when i look at people here, on the council forums, reddit, neogaf, facebook, etc. I'd say that there are a good number who just didn't dig the movie.

sounds pretty dismissive. There are plenty of people saying they loved it. Maybe they're the "vocal minority". Or maybe some people love it and some people hate it.
    --- Double Post Merged, Dec 17, 2017 ---

yeah man we're all just fanboys who had "theories". Its always so edgy to rag on a fandom that you're a part of.

glad you do. Seems to be a lot of people on these boards that didn't dig the movie. Jedi council boards, reddit, neogaf, etc. I think there are just a number of people who didn't like the movie. Its pretty simple.

Theyre holding onto it because rotten tomatoes is the go-to for everyone, sort of like an industry standard...if that makes any sense...I have a feeling that even with the bots removed, the score would settle at an average of around 59%//61%

Long long ago, didn't you say you were in the industry and worked with/for Lucasfilm? Then, surely you MUST know that the industry of course pays attention to Cinemascore to determine audience reaction, not the easily manipulated Rotten Tomatoes.

you are right i have collaborated with them. but I didnt mention anything about determining audience reaction, just that people generally look at rotten tomatoes btw you sound a tad condescending there
    ;) but anyways.

Serious question: why does the fact that there are a number of people that didn't like the movie, such a hard fact for some people to just be ok with?

Where the gap is for me is, disagreeing with moments, with decisions over the 2.5 hours and flat out hating the film.

Personally I am shocked that a Star Wars fan can come out of the theatre hating it. That gives me Phantom Menace parallels, and that movie couldn't touch TLJ. The level of dislike is surprising for this one.

By the end of TLJ's box office run, it will be born out that those who truly hate this movie will be a very small minority.

It's not if you don't like a film then I'm fine with that I'm sure there a lots of films you like that I wouldn't & vice versa.

This is more that the RT score seems very low compared to what the Box Office is showing sure this is opening weekend & a lot maybe pre booked showings but if the ticket sales are still good next weekend then it will look like the RT score is not really representative of what the General Audience think of the film. Of course if there is a massive drop of like BvS then yes I would have to agree that there is a large number of the General Audience that don't dig the movie. it won't effect however change what I personally think of it

the idea that people intentionally dropped the RT score calls in the question of, why? If you look across the internet, people are savaging the movie. People also like the movie. In 6 months we'll know how the general fandom feels. People's complains are mostly about how this movie feels like a continuation of a different story. "did rian johnson watch tfa?" another fan responds: "only long enough to say eff jj abrams and eff this shhhh.".

I really dont get the whole RT-Score discussion. Why does it have to be bots who are down voting the movie?
Maybe 1/2 to 1/3 of the people who saw it did not like it.
I for my part loved the movie and the people i saw it with did too.
But I do understand why some people might dislike the choices RJ made. I loved them but this does not mean everybody else has to feel the same.
The thing that bothers me is how both sides try to rip the heads off each other. Criticism should always be constructive and just because someone does not share your opinion does not mean he is an idiot / ass / depressed fanboy...
If this movie ruined Star Wars for you i feel kind of sad but that is your opinion and i respect that.
And one more question, why do the good critic scores mean Disney paid the all?

The thing is that the score doesnt match with: critic score ( yeah i have seen this before), with the cinemascore (for some people not is not viable this one) with the IMBD (yes is in 7.8 or 7.9 at the moment but not that low comparing it with Rotten and Metacritic), and taking in consideration that i have seen this behaviour before ( Justice League (audience reaction), and in games ( in metacritic) where Bots have been spaming positive or negatives reviews (See assasins creed origins and Wolfenstein 2), raises some eyebrows.

Now i understand that some people didnt like the movie and is divisive, because everyone have an opinion but this is a little bit weird
