Completely agree. Now I'm thinking they might have known that Struzan was not going to do the theatrical for whatever reason and that's why we got the teaser poster from him. I did get the impression that he was still working and did in fact work on a lot of other stuff for the film. Does anyone have a quote of that?

I think they opted for the best of both worlds. They did use Struzan, and they also went this new direction. You get two posters.

I don't see how the fact that it's being debuted during Monday Night Football is in any way ignoring the rest of the world. It's a big, live television audience, so why not take advantage (also, it being on a Disney network). And it'll be available to everyone at the same time no matter where you live. I don't typically watch MNF, so is it also unfair to me?

Because what's 8.00pm for you, is 1.00am for me. So I effectively won't get to see the trailer for another 7 hours after it's actually released.

There are plenty of people who like Star Wars but would never set foot in a Comic Con.

MNF reaches another group of people that might otherwise not know about the film.

Where do you live? I'd say England based on the 5 hour time difference. You get to see the movie earlier than in the US :)

Which makes no sense. He was the HERO of the last three films and he is nowhere to be seen on the poster?

Ya, I noticed that as well.

Chewie may actually take care of REY moving forward

There's no reason they can't show it earlier in the day and on MNF.

So apparently, this guy (Bryan Morton) designed the poster.

I didn' t notice the Death Starkiller. I didn' t believe the rumors. And I don' t like the poster. I was hoping they wil be smart enough to make OT poster, yet we recieved the PT one, probably to match the collection. And I' m not PT hater. Just I love so much the original posters and never liked the PT ones or the Special Edition ones....One positive thing - the rumors may be wrong and Finn is the Jedi of this trilogy....but the poster is a dissappointment to me, a lost opportunity. But I' m happy for you all that you like it.

I'm not sure how Disney can be held responsible for the existence of time zones?

I like the poster a lot. I like that the image feels like higher quality and not a painting. Love the symbolism between Kylo and Rey, they are totally the solo twins. Only thing I didn't like was how crowded the center feels. Started wondering why they didn't take out Maz, Leia and Han, and Chewbbaca, and make Poe bigger. But then I realized that Leia and Han being there is just more foreshadowing, on top of the lightsaber/staff parrellism, for Solo twins. Still wish that Maz and Chewie hadn't made the cut.

They can try and mitigate the damage though. Debuting on MNF is pointless when they can release the trailer online and still not lose any momentum by showing it on MNF too.

I think they should have made Poe bigger, and moved C-3PO and R2-D2 to the bottom right. After all, they're barely in the film. It makes more sense to have them just above the credits as a little gag, instead of cluttering up the middle of what is otherwise a pretty awesome poster.

Ya, I think the first time the general public will see it is MNF...... it will be online shortly after that.
    IMHO

Disney owns ESPN. Both Star Wars and ESPN as brands will benefit from this. This is part of brand synergy and will get both mentioned on social. It also reaches the 25-35 demographic more than us lonely otaku spend hitting F5 at 2 am. ;)

In short, people were worried their friends didn't know about Star Wars and now it will trend alongside the big game on social.

Rey is shielding the rest of the heroes from the main villain.
