    I really, really hate the "Forces of Destiny" title that has been circulating lately. Sounds like a mediocre videogame. Hope that rumor isn't true.

    Good, it would've been terrible.

    I hope they do some really unique things with this film (especially after how so many people were angry at how TFA had many similarities to ANH) but I hope the naming convention isn't too drastically changed. I think we should have a darker title.

    The previous trilogies followed sort of similar patterns, but one followed a sort of "good guys win storyline (represented by +) while the other followed a more "villains win" one (represented by -)

    The Phantom Menage (-)
    Attack of the Clones (+ sort of)
    Revenge of the Sith (-)

    So, looking at the titles alone, you get the impression that things are kind of rough for the protagonists in the beginning, and it gets worse from there.

    A New Hope (+)
    The Empire Strikes Back (-)
    Return of the Jedi (+)

    The OT sees a good beginning for the protagonists, a rough middle, and a happy finale.

    The Force Awakens would presumably be a (+). So far, we seem to alternate between +s and -s, like a pendulum. Here's the thing, though- when the six OT/PT episodes are together, the pattern still continues between ROTS's (-) and ANH's (+). TFA, though, breaks that cycle. What awakened, exactly? Was it Rey's powers? Kylo's? Something else entirely- something sinister? Maybe TFA actually is a (-), and Episode 8 will get a (+) title.

    Or, maybe I'm way too far down the rabbit hole. Someone get me a tin foil hat, a bulletin board, and a whole lot of string.

    I really like it but seeing as there are no Sith (that we know of) it wouldn't really seem appropriate to me.

    There are no sith in TFA era. There are shadaows of the sith though. Kylo and the knights of ren are shadows of Vader,

    I know that, you know that...but don't you think people would get a bit confused if they aren't THAT into this?

    Just saying, using a word like Sith carries weight. I think it could lead to certain expectations with some viewers.

    I like the Echoes of The Dark Side you posited more because of that. Or maybe find a way to combine both...

    Mmmmm. If this turned out to be the title, I'm thinking it would suffice as long as it was explained in the movie which, given that it would be the title, I'm pretty sure it would be. "Shadows of" points to elements of the sith but not entirely sith.
