Because in all the 6 movies they´ve seen it only in hand of Darth Maul. All the jedi had single bladed. They´ve been told through all these years that jedi are peaceful etc.,and double bladed lightsaber is more aggressive, more attack-like wapon designed mostly for fight, not defence...I have friends who are star wars fans, love the movies but don´t remember most of the names and minor plots. Imagine ordinary moviegoers. It would be unnecesary complicated for non-fanboy audience...from my point of view. I could be wrong, but in popcorn movies Hollywood mostly keeps things more simple. I confess that if Rey has a double bladed, I will be really surprised...

 

Ok. I see what you're saying. I don't think it would be too confusing if she ends up using a double bladed lightsaber. Now if her lightsaber was red, then I'd start to question things.

Sigh, they aren't even trying anymore, are they? At least come up with something batshit so I have an actual reason to archive this.

 

An "extra" from the set said luke was blind. Troll posters aren't even attempting to hide their BS in vauge sounding possibilities, its just pure BS that people then "speculate" about.

 

Maybe Luke became the Kwisatz Haderach and Jakku is actually not Tatooine but Arrakis .

 

Did the original post get edited since you copied the text? There are differences in the description, for instance the text I just read said you see the walkers with their lights on and it's a night shot

I was told some info during a discussion between a few of the active crew that worked second unit

• Lupita plays a small role as "Leia's secretary" (she was in the scene I got to work on).
  
• Luke is blind and actually wears white contacts in the film, but can see using the force.
  
• Kylo apparently has a "awesome voice" under the helmet.
  
• some of the "action scenes" are sorta parkour/ninja like.

Oh, where do we begin? For one thing, we know Lupita is playing a pirate (Has it confirmed that she's only playing one role? I know Andy is, but I'm not sure she is). And I just imagine Kylo switching his voices back and forth a la Dark Helmet.

I posted this over on the reddit thread, but I really like the idea of Luke being blind and using the force to see because it retroactively turns the scene from episode IV where Luke fights the remote with the blast shield down into a foreshadowing moment.

 

Yeah, I like it too. It's probably a load of bantha poodoo, but I like the sound of it.

 

It's worth mentioning that @Kyle was the first to suggest that Lupita was playing a political type character associated with Leia:

So I'm inclined not to toss this idea out the window.

 

There is obviously some connection with Maz and Leia since she gives her the lightsaber, maybe Maz is force sensitive as the rumors say so we have a connection there. Myabe she and the pirates help the resistance as well.

 

Not to sound mean, but this speculation is hilarious.

I know this sounds absolutely crazy and I would downvote and hate it if someone else posted it.

But I LOVE Ahsoka and think a live action film with her as the main character would be awesome.

Is there any chance she should could be spoke? The lifespan of her species is around 100 years. She would want to save Anakin's saber - the last bit of Anakin really left after becoming Vader - giving her good reason to snag it from Bespin to eventually end up in episode 7.

I dont know why she would be a big baddie, but perhaps the former rebals are using tactics that are morally questionable hences lukes going into hiding.

Thoughts?

and who knows what she woud like later. especially after a potential big battle with vader.. severely damaged and part cyborg.

Can't fault that person for his/her enthusiasm. Unfortunately for that guy, we've heard Snoke's voice. Either Ahsoka aged horribly or this is a different character.
