    Full Mandalorian action-package episode!

Maybe not the best but still with interesting points of the worldbuilding and a cool ship fight.
The series keeps showing unexpected events. Also it seems a lot of story points converge here: the pirates, Mandalorian union, Mythosaur, Moff gideon (briefly) Republic lazy bureaucracy aspects, Empire not dead in the Shadow (who they will built the First Order?).

What we all were expecting is becoming true: the unification of all Mandalorian against a new threat (remnants of the Empire, FO?) and preparing for a more epic story?
Cool to see Y-Wings and X-Wings in that republic base (with Dave, Rick and Deborah cameos included).
I always love a good ship fight in SW. Nice editing with the ground battle and aerial one.
Din is taking more voice and importance in the creed.

    I thought the same XD
That was cool! It seemed cgi to me (rare cause the show prefers practical effects with characters). Have to check it again.

Great, good fun, this episode. It got plot for the plot-freaks, action for the action-freaks, and lore for the lore-freaks, and I'm lovin' it! :D

Also very cool that Captain Teva got a more involving story arch in this episode, with an added epilogue of mystery at the end. Great! :)

    (boba fett)(yoda 2)

(It annoys me, though, that distances/travel times have disappeared in Star Wars. I feel it cheapens the setting when everywhere in the galaxy is just a short X-wing flight away; as in, Karga sends his message from Nevarro, Teva receives the message in fighter base, flies to Coruscant to chat with a bureaucrat, and then flies back to Nevarro in the Outer Rim without the locals even unpacking their bugout-kits or putting up any shelter. Of course, it doesn't matter at all, and it was certainly no Mando that started this in Star Wars, but it does annoy me. Oh well...)

I'm confused when the episodes comes out because I'm from Sweden. Because according to IMDb they come out on the 29th..
I usually get a reminder from Pedro's instagram that a new episode is coming out but he didn't do a story about it this time. I know Katee did but I wasn't sure she did it one day too early. :)

I both loved and hated this episode.

I knew Din would not leave Greef and his people to the pirates. Everything about liberation of Nevarro was fantastic - all the plot parts with captain Teva and the action parts with Mandalorians. I literally teared up a couple of times.

But then the Armorer pissed me off (even after being sooo cool fighting the pirates). Din takes off his helmet for Grogu, he is an apostate, and he basically gives Mandalorians the new home because Greef promised him the land, but Bo walks both ways so now that's all right? And people who left her because she doesn't have the saber any more will now magically follow her? Why sell us Din as a protagonist for two seasons only to sideline him now? Arrrgh! Narratively, him potentially becoming the leader of Mandalore was interesting because he didn't want it and he is ill suited. He would have to rise to the occasion. Bo Katan had her chance and she lost it. Her redemption could have been told differently and still be effective. *sighs*

At least Paz was a good boy. Stand by your bro and fight like a badass. All the respect. And none for the Armorer.

EDIT: Live action Zeb brought smile to my face. I wonder where is his hubby (Kallus). ;)

    Consider my hand raised. :D

    A few random thoughts:

After hearing in advance that this was a Bryce Dallas Howard episode, I kept thinking to myself, 'this sure doesn't FEEL like a BDH-directed episode. Then at the end, low and behold, it wasn't. :)

After hearing in advance of the Ahsoka show that it was going to be a live-action continuation of Rebels, I thought to myself, I sure hope they don't cast Zeb because that character would look hokey as hell and feel awkward in live-action. Then, after Zeb's cameo in this episode, I thought ...um, nevermind. :)

I continue to love the show but I've gotta say the storyline this season feels a tad bit herky-jerky.

This is probably my favorite episode of the season. Plenty of action and a lot of stuff that moves the story forward. Zeb looked great too.

The best comedic moment, maybe of the entire season, was kowakian monkey lizards ratting out on the pirates after they shot at them. :D

Director Debra Chow and Executive producer Rick Femiyuma at the NR bar right before and after male pilot Lasat shows up cameo city! Pre-Ahsoka cameo indeed. After watching this episode they are using scenes from the defunct Cara Dune series...

Why didn't Din pull out the Darksaber when rallying the troops?

The helmet rule, is it really necessary?

3 episodes left, have we seen all the highlights from the trailers and tv spots? Moff Gideon did escape with the help of an unknown Mandalorian sect. this is how he is aware of Mando customs.

In the Clone Wars animated series, Legend / Canon books, and comic books, Trandoshans species are depicted to be as strong and fierce like Wookies, but for the live action series TBOBF and Mandalorian series, Trandoshan pirates are easily subdued. Their thick skin and quick reflexes are no match for human species which I found is rather odd. They are depicted as canon fodder. A species that are able to capture and enslave tall fierce Wookies.

NR pilot using the scanning mechanism seen in the 1986s Aliens film directed by James Cameron.

Solid Top 5 episode of the entire series for me. Maybe Top 3 with a little time to come off the buzz.

Chapter 21 The Pirate could not have come at a better time. I was just in the past few days starting to notice some rumblings online, even from outlets that I enjoy, asking if this series was starting to fail. Questioning where it was going? Who's the Bad Guy? Why get into the NR politics? Why all the focus on Bo-Katan?
Mr. Favreau and Ms. Chow just served up a seven-course meal of answers. Just like any good meal, there were a few chunks of cheese in there, sure, but good cheese. Tim Meadows is Gold, and the R5 thing is just such a deep cut it's acceptable. I love Carson Teva for so many reasons, and I so badly want Adelphi Base to be a major part of Rangers of the New Republic. How Epic would it be to see Carson Teva, Zeb, Cobb Vanth and Trapper Wolf take down a sleeper cell of Imperial Remnant scumbags?
So I guess we got a few more clues to Elia Kane's allegiance... though she could still be working both sides.

I am loving everything about The Children of the Watch. They really stepped up and showed their true spirit. The Nevarro pirate battle was awesome, both in the air and on the ground looked great. It's cool to see how all that training we saw them do on the beach paid off this week. Paz is such a bad-ass mofo, but that shot of the Armorer entering Greef's office with her hammer and tongs... That was a thing of beauty. I love that the Covert is returning to Nevarro, and I guess that settles any issue about needing a Marshall. I'd say a whole mess o' Mandalorians will be enough to deter any mischief, and I would assume the Covert will have a great deal of pride and ownership of their new home.

We are starting to see how things work within the community, and maybe all those nutty over-zealous rules were just there to protect them in their time of need. I can't say that the Armorer telling Bo to remove her helmet shocked me, and I really thought that she was going to remove hers as well. Surely that is coming. I love how they are playing these events within this group. The Armorer knows that The Way they have been walking is not the only Way, and that is beautiful. She is not some religious zealot. She simply led her people to follow a path of preservation. She now sees the tide is cresting and they need to be ready to go with the flow.

Throughout this series, we have seen characters who had to change their ways in order to truly find themselves. They are all starting to find steadiness and resolve in who they are inside themselves, not how they follow outside influences. Din, Grogu, Bo, Greef, Paz, the Armorer, they each have evolved and changed, drastically in some cases, to be better versions of themselves, and in many ways, they have all affected and pushed each other in these changes. They are likely going to need these qualities and loyalties going forward, as we are getting hints of a major conflict ahead.

At this point, you gotta think that either they are saving the Darksaber for something EPIC... or they are just dead-on downplaying it as being truly insignificant. My vote is for epic.

I do think we have seen all trailer scenes at this point, which is exciting.

I'm wondering if they are hinting at Gideon having a sect of Mandalorian followers? It would make sense with him having the Darksaber that he would have assembled a following like Maul did. But if so, where were they in Season 1 and 2? Why wouldn't he utilize them in his efforts and especially in his defense? The Beskar fragment found on the shuttle could very well be a frame-up by Gideon to implicate Bo and/or Din as being responsible for the attack. We know he would have access to shards of Beskar, and we feel pretty sure he is responsible for attacking Kalevala, so it would benefit him for the NR to suspect Mandos in his kidnapping.

Moff Gideon without dark saber is no big deal if the Mando's who follow him think it was stolen.

It's the whole mask on/ mask off thing that's got me looking for the spiked eggnog and Tylenol.

I thought the same thing. I expected him to raise it over his head as he wrapped up. Bo Katan makes a really big deal out of her people deserting her and that any Joe-Blow with the Dark Saber could wave the blade around and they'd all come running.

But THAT was the perfect opportunity to utilize the Dark Saber's abilty to bring together Mandalorians. You'd think in Navarro's hour of need, Din would've used it to win over the others. The fact he didn't felt kind of odd to me.

I suspect that the reason Favreau didn't do it is because this season is about watching Bo Katan blossom into a Mandalorian leader again.
