Just re-watched TLJ. Some of my favorites:

-Leia slapping Poe (you’re demoted, get your head out of your cockpit).
    -Chewie & the Porgs
-Kylo loosing it in the elevator
-Force bond scenes (particularly the intimacy acted out by both actors)
    -throne room fight
-“oh yeah they HATE that ship!” Scene followed by “blow that piece of junk out of the sky!!”
-crystal critters (so cute & elegant)
-the red & white colors on crate, especially when the skim speeders came out to the resistance song & charge the first order
-“woohoo, I like this” Rey’s smile from the falcon
-when Kylo force pulls the lightsaber to Rey & the force theme plays

As other people have pointed out, the only thing I enjoyed were the end credits. Now of course, I'm label a sexist troll or something for not liking it. Even the director calls me a man baby for not liking his movie!

Imagine that, its MY fault that he made a bad movie lol. Whatever, JJ has another swing at it and star wars is too big to allow one person to bring it down.

I joined this forum 2 years ago to vent my anger after watching the TLJ. I have not been back to the forum since yesterday.

About 6 months ago I forced myself to rent TLJ on itunes to see if I had actually watched it. Because everyone said it was great.

I got halfway through it then turned it off. I must be a man baby.

The best bit was when Luke caught that big fish. It was pure Star Wars.

Did anyone notice there are no trees on that island. Just wondering where he got that very long 'wooden' pole from.

IIRC, it was actually some kind of stinger or tail spine.. Think "giant horseshoe crab."

just briefly: it’s your opinion that he made a bad film. By all rights and critics, he made a good film, you just didn’t like it. That’s fine, but be mindful. That, and weren’t his remarks to the subset of haters that were trashing Kelly and Laura just for being in the film?

On topic: a lot of moments were top for me. -Luke’s lessons leading back into his reconnecting with the Force and Leia, his talk with Yoda and his talk with Ben in on Crait.
-The twist on both Rey’s and Kylo’s visions, a reminder that visions aren’t always what they seem.
-Regardless of the arguments around it, the visuals of the Holdo Maneuver were fantastic, the silence stunning
-Stemming from the Luke talking to Ben, the entire idea of using the Force to project, to talk, to..really be what a Jedi was intended to be. The entire idea of Luke retaking the hero and Jedi legend to inspire the galaxy, even if he no longer feels like he is the hero or legend people think he is. I loved hearing RJ talk behind the scenes about the Force, and this idea that he wanted a more mystical, intimate side, using it less for amazing powers and more to just..talk.
    - And then...the twin suns as he becomes one with the Force..as bookends of his journey. Tatooine a sunset, and I believe Ahch-to was supposed to be a sunrise. Poetic.

Funny thing is that I first signed up to this place after TFA, and let me tell you...the hate was strong on that one.
"Jar-Jar Abrams" was a name thrown around quite a bit.

So you might enjoy JJ coming back to the helm, but considering how scores of fans reacted the last time he was up there, I'll be honest.
I won't be shocked if folks hate the film and belittle it and tear it apart as has been done to the last five saga films, and if I'm honest, the last seven saga films - because the first ripping into Star Wars I recall was ESB when I was a kid, and there were plenty of adults who thought it completely violated the integral spirit of ANH by making Luke part of a family of space wizards destined to greatness by prophecy, instead of being a person who rose to greatness through personal choice of rising to action at personal sacrifice (you know..."'Merica!" mythology).

So yeah...I'm not really expecting people to jump for joy just because it's Abrams. He's pretty well hated in many, many circles (go ask the Trekkies how they like him).

But here's to hoping that you enjoy the show! :D

    I know I will!
    (I'm an Abrams fanboy, tbh.)

    Cheers,
    Jayson

I always liked the scene of Leia walking through the space. It was beatiful made. But a lot of fans hated it.
After seeing TROS the scene makes much more sense, also.

    - I loved the scene of Luke's Force projection - from his appearance, to the interaction with Leia and Threepio and the reaction of all Resistance fighters. Really depicted Luke as a legend, and the visuals and music were fantastic.

    - Luke and R2 on the Falcon

    - Chewie and the pores

    - Snoke - from when Rey enters the throne room to his demise

    Door.jpg

When Rey shuts the door on Kylo. It takes place at the very end. And pretty much sums up Rey's journey and transformation of her character from girl who defines herself in others and being stripped of her naivety. To an older wiser young woman who is ready to lead. The look on her face is priceless, it's as if to say she's disapointed/disgusted in him and hence forward, the gloves are off.

I also liked Holdo's slapping down Poe and putting him in his place. She didn't just yell at him. She treated him as if he was a silly reckless child (which he had been) and that he should stay out of her way. While I think Poe was mad about it at the time, I think it gave him a reason to reflect and why he changes at the end of the film into a responsible leader.

Finn and Rose's relationship, Boyega and Trahn played off each other very well. And the fact that they had something constructive to do and weren't written or portrayed as a diversity check list.

DJ's betrayal. And portraying Luke as a man who has been worn down by life. Neither of them were safe choices. But on the other hand brought reality and real life experience to the franchise and made the film more rich.

At the end when Leia sits down beside Rey, and Rey asks her how they will rebuild the resistance. To which Leia responds "we have everything we need." She than places her hand over Rey's who is holding the two broken pieces of Luke's light saber. It meant nothing when I first saw it. But after seeing TROS I completely get it. Leia is telling Rey that 'everything they need'. Is Rey's tremendous force power, skills and ingenuity. And she is going to teach her how to put that to work by training her as a Jedi. Beautiful.

The Casino part, apparently this seems to be one of the reasons people hate the movie but I thought it was fun. It was like the better part of the other prequels.

I actually loved the cassino part too.

Especially the scene when we see the real codebreaker gambling. Looks very classy, fancy and there's that air of the movies noir from the 40's and 50's.

Disapointed yes, but she looks anything but digusted. That's what a disgusted face looks like

Rey couldn't wait to kiss him in tros. It's clear that Reylo was never off the table.
