Empire just upped the ante so much. I love all three. But I gotta go with Empire every time.

Maybe with your guidance the death star would have destroyed Yavin IV more quickly.

One of the hardest video game sequences ever! Super Empire Strikes Back for Super Nintendo was one of the hardest games to solve!

Is that the one where you had to hit the red spot on the back area just above the head?

I think so, as its been so long since I played that game. I just remember it was so hard to fly the XWing and trying to shoot the AT-AT's at the same time, as I wanted to throw my controller through the TV sometimes!

I love the old school effects. None of that clunky new-fangled 3d modeling.

My favorite is The Empire Strikes Back—it was the perfect blend of action, humor, character development and introduction, and new locations. Empire also dove deeper into the mythology of the Force which I greatly enjoyed; Dagobah could not have been a darker, more foreboding place to set the scene for Luke's training.
The visuals were really good for their time, and as many of you have pointed out, those AT-ATs look very threatening. And that's another thing. ROTJ was good, but Empire was better because they didn't need to rely on super weapons to write the story. Sure, the Empire had their big bad walkers and Star Destroyers, but we never had to witness another Death Star trench run to feel the danger. Instead, ESB used the danger within the hearts of villains—and heroes. Vader's revelation is a psychological turning point for Luke, and the dark tone and ending shows that the galaxy far, far away may not always be a happy place after all. I loved it.

Still they did not develop then what they have done now.

Empire. The most iconic image in my mind, and the very first bit of Star Wars I saw, was where the Stormtrooper march through the Death Star, but Empire isn't about action and fun. It's about making you realize that A New Hope happened because of the will of the Force, and the Empire still has a ridiculous amount of strength, And I still rank Vader vs. Luke as the best duel of all time, even though I am a PT-era kid, because Vader was plain TOYING with Luke, and had a great amount of artistry, great technical work (imo better than half of the ROTJ duel, Luke was silly wacking around his lightsaber), and the greatest line in all of movie history

And of course, Lando, Lobot, and Boba Fett

As a 5 year old boy, my favorite was RotJ because of metal-bikini Leia. Seriously.

But as of now, I would go for the unoriginal choice: TESB. :)

TESB has Dirty-Hands-Leia. Better than Metal-Bikini Leia, really.

Of course Empire is everyone's fav...or the majority anyway. Personally, ANH has my vote. That is a movie that I saw in theaters when I was 10 years old in '77.....and it changed my life forever. Yes ESB, was the BEST movie of the OT IMHO, but ANH is my favorite because of the imprint that it left on me.
