Just yesterday I was on Youtube and wondered how the teaser's got only 25 million views on official SW channel.
I'm really happy about that, our community is stronger than ever.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not... but they're using all Internet traffic not just YouTube data.

Didn't know that, at least until I read the article. I'm not sarcastic when it comes to Star Wars, so don't worry. :D

So the 111 million views claim comes from anonymous sources?

"" While that might look like it pales in comparison to the monster 24-hour trailer views of Disney’s Avengers: Endgame (289M views in December), Avengers: Infinity War (238M) and the Thanksgiving day drop of The Lion King (224.6M views — remember these are organic and paid ad views),consider the fact that a majority of Star Wars fans were literally watching the Skywalker trailer live during Star Wars Celebration, hence the lower 24-hour total. Marvel movie trailers are typically launched cold, meaning they’re not dropped during a livestreamed event (footage shown at San Diego Comic-Con or CinemaCon is typically delayed). ""

Nah, i dont buy this. I presume that atleast 95 percent of the Celebration participants/streamers watched the teaser on, for example, YouTube during the first 24 hours after it was dropped. We are talking about Star Wars fans here.

    10 day YouTube

The Last Jedi (April teaser): 119M views; 262:1 viral ratio; ($1.33B world, $620.2M domestic)
The Force Awakens (November teaser): 103M views; 120:1 viral ratio; ($2.07B world, $936.7M domestic)
The Rise of Skywalker (April teaser): 87M views; 295:1 viral ratio; (TBD)
Rogue One (April teaser): 62M views; 68:1 viral ratio; ($1.06B world, $532.2M domestic)

    24 hour (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube)

The Rise of Skywalker: 111M views
    The Last Jedi: 91M views
    The Force Awakens: <55.5M views

Says a lot about the explosive growth/usage of these platforms than perhaps the movies themselves. Still, better to be up than down. (See also: Google Trends numbers World / U.S.)

Reminds me of when Deadline said Solo was selling twice as much as Black Panther...which had a ridiculous implication (of a $50M Thursday Preview or a $404M opening weekend for Solo).

This is dumbest argument one can possibly imagine.
No matter how many people were at celebrations... is not that they were millions. And I bet that they went on youtube, etc...
a second after the trailer rolled again, to bing watch it.

I mean, ep. IX trailer is doing its job and it's doing it fine, etc...

But let's give Caesar (Marvel) what belongs to Caesar (Marvel).
And there's also the chance that GOT (which is not listed beacause is a TV show)
is the true Caesar worldwide at the moment.
That however, doesn't undermine at all what SW is for many people.

It's not a matter of taste.
    It's a matter of numbers.
    I prefer SW.

The only reason the numbers are greater is that they drop movies like mice drop turds (ewok).

Not sure how these two are comparable. That was a report on initial ticket sales the first day they're were available.

This was May 4th and the projection started trending towards $100M as the reviews and word of mouth started trickling in about the film itself. This supports Disney's conclusion that Star Wars fans mostly showed up for the film, but the general audience (who doesn't buy tickets the first day they're available) wasn't excited about seeing a recast Han Solo in a film with production problems and mixed reviews.

It's safe to assume that if JJ delivers a film that critics and audience like The Rise of Skywalker will make a lot of money in December.

We shouldnt assume that the 111 million views claim is correct. It comes from unnamed sources as i wrote and we know nothing about them and their calculation methods. What i would like to claim is that Twitter and Facebook (and Instagram for that matter) in general was as big when the TLJ teaser was released (not sure about the time of the TFA teaser) as they are today. So i find it dubious to claim that TROS YouTube stats can be explained by the existence of social media.

Why would the GA care that Han Solo was recast? Recasting Han is something SW fans could/did care about. I have never heard of anyone deciding not to see a movie because of production problems - like ever. And Solo's reviews seemed comparable to Avatar; Avatar did pretty good at the B.O.

My last word on this since it's been beaten to death in other threads and arguing this with the same people over and over isn't productive.
Simple..... movie audiences love Harrison Ford. Alden Ehrenreich isn't a box office draw.
Avatar had better reviews and a better Cinemascore. It was also a once in a lifetime 3D event film from one of the most successful directors of all time. These two films don't share much in common.

The whole 111-million-views-in-24-hours thing isn't making sense in my brain. Where are the views? :\

There was no box office drawing actor/actress in Rogue One the caliber of Harrison Ford and it managed ok at the Box Office. Ultimately I don't think the speculation that the studio offered genuinely or accurately accounted for Solo's performance (especially since cinematically, it's actually a good movie), and I think it's actually harmful to repeat them for that same reason.

Avatar and Solo have comparable scores among review platforms, this is not something I'm asking anyone to take on faith, everyone can go look and see for themselves.

Anyway since this is your last word on it, I'll make it mine too. It is possible to agree to disagree.

I get that, but the main Star Wars YT channel (where most people watch these things, and the first place the trailer REALLY hit the internet) had what, 8ish million views the first day? It took two weeks to reach 25ish million.

It means those watching the Live Feed of Celebration on Youtube. The actual Official Trailer from the Star Wars Youtube Channel is a different feed from the Live Celebration Panel that showed the initial trailer.... and millions of people were watching that Celebration Feed feed.
