Some idiot's going to call me a heretic for this.

There's a thread over in the 'Prequel Trilogy' forum asking what 7 things people would change about that whole trilogy. Granted, there are a lot of things that I would change (I am rewriting the Prequels in my spare time because...you know...) but that doesn't mean the OT is completely immune to changes as well.

Honestly the only changes I'd make would be in 'Return of the Jedi'-Boba deserved a better send-off (look I'm not a total Boba fanboy devoted to the 'badassery' he displays in TESB but let's be honest, his role was terrible) and I would have interchanged Endor/Unnamed moon of Endor for Kashyyyk. I know they didn't have the tech to bring to life the Kashyyyk we saw in ROTS, and the Ewoks appealed to the kids, but I think introducing Kashyyyk would have a) made the film more personal for the cast, being Chewie's home, b) given Chewie a bit more backstory/importance in the film, and c) the planet would have been more important to the story than it was in ROTS-it would be an actual story point as opposed to a temporary backdrop to INTRODUCE CHEWIE FOR NO REASON.

So then, dare I ask-what would you change about the Original Trilogy?

i would consider making the storm troopers more of a threat...the pilots were about the only ones who had skills!

In ROTJ, would replace the ewoks with wookies. Endor becomes Kashyyk; and the prelude to the surface battle will look something like this:

I love that 'Mr. T' wookie with the big gun..(chewie)

    BLASPHEMY!!! Just kidding.
I would go in and fix all the rotoscoping of the lightsabers so they match the PT and same with the blaster bolts. Just tidy them up to look more in sync with the rest of what's going on.

With the exception of the aforementioned story alterations that's something else I would do. If nothing else (just to keep the die-hard fans happy) I'd basically keep the films exactly the same as the 'original editions' (basically what they were before Lucas started changing things) except I'd update the effects/audio, add depth to particular shots with CGI etc-there was a photo I saw somewhere from IV showing some Tatooine landscape as originally produced, and then that same landscape with extra moisture vaporator thingies. That's what I mean by depth.

So yeah other than those ROTJ changes I'd basically want new, clean and unobtrusively updated with CGI versions of the OT.

In JEDI I would also change the battle on Endor to Kashyyk(But keep the Ewoks in the movie).Star Wars is pretty awesome,so no need to change much(I'd drop the Jabba scene from the SE,though.I think his intro in JEDI was perfect).Empire is my favorite, but I'd drop out the kiss between Luke and leia.Even if Lucas didn't know about Leia being his sister,it was not needed, because we all knew she was gonna end up with Han in the end of the trilogy.I think the updated and added graphics and the cleaned up ones in the 2004 release are great. Those I understood.

I think I was gonna really make a big change, it would be to make Luke and Leia NOT siblings. THEN Yoda's "There is another" is way more mysterious. Then Leia can actually choose Han and not just end up with Han by default. Or Luke can reject Leia for his new devotion to the Jedi ways. Or Luke and Leia end up together and Han and Chewie fly off into the sunset. Just an idea. Don't shoot.

I'd put a little less Lando and a little more Luke in the finale of Jedi. No offense to Lando, but it just seemed wrong for anybody but Han to be piloting the Falcon. And the space battle wasn't nearly as important as what was happening in the throne room between Luke, Vader, and the Emperor. I would have liked to see more temptation for Luke. The Emperor saying "Now kill your father and take your place at my side" wasn't very convincing. Offer him something other than to be the Emperor's next enforcer, like "Bow down before me and I'll order the Death Star to stop shooting your helpless friends," or something that would actually appeal to Luke.

I agree, Lando should just take to governing Cloud City, they like him there, Han will always be in the front seat of the millennium falcon, there also should be more Luke as well he knew because he was younger than Vader to know the emperor would want him to kill his father & in due time Luke would meet the same fate.

Strangely.... I would have made the Jabba's Palace a darker and scarier place. Not a child-friendly zone... and the SE made it worst.

Note, I love Return of the Jedi... But, it's probably the only movie from the whole Star Wars Saga so far, including the Prequels, that would beneficiate from a remake. The story is solid, the acting is quite decent... Only the tone used in the Jabba scenes and maybe a little more drama in the Ewok battle.

i would do the following changes:

→stormtroopers more badass, making them a bigger threat (like the clonetroopers in the PT)

→more non human characters (almost every rebel in ANH and TESB is a human. there are more non human rebels in ROTJ but stil not enough. it is a galaxy of thousands of inhabitat star systems. if it would be realistic you would rarely see a human.)

→another way to destroy death star | (honestly nobody would have build this hole)

    →more jedi training for luke

→more time passes between the movies to give luke more time for jedi training

→lightsaber fighting more badass (like in the PT)

    Welcome to The Cantina Ziyos!

I thought the same thing.... more training for Luke! That I think lacked in the OT.

    Sticks fingers in ears

Lalalalalaaaaaaalaaaaaaaa.... Blasphemy! sacrilege! Not of the body (trek reference)! Not listening!

No changes, no remakes, no reboots of the OT!!!! It is a landmark of Western Culture!

(Well, ok, the Wookiees/Kashyyk idea is sound, and it would have opened fewer plot holes if they had cast a 50ish actor to play the unmasked Vader rather than the elderly fellow they chose. ;) )

I don't know, maybe send the Stormtroopers back to the shooting range and have Vader force-choke any who can't consistently hit the X-Ring.

I love all things AT-AT, so more AT-AT action would have been cool.

And I like the idea of the final battle being with the Wookies instead of the Ewoks.

Other than those minor things, I've always been pretty happy with the OT. Also, I like the subtle changes made in the SE, like more troopers and TIE Fighters in the Death Star scenes, and the way they expanded on the look of Cloud City. I didn't like the in your face stuff though. All that extra crap pulling into Mos Eisley was not needed, and other things like Han stepping on Jabba's tail were totally un-needed, and distracting.
