It's been rumor for a few months now that the third Star Wars Story would be announced in June. Today, we got confirmation from KK that that will be the case.

We've heard rumors about a Boba Fett standalone or a Bounty Hunters movie. And the fan favorite, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

What would you, as a fan, like to see?

A film that explores origins of the Jedi Order.

PS. That also stars Cate Blanchett and takes place (at least partially) on Ahch-To. That would be pretty cool.

IMO "The Knights of the Old Republic" needs to be a trilogy - at least 3 movies.

"An Obi-Wan Kenobi movie? What makes you think so"

Hehe. They will probably prolong this kind of film for us. Hope we get more Tatooine!

I honestly think it should be an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie. All we know about Obi-Wan's life on Tatooine is he watched over Luke, rescued Ezra Bridger and fought and finally killed Darth Maul. There was a book about his life on Tatooine called Kenobi, but it's now considered a part of the Expanded Universe (aka "Legends"), or in other words, non-canon. If they made a movie about him, it would surely be a huge hit. It doesn't even have to completely be about his life on Tatooine. Maybe some of it could be Obi-Wan's origin story - what happened to his family, how he became a Jedi, etc. Plus, if Ewan McGregor doesn't return in The Last Jedi and/or Episode IX (although I hope he does), this would be a great opportunity for him to return to the role of Obi-Wan.

And if Rey turns out to be related to Obi-Wan (I'm personally hoping she's both the daughter of Luke and a relative of Obi-Wan, therefore both a Skywalker and a Kenobi), this would be a great opportunity to see if Obi-Wan fell in love at some point on Tatooine and had a daughter, who eventually became Rey's mother and possibly Luke's wife. Or maybe the theory that I - as well as a few others - have that Korkie Kryze (Satine's nephew from The Clone Wars) is Obi-Wan and Satine's biological son is true and this could become a movie about the whole Kenobi family - Obi-Wan, Korkie & Korkie's daughter - and then we could learn that Korkie's daughter eventually falls in love with Luke and has Rey, the granddaughter of Anakin and great-granddaughter of Obi-Wan.

And this is just what I believe personally, but Korkie could also very well be the true identity of Lor San Tekka (I mean, the guy was on Jakku - the same planet as Rey. He was keeping a map to Luke's location, we know he has connections to Luke (there may even be some we're not aware of yet). Korkie and Tekka are both said to be as old as Obi-Wan and Satine's affair during the Mandalorian Civil War. And strangely enough, when Korkie disappeared, Tekka showed up. Plus, he looks a whole lot like Alec Guinness's Obi-Wan and yet he also looks a little like a live-action Satine. Honestly, at this point, anything is possible.)

Alright, alright, I know. I'm getting a little off-topic here. Sorry about that. But seriously though, I think the 2020 anthology movie should be about Obi-Wan Kenobi (or better yet, the Kenobi family ;))

I want to see an Obi-Wan Kenobi film in the same vain as the Legends book, Kenobi, with various tie-ins to the prequels, originals, and maybe even the sequels! I also wouldn't mind an Old Republic/pre-prequel spin-off and I would also like to see a spin-off about Ben Solo's turn to the dark side. It could have Mark Hamil reprise his role as Luke and perhaps the Force Ghosts can make an appearance here. It could have several tie-ins to the Jedi Order, all throughout time, as well as some more info about Snoke, The First Order/Empire, and the Knights of the Ren. (Well, any info we still don't know after the ST.)

I'm not a story teller by any means. KK did say that they have two ideas to choose from but if it is a Kenobi movie on Tatooine, wouldn't it be a little boring to have a movie about a beloved character and not have them doing much? He doesn't use his saber, that we know of, ( until Maul ) and he probably won't stray too far (off planet) so he can keep an eye on Luke. I just think people would want to see him do more than just hover around. Don't get me wrong, I love Kenobi and if they can make it work. Go for it!!

It could be like RO where there are "flashbacks" and whatnot showing events from Obi-Wan's past.

Exactly! Maybe something like Darth Vader #24, where we see Oni-Wan facing the demons from his past. That will give 'me an excuse to bring back Qui-Gon, Maul, Satine, Vader/Anakin, Dooku, or Grievous.

That is a great idea! :)

I can see the movie being half an origin story and half a story of his life on Tatooine. Imagine the movie being narrated by Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor) himself. We see Obi-Wan on Tatooine, watching over Luke, wandering around Tatooine, remembering the rise of the Empire and his duel with Anakin and learning how to become a Force ghost. And then we also get flashbacks of Obi-Wan's life before the prequels, showing what happened to his family, how he became a Jedi, etc.

The story doesn't necessarily need to take place in time between Sith and ANH but many think because of his age, it needs to be. Ewan has aged well and with the right makeup he could pull off a story during TCW.

Disney and the new LSG seem to be distancing the new movies so far away from the PT that I'd be a little shocked if they brought in Ewan McGregor to play Kenobi again. It would be a pleasant surprise however since I loved him as Obi-Wan.

Tatooine is a big planet. There could be a lot Obi-Wan was getting into. A couple of Star Wars comic chapters gave us one idea - that he doesn't want to get involved as to not to reveal himself, but at the same time isn't able to go against his conscience and character and basically becomes Batman. :D

And there is whole mythological side of the story - him interacting with Qui-Gon and learning how to become the Force Ghosts. Yoda's trials were great in animation, imagine Obi-Wan's in live action.

And this is just off the top of my head - and I am not a story teller either. Imagine what a brain trust at Lucasfilm could do, with the great director (so far they chose pretty well) and actor like Ewan McGregor.

One of the more important reasons why they are distancing themselves is that PT is distant from the sequel trilogy, about 50-60 years distant (19 years from RotS to ANH, about 4-5 years for OT and 30 years between RotJ to TFA).

But, that Canto Bight casino (and Dern's character design) give off pretty PT vibe to me.

Obi Wan is such a strong character with such an amazing actor and strong support from the fans that if Ewan was willing should definitely do more than one Kenobi movie. In my ideal world it would be a trilogy with each movie being a unique genre.

The first movie would be set during the clone wars and focus on Obi Wan and an underrepresented Jedi like Kit Fisto, obviously this would be a very war-like movie and allow for Temuera Morrison to play the clones with personality like in TCW. Maybe have a Hayden cameo and possibly Samuel L. Jackson.

The second would be an psychedelic adventure film about Obi Wan's journey to becoming a force ghost and the trials he must take (like Yoda's in TCW arc). This would be early in his exile and would look pretty much like he does in Ep. 3. It would feel very Dr. Strange-esque with the reality bending style. The climax would feature Obi Wan having to face his "dark side" (like Shadow Yoda) but instead of it being an evil Obi Wan he has to face Anakin who turns into Vader during the fight. So we get to see what an intense fight between suited up Vader and Obi Wan would be like. The whole movie would feature Qui Gon's voice guiding him and maybe feature Neeson as a vision during the trials.

The third would be a very 7 Samurai/ Magnificent 7 type movie about Luke being kidnapped and Owen asking Obi Wan to save him. Obi Wan would be much closer to Old Ben by now and we would see Ewan with grey/white hair. Obi Wan and Owen go off and along the way begin to meet others who have troubles with the gang who kidnapped Luke (Jabba's men). The only returning character would be Cad Bane who is no longer a respected Bounty hunter due to Boba basically forcing him out. Cad Bane recognized Kenobi but only makes passing reference to it. Obi Wan would go the entire movie without using the saber and only melee or blaster fighting. Everyone is killed except Owen, Ben, and Cad Bane and the gang gets overconfident. A sandstorm comes which leads to an amazing sequence of the gang being picked off (Batman style) and the only thing they can see is the glow of his saber in the sand. Obi Wan defeats them and as the storm disperses we see that Cad Bane was shot in the scuffle and he admits to Obi Wan that he knew it was him and says that it is good to die for something instead of just dying in some cesspool. Ben and Owen retrieve Luke and the final shot is Obi Wan and Owen parting ways under the Twin Suns.

I'd be gutted if Lucasfilm don't go ahead with an Obi-Wan film. For me this character was the best thing about the prequels and I'd love to see what happens to Obi-wan between ROTS and ANH.

Ewan McGregor is a fantastic actor and if he's up for making this film then I think Lucasfilm would be crazy not to go ahead with it.
