Title for Episode 8

If it would be my call : after credits scene of Rogue One, teaser + title of ep VIII

 

"A Rey of Hope"

 

TFA already broke the pattern of titles so all bets are off.

They will announce the title before Rogue premieres.

Production just wrapped, and SDCC occurred right after they wrapped principal photography. They might have a little second unit stuff leftover.

Even if they don't have any shooting left to do until the inevitable reshoots next year, they wouldn't announce the title during SDCC because it wouldn't get the amount of attention Disney wants because a title would be overshadowed by actual footage from other movies in their SDCC trailers. Same thing with doing it this week or next because the post convention polling will dominate the news until the Olympics start on August 5th. Since Disney owns ESPN who will be covering, not showing the Olympics they likely wouldn't do any promotions then.

The closing ceremonies are August 21st.

College football begins September 1st, the Thursday before Labor Day (Sept 5).

ESPN is huge that weekend, showing nearly all the best match ups, and will be the only network showing a game Sunday and Monday night that weekend. Disney might announce it then.

ESPN does have a double header of NFL games on Monday September 12th. That's another good possibility.

The presidential debates start Sunday Sept 26th. I think if they don't announce the title by then, we might have to wait until January. The elections in the US will dominate the news from Sept 26 until the election occurs. At that point they'll be building up RO promos to a fever pitch and won't want to confuse things.

I think the title won't fit the pattern of OT & PT because TFA didn't.

I'm curious as to why you think TFA as a title doesn't fit the patterns of the other movies. I thought it fitted quite well in my opinion. There has been an awakening, have you felt it?

A title fits a pattern, and you buy a fitted sheet.

Only one of the other six titles have been complete sentences. The empire strikes back is a complete sentence

I don't think TFA is a bad title or that it doesn't work well with the other titles. ESB and TFA are different types of word groups than the other 5, and TFA doesn't continue the pattern of EP1 and EP4 as far as grammatical structure.

I only think it matters because it makes the EVIII title harder to predict

 

There will be no structure or contraints they will just come up with the best title possible and you'll love it

By the way, with today's perspective, would you find any BETTER title to any of the Star Wars episodes so far?

The Phantom Menace... Well perfect!

Attack of the Clones?... Makes sense

Revenge if the Sith: it is what it is...

A New Hope? It makes sense now

Empire Strikes Back: simple, but bull's eye

Return of the Jedi: best title IMHO

The Force Awakens: again... Makes total sense with the story

 

There are a couple of meanings to this title:

1. Luke and Rey's search to find Snoke and Kylo.
2. Kylo's quest to remove the light within himself.

 

REVENGE OF THE BITH!!!!!!

 

I think that the 1st Order was not seen as a great threat by the republic hence Leia was begging for help in fighting them.

Now that they destroyed the fleet and blew up the capital system the are considered far more dangerous. Even if the Republic falls back to previous political infrastructure they view the 1st Order very different. I think things are in shambles and individual systems are making alliances that they think can save them. Some will pick the 1st Order Some will try isolation some will back the Resistance. This is why I suggested the title CONFLIGRATION. Its big ominous and suggests scorched earths war.

Now that doesn't fall into naming convention some good ones have been suggested I like;

Conflagration
Assault of the 1st Order
Knights of the 1st Order
A Broken Peace
Ashes of the Republic

 

I never really liked the prequel titles. I mean the menace wasnt really phantom... The sith directly revealed themselves by attacking Obi-wan and Qui-gon.
The phantom menace was rather the era before the prequels when the sith were planning in the background. A better title would've been ,,A Rising Menace" Or a ,,A New Menace" to rhyme ep IV maybe?

Does it really? The clones werent really attacking anyone. The Separatists were the one that attacked and the clones came to rescue...

This would've been a good title, but it wasnt explained what a sith is and what are they having revenge on...

 

I always saw "Attack of the Clones" as a double meaning for the duality in major characters from the movie... Darth Sidious attacking Palpatine's Republic.... Count Dooku & Darth Tyrannus, the clones of course... maybe I am looking too deep into its meaning.

As for The Phantom Menace... it relates to Palpatine... and he remained the "phantom" for most of the Prequels.... of course, WE KNEW, but for someone that sees Star Wars for the first time, maybe it is not THAT obvious that Palpatine is pulling the strings.

Star Wars Episode 8: Seriously guys it ain't Plagueis. Soon followed by Episode 9: Okay guys it was Plageuis but seriously it isn't like we could just tell you.
