Sam Witwer, known for voicing Palpatine and Maul in Star Wars video games and animated series, may have just confirmed he is indeed the voice of Palpatine in the upcoming game Battlefront II. This reveal fortifies a different story we broke back in May, in which a source informed us Ian McDiarmid did vocal recordings for a Star Wars project that they believed to be for the final season of Rebels!

The host of our official podcast The Resistance Broadcast (@RBatSWNN), Patric Covey, messaged Sam Witwer via twitch.tv, directly asking the actor if he was the voice of Palpatine via the Sentinel that we saw in the just released story mode clip from Battlefront II. See Witwer's all but confirming response here:

Witwer's IMDB page does list Battlefront II in his acting credits, but we've seen IMDB jump the gun and be wrong in the past. You can clearly tell by Sam's coy response that even he isn't sure if that information should be revealed yet. Witwer all but confirms that he is indeed the voice of Palpatine in the clip, stopping shy of saying 'Yes I am Palpatine.'

    WHAT ABOUT IAN MCDIARMID?

When talking about Palpatine, how can we leave out the man who brought the character to life back in Return of the Jedi, Ian McDiarmid? You may recall back in May we broke a story to you from a source regarding Ian McDiarmid recording voice parts in London for a Star Wars project. As a refresher you can read that article here.

At the time we weren't sure who would be voicing Palpatine in Battlefront II, but now that we know it is Witwer and not McDiarmid, the options of projects McDiarmid did voice recording for has dwindled. Our source who informed us about the McDiarmid voice recording believed that the session was for the final season of Rebels which now looks extremely likely.

After watching Sam Witwer's response to Patric (@ganon136) it sure sounds like he carefully, but indirectly, confirmed he is the voice of Palpatine in Battlefront II, which fortifies our source's belief that Ian McDiarmid's recording session last year was for the final season of Rebels.

You can find me doing horrible Palpatine impressions on The Resistance Broadcast with Patric, please follow us on Twitter and subscribe to us on iTunes and leave a review or follow us on Soundcloud.
