lol probably just the close up shot. My excitement has hampered my discernment.

Pelli's jawa speaking skills are spot on. I guess they should be being that she used to DATE one. Really looking forward to next week. (fighter)(boba fett)

Presumably Mythosaur, but we didn't know that when he just disappeared. It just made me giggle, bloop, he's gone. XD

"You'll never find it on your own." - guides the Mandalorian to an entrance as tall a Jedi Spire at the back of a Blimp Hangar.

That alone gets this eppy 10/10.

Very entertaining episode. I'm a fan of Bo-Katan -- she's been such a complex character over the course of various series. Love seeing her, for all intents and purposes, as a co-lead this week. Hoping she continues to play a centralized role. This is the Way.

Interesting... I took it as she was alarmed when something obviously got him, and the initial fear that he was hard to find, and then the shock of the mythosaur. It was curious that he was just lying there on the bottom like he was. The beast didn't seem to be focused on him as a threat or a meal, or anything. Aren't they supposed to have been extinct for thousands of years?

Yeah, there are lots of questions there. All those discarded helmets... It looked like it stuck a needle into Din and was pumping his blood out of him... It looked like a small creature inside of a small cockroach-like mech that then had an upright mech/droid body and then the massive spider-like mech suit/vehicle. Did Bo kill it or just disable it's mobile units? Are there more of those? We can assume there are more of the Alamites all over the place, and lots of other predatory beasts... Mandalore has fallen back to the creatures, kinda like we saw in some more wildlife-prone areas after the Covid shutdown. Animals started to thrive and reclaim some areas with less human presence.

I don't think he actually said anything, captions just read [babbling], and Peli heard what she wanted to hear. He is definitely getting close though, I really thought he was going to say a word or two with Bo-Katan. No doubt he is getting way more expressive and he is understanding things, just like a real kid. Favreau is channeling that Mushy-soft Dad vibe so hard right now, and I LOVE It!

Yes, with all the emotions she is dealing with in this moment, that sharp, self-confident wit is still very present. That was one of her best "made me smile" lines, along with when he asks, how did you find me? And she replies, "Your kid. He's quite the navigator and he's tougher than he looks." Translation: " HE was smart enough to NOT end up in a cage being drained of his bodily fluids..." I can't say it enough, I am so excited to see where this, especially Bo-Katan, is headed this season and even further. Getting her own series is looking more and more like a very possible possibility. That whole 'Ghost Track 17' story we got a few months ago could absolutely be a spin-off Bo-Katan series.

Am having serious problems with the screenshots section for this episode.
The arrival alone in Mandalore is so damn cool and there are plenty of incredible shots. Love that green touch that is perfect for contrasts with Mando's ship, armour, R5 and the light of sunset.

Another director that has given to me what am visually expecting in SW. Great cinematography in here. Great work!

Hope tomorrow I will finish what I started :)

Yes and yes. The effects we're very believable and high quality. This show gives me OT creature effects vibes and I love it. It's refreshing being that I was disappointed with a lot of TBOBF's effects. This show hasn't disappointed me at all in this area.

Man, the approach to Mandalore, the turbulence, the interference, the rain... so very cool. Did anyone else notice the difference between Din and Grogu's entering the atmosphere in the N-1 and the contrast between when Bo enters in her ship? Like her ship, a Mandalorian ship, was designed for the brutal atmosphere. One of those little details that make everything better.

    Chapter 18 screenshots
To not make 2 large parts, a lot could not make it.

Note: in the second viewing we can see clearly Din taking again the dark saber and his gun after drinking the soup.

The way the saber returned to Bo was freaking good. [IMG]
Din got the saber from Gideon, but he did not really wanted it.
Bo always thought she had to get the saber by fight.
Technically, that Grievous's cousin took the saber from Din, during what can be considered a fight. Then, Bo took the saber from the beast in another fight.
All is clear now Din got rid of the saber, and Bo got it back in the good form.
    That was the way.

Bo got the saber, I'm sure she'll now keep it carefully...

... and this kind of detail just confirms my idea. Din is not made for the dark saber.

Hey man. It's Star Wars, so everything is possible.

    Good son. Good son. :D

    I was almost in tears.
But where were Mos Esley Emperors of the Streets ?

Yes it becomes a pleasure now the Son is getting smarter and smarter.
I'm convinced this is all Luke's job. Grogu spent 2 years with him iirc. In the course of 2 years with the Jedi, he raised and matured more than his preceding 50 years (in custody, I know).

Yes, Chapter 18 is definitely her episode.

I was yelling to GF : "God! His first word, his first word, the freaking first word of the Beast!!!".
But I replayed the scene a couple of times, and I got sure Grogu is not actually saying a word. And absolutely not Peli like she believes.

Yes. And it is not known where the third part, the head, who escaped, went. Maybe we'll encounter it again later.

What gave me the actual goosbump is the moon that appeared in space : "And that's where I was raised... Concordia." [IMG]

In the end, Din might not be ready to wield the dark saber yet (he hasn't accepted it and it's meaning), but it still isn't Bo Katan's saber. She knows this herself, she left it for Din to retake and we saw that he did before going to the Mines.

I wander if the story will go towards the Mandalorian version of the dyad and blending of their beliefs. Mandalor and Mandalorians have to change to survive and retake their home. Much of their misfortune comes directly from their constant internal conflicts which were exploited by their enemies.

Here my comment in previous post ;)

I guess Bo wants to take it in a legal way, if she really wants it again.
Will be interesting to see where it goes now the mythology of Mandalore with the Dark Saber and the Mythosaur. My thoughts when trailer was released were all Mandalorian factions will unite to fight together against another enemy (remnants of the Empire? First Order first factions?). Maybe Din will keep the saber and Bo will ride the Mythosaur and both will rule together in a new era.

    For you ;)

The director is well-known for her feature film work as a cinematographer so I was expecting this episode to be visually stunning---and it was.

One other thing I noticed about this particular episode is that the darker scenes all looked significantly better than similar scenes during the first two seasons which often looked too dark.

I did not notice that in my 1st viewing. So I was just guessing.
My 2nd viewing will be tonite with my son. I'll be careful of that moment, but I've always accepted you're both right.

Didn't know that, not familiar with her work like I do with Roger Deakins, or Greig Fraser. Always love to have a good cinematographer.
Certainly she did an incredible job. For sure we will see her again in SW.

Me neither in my first viewing :)
In second view is perfectly noticeable.

I loved that line because only a blind idiot could've missed the HUGE entrance. The Mandalorian didn't need her, the plot did.

Epic campiness hath many forms. +1

I also think she had a touch of FOMO. There is something else to be taken from her story about her childhood. She's still got some of that spoiled Princess thing going on and this adventure was a perfect excuse to shake off some of her Little Princess Pity Party vibe she was throwing out there in the throne room.
