What if Rey had been in Stasis?

O the Force please no!

 

A can of worms this is.

Well that would be one way to get you crazier plot possibilities:

1- She's not Luke and Leia's triplet she's Anakin's twin.
2- She's a clone kept on ice.
3- She the secret daughter Satine never told Obi-Wan about.
4- She is an ancient Sith apprentice found in stasis aboard Ashmede's Lock the Predori prison ship that crashed on Kysheek they moved her to the secret facility on Jakku where she was found by a scavenger who kept her around being nice to her telling the child with hibernation sickness that they were her family. When the time came she was sold to Plutt for a ticket off world. Poor thing mourn the loss of scavengers whose intent was to sell her all along.


Honestly I don't see it. The options that require stasis are complex.
1- If she's a clone why Jakku why stasis rather than a recent creation. If she was created by the empire and important she'd have been taken into Unknown Regions with the remnant.
2- If she's related to Palatine or Kenobi its simpler to make her a grand child. No need for the added narrative as to how or why stasis gurl ended up on Jakku.
3- If she's in stasis why not show her "birth" at the start of her story. Why does she remember being left on Jakku by who. It complicates narrative not clear it up.

 

For arguments sake, maybe Rey was in stasis in that Jakku observatory, Unkar found her there, and woke her up? She need not be a Palpatine, Kenobi etc...maybe her lineage isn't as important as who she actually might be.

 

Then who was flying away in the ship while Unkar pulled her away. Why dies she expect the return of family.

 

I'm surprised the Rey Solo groupies aren't all over this:
"In stasis...frozen in carbonite...another thing in common with Han!".

However, I think it a strong possibility that she could've been frozen in time - perhaps in connection with Palpatine's contingency...

 

Again, this is for arguments sake, but

Rey's survival Guide mentions that she isn't waiting for family....she is waiting for her people to return. Also she is wearing battle dress as confirmed by PH....since there has been no major war on the GFFA since Endor, the people she was waiting for could have existed a long time ago....and are therefore not returning (like Maz told her).

And I also recall that Rey's vision was called an 'acid trip'....so for all we know, the ship leaving and Unkar grabbing her arm could be from two different events in her life mashed up in the vision.

 

I think placing her on Jakku was significant. It seemed to protect her from those who would sense her powers. Who did it and why is what I'd like to know, but I doubt Rey is going to have a shocking past. Just one that makes sense to the plot.

 

I don't know if she was placed there for her protection (nobody in their right mind would leave a 5-6 year old girl alone in a harsh desert to fend for herself for her protection)....she could have even been left there to die and those who left her there might assume she perished.

The one connection that might be important is the one she will have with Snoke (other than Kylo)....whether she is someone he will fear or want as his ally.

 

Could be Plutt pretended to be a good guy, assuring those who left her that she was safe, but once they were gone, he turned into a monster. Almost like Cinderella in a way.

 

JJ probably didn't know who her parents were when he wrote it, Your guess is as good as his so you're right in a way, She could be anybody lol

Rey didn't initially work for Unkar.... she worked for a couple of other scavengers first, one of whom was very kind to her....if Unkar had been the one reassuring her people that he was good, I feel he would not have allowed her to work for others. She also talks about being left on Jakku by mistake, which I find curious.

 

I think Plutt should have had a bigger role, so this could be explained.

Maybe it wasn't a mistake and she was lied to, or maybe they were hijacked? I just feel the people who left her were not her parents for some reason.

Seems plausible.

* she could have been a stasis baby, taken out of stasis a few years before being left on Jakku (Example: 1yr old, frozen, de-thawed X number of years later, grew up a bit on Y planet, dumped on Jakku)

* she could have been a stasis young girl, taken out closer to/just prior to being left on Jakku (Could explain the amnesia - her birth/childhood could have been years and years prior. Maybe even thousands of years ago. They thaw her out and she experiences a few things then, BAM, "we don't love you anymore" - off to Jakku she goes)
