    uh...he kinda already did when he left it on the bridge. so if he has a mask it'll have to be a new one ~ could be the same design, but he clearly wasn't that attached to it when he just tossed it down like the albatross that it is.

    extra points to all who actually get that reference. hahahah

    Well don't forget it was so his dad could see his face...if SKB hadn't been destroyed then he would have probably gone back for it, but for Ireland, it would make sense for him to not have it at least on ach-To because he'd want Luke and Rey to look him in his eyes as he kills them.

    he took it off to show his father his face. he dropped it to surrender his lightsaber. two very different actions.
    there's a reason it's so dang heavy and makes so much noise when it hits the bridge.

    yes, he probably would have gone back for it if he hadn't been shot and lost his mind seeing Finn and Rey standing up there staring back at him.
    i was just making a point that he doesn't seem to have any particular affection for that particular helmet.

    Can we all just agree that Mark Hamill is the freaking man?! I love this guy, so passionate and loving about everything he does. He's hilarious too! I'd love to see Luke get a few comic release lines, I think they'd be perfect in a fight situation where somebody may think they have him outnumbered or beaten. He just hits them with some smart-ass line and unleashes the true power he's been hiding the entire time. I'm so happy to call him Luke Skywalker, we couldn't have it any other way.

    While the outline of the scene might roughly be correct, I'm highly doubtful about the motivations - Luke urging Rey on to kill Kylo? That's very highly doubtful.

    every time i see this picture (or others at the same convention), i remember: yeah, Star Wars was once upon a time just a hopeful little junket making its round of the geek fairs. ah sweet nostalgia.
    what an amazing adventure it's been!

    right? that's never happening.

    Absolutely. Luke who didn't give up on Vader who was much worse than Ben, despite Obi-Wan and Yoda urging Luke to face and kill Vader and hiding the truth that Vader is Luke's father? That Luke? And Luke urging Rey to kill his nephew? Yeah, that's not possible. Maybe the stuff about KOR and Kylo engaging Rey and Luke is a valid leak and rough outline for the scene, but the motivations are so off and I smell someone filling in the blanks there...
    I'm personally super excited about Adam being in Ireland.

    but without the evil cackle...;)

    @FN-3263827, what are you doing in the spoiler tagged thread?! :p

    People said the same thing about Finn leaving Poe for dead in the desert, and stealing his clothes. When MSW said that, people said "Why would he ever do that?" But given the circumstances, it now makes sense.

    I think this'll be the same. We don't know how Luke looks at the world now. He could've changed. There could be certain circumstances set up in the movie where Rey has to kill Kylo specifically.

    Since MSW didn't hear this once from one source, but "multiple times" from multiple sources, I'm very inclined to believe this will happen, we just don't know the entire context behind it which makes it seem unlikely.

    yes, it makes sense because Finn didn't leave Poe for dead in the desert or steal his clothes. neither of those things were true.

    like you said, it's all about context. we're just suggesting the context presented here is wrong.

    Luke may leave Rey to face Ren or even direct her to ~ we're saying his reason for letting them duke it out is not likely that he wants her to kill him.

    I can't believe people are nit-picking the importance of a helmet. Anyways, moving on to things that matter: Luke is back. I now have A New Hope for this trilogy...

    But with the rumors we did not know that, in hindsight we have seen the film now. It just sounded very, very wrong. But MSW was right he did take the identity of a resistance pilot.

    At length did cross an Albatross,
    Thorough the fog it came;
    As if it had been a Christian soul,
    We hailed it in God's name.

    It ate the food it ne'er had eat,
    And round and round it flew.
    The ice did split with a thunder-fit;
    The helmsman steered us through!

    And a good south wind sprung up behind;
    The Albatross did follow,
    And every day, for food or play,
    Came to the mariner's hollo!

    In mist or cloud, on mast or shroud,
    It perched for vespers nine;
    Whiles all the night, through fog-smoke white,
    Glimmered the white Moon-shine.'

    'God save thee, ancient Mariner!
    From the fiends, that plague thee thus!—
    Why look'st thou so?'—With my cross-bow
    I shot the ALBATROSS.

    ...

    Ah! well a-day! what evil looks
    Had I from old and young!
    Instead of the cross, the Albatross
    About my neck was hung.

    ...

    The self-same moment I could pray;
    And from my neck so free
    The Albatross fell off, and sank
    Like lead into the sea.

    - Excerpts from "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" by Samuel Taylor Coleridge

    Irish Examiner - Kerry set to be a scene stealer in latest ‘Star Wars’ film
    http://www.irishexaminer.com/irelan...-stealer-in-latest-star-wars-film-400574.html (May 20, 2016)

    Wednesday was the 18th.

    Carrie Fisher was in Cannes on the 14-15th according to photos taken by Getty Images and this The Hollywood Reporter article.

    Website The Movie Bit - which covered a lot of Star Wars filming back in 2014 and 2015 in Ireland - thinks the idea of Carrie Fisher being in Dingle is "BS" due to her appearance at the film festival.

    Carrie Fisher was at the Cannes film festival - so was Adam Driver for a brief time during this past week after being seen days before that with Ridley in Ireland.

    Carrie was at Paul Allen's yacht party on Monday, the 16th. She has posted photos on her twitter account recently.

    Showbiz411 reported on the 17th after speaking with Fisher that she'd be going back to work.

    The primary filming unit is in Ireland for the foreseeable future.

    As it stands, I think that they'll break a number of scoops, and that they're right about what they've already reported, and they deserve credit for it. However, I don't think they're going to get nearly as much information about the overall plot structure of these movies as they did for The Force Awakens. The key reason behind that is because of the disaster that Harrison Ford's injury was to the movie's overall production, which caused delays in filming, which led to a bunch of people getting laid off, which led to major documents getting leaked out. I can say, with complete confidence, that Disney-Lucasfilm has amped up their security significantly since then.

    For frame of reference, at this stage in post-production, we knew that the final scene of TFA was going to be Rey meeting Luke on Ahch-To. Conversely, with RO, we haven't even heard about a single scene of the movie in context (unless you count the "Darth Vader kicks some ass" thing, which doesn't say a whole lot about the setting or whom else is involved). Episode VIII is over halfway through with filming and details on a mere two scenes (Poe's mutiny and Luke's badassery) have leaked out. Given that documents are bound to be much more secure this time around, I suspect that number won't be growing exponentially between now and the same time next year.

    Get Mads Mikkelsen liquored up, he'll tell us about VIII even though he didn't work on it.

    I'm sure he'd even say a thing or two about IX, which doesn't even have a script yet.
