The EU and canon have parted ways and agreed to see other people... in an interesting turn of events, JarJar never happened in the EU...

she will forever be known as the queen who gets her shirt strategically ripped

I know of at least 2 Padme eastereggs in TFA,,, they are codenamed Luke and Leia... no idea what the reference is, though

There is a 20 year jump between the first trilogy and the second, and a thirty year between the second and the third... why is this bothering people?

Vader will probably play into it, simply because he was the Emperor's right hand, and his death changed the galaxy into the mess that it is in now... and he is also the chosen one... he channeled the dark side and the light, having walked both sides...

Not that I think he will actually appear... not in the flesh...

This is, of course, what Star Wars is all about. Luke was brought into the galaxy under less than ideal circumstances, and the OT was all about his search for his father (the classic mythological quest)

The PT was sort of the same, as Anakin didn't know his father (didn't HAVE a father) and was searching for the father figure... through ObiWan and Palpatine...

Good luck to your son, always remind him that while knowledge is power, where you came from is less important than where you are going

To protect her identity as Vader's daughter they would have probably kept that even from her. She may have gotten some details but specifics that would give away who she was would probably not have been mentioned.

I always assumed the Fallanassi was a group of people with similar abilities, like the Jedi, and not a group from a particular place. I don't recall a planet being mentioned named Fallanassi at all.

The EU held out on Luke and Leia 'discovering' their mother until after ROTS had been released, whic made sense, but was weird considering the characters had 20 years to figure it out.

Based on her 'appearance' in the Princess Leia comic book, that will probably be explored in non-film materials. Much as I'd love to actually watch Luke and Leia acknowledge their mother, they aren't the main characters of the sequel trilogy. At most we might get Leia telling Rey she looks 'so much like' her mother. [NOTE TO RIAN JOHNSON: MAKE THIS HAPPEN].

Greg Rucka recently discussed how Leia would probably ask around, in the aftermath of ROTJ, who the lover of Anakin Skywalker was and that she would likely have a conversation with Mon Mothma. I'm praying that he was dropping a major tease for a future project, because I'd love to see that, even if only in comic book form. The glimpses we've had of Padme in the new Marvel comics so far have been very haunting. Her story is so tragic, and the fact that it's been ignored completely when the entire series revolves around 'the father' is bizarre.

First of all, to keep the Jedi Order from knowing, didn't Anakin and Padme tried to keep their love affair and marriage a secret? It would seem that only Bail, Obi-Wan, and Yoda knew about that relationship. (I haven't watch the Clone Wars cartoons, so I don't know if more people knew about it.) Based on the scene in ROTJ, it seems like Bail had not told Leia the truth of her parents. So it would seems that the only way for Luke and Leia to know about Padme is by asking the force ghosts about it.

I do wonder, though, whether Darth Vader had kept mementos of Padme, like a hologram or something, somewhere in his various quarters. If he did, then Vader-obsessed Kylo Ren may find out about it. Now Kylo may not know that Vader and Anakin were the same person, but he would probably be interested in knowing more about the woman that seemed very important to Vader.

    Seems pretty doable to me!

Likely, so again, how on earth does this never come up?

I considered a thread like this one, but stumbled across this.

It has been written in the new canon that Luke seeks out former Jedi temples for information, and as we know, Luke and Leia know that Vader was once their father Anakin Skywalker.

    The questions beg an answer:
    1. Will Luke or Leia have ever visited their mothers grave on Naboo, and
    2. Should she be mentioned or referenced in the ST.
I'd like to believe that they've paid homage to her at her tomb, and would definitely smile at a reference to her in the ST.

I wonder how Leia could remember her mother though she was barely 5 minutes old when she died.

Any reference to her in TFA, would make me happy. I loved her character.

I Like the concept of R2-D2 restoring C-3p0's memory as it was explored in Droid Tales

She must have used to force to recover those first memories but never used them fully until TESB. Hearing her name being called by Padme must have been one of those she hung on to but never revealed to Breha her findings.

An old idea I still cling to (hopefully) is that "Rey" is short for "Naberrie", the name given her by her mother, Leia, in homage to her own mother, Padme Naberrie....

Her naming lives on through her grandchildren, nice idea, I wonder when this war is over will she claim her royal heritage on Naboo.

By the by, I have spent a lot of time doing genealogy research. Most people I have met doing this same research are in their mid to late 50's or 60's or older. I am rather young to do this kind of search. There are ancestors who will provide tantalizingly few clues about them, but information becomes little. This is especially true where parents are not married and not known. it is a secret that you are drawn to find out. Luke is more likely to do this search because he has no idea who his mother is, leia has at the least the force impressions that she has and can rely on them.

However, this is probably best left to one of two things, first a book would be an interesting thing to do. second it might be better if a post trilogy book is undertaken not by Luke or Leia, but by one of their kids.

Amidala's impact on Luke and Leia as characters is huge, I mean really huge. They share far more in common with their mother than they do their father. They are both idealists, they are both good, almost to a fault. I doubt she will be mentioned at all, but she should be. There is no story without Amidala's passion for doing what's right which Leia inherits a lot of. The one part of the PT that was done well. Amidala as a character was drawn directly from Leia and it worked well. I only wish it was more well written.

Padmé was cremated after Episode III's end, her ashes were scattered into the river Solleau which runs through Naboo's capital city Theed. With no buried body to find, the truth about her twins remained a secret from the Empire and the Sith. ;)

That was before she had an Oscar, her "future" is safe, she is in a point of her career where she can do whatever she wants, and maybe re conciliate with the fact that Star Wars "made" her career.
