hmmm... there aren't any giant, planet eating spiders in this scene, are there?

 

That sounds reasonable man. Star Trek Into Darkness had one of the best opening scenes ever to me so I am not worried about Episode 7. I will give you a Ewok rating anyway because it gave me some food for thought. Maybe your not full of BS.

It only makes sense that is why they call him the 'Grave Robber', robbing Vader's final resting spot for the Helmet. I can also see this scenario, Driver is a collector of Sith artifacts and finds Vader's helmet. He then contacts a buyer which would be the 'Grave Robber'. Then meeting each other on Driver's ship to negotiate on the Helmet a fight ensues and the 'Grave Robber' loses his arm but gets away with the helmet. His arm and lightsaber are then jettisoned into space.

It's only speculation but fits with a few rumors that is floating around.

 

Could you go through the staff to see if some of your rumors match up with what they have also heard? It would definitely go a long way towards adding credibility to your story.

And the "robber" would wait 30 years or so; WHY?...
It's possible a scene or character will be in Endor or set like described but I feel EP7 will have a strong opening(like the massive space battle in Revenge of the Sith or the Hoth attack in TESB) then all the "oldie but goodie" Star Wars crew will roll out: Han Solo, Leia(as the supreme poo-ba), Chewbacca, the droids & MAYBE Luke.
They'll be the standard "we got to train & get ready to face this evil force because we're not good enough but we have more balls than brains & we are young(and good looking)."
Then they'll be a set-back, a few major characters may bite the big one & the film will end with a HUGE shocker(to play into EP8 & rattle all the jaded sci-fi fans).
Fans, critics & the film academics will compare it to TESB.

 

It would be interesting. That's where Ep. VI ended and that's where Ep. VII starts 30 years later.

Sounds interesting and very Raiders-esque but I see this new trilogy starting with a bang.

 

Viral has stated that ewoks will not be in the film... and Viral has mysterious ways of knowing these things...

 

Quality story telling is number one for me, so a nice subtle and mysterious beginning to the movie sounds great

 

it would be an interesting way to start.

it would take a lot more evidence to prove to me that JJ isn't gonna do a huge opening.. i think he'd have a job selling that as an opening scene to the peeps that sign all the cheques.

in saying that.. ESB is my fav film and i think the opening few minutes of that are pretty dull. (force-field up)

 

Skeptical about the source, but I like this opening better than the last ideas I've heard. Starts off on a quiet, mysterious note. In the ashes of the galactic civil war at the very place the Empire fell, the new trilogy picks up and gets its momentum from the mystery. The next scene introduces the protagonist/s and we get involved in their story and forget about the mysterious beginning until later in the movie when it resurfaces again. Maybe the next scene is Boyega's TIE fighter crashed on hopefully-not-Tatooine.
