    If you re-watch the OT... Chewbacca is sent to jail (On Bespin and in Jabba's Palace) with his bandolier and Wookie's purse.

    Normally, you would not put a prisoner in jail with weapons and/or explosive...

    So... probably, when they double-checked... they found out it was harmless..

    So... The Bandolier must be only fashion, and what's in the purse... probably they emptied the content before sending him to his cell...

    And... if there was something harmful in the purse, it would have been confiscated.

    Maybe they emptied the purse to find out that he was carrying funny and useless and casual stuff, they got a big laugh, put it back in... and that's why Chewie is pissed in these scenes.

    Maybe it's a private object Chewbacca is ashamed of showing in public....

    In all seriousness, he probably has credits and a handheld hologram communicator. Couldn't find a picture but like the ones you see on the clone wars series. Since he is a hunter he is also a gatherer, so I would assume the rest is empty space for storing things he gathers along the way.

    lol...I used to play Star Wars Galaxies and their was a filter for character names. I loved seeing all the creative ways people got around it. I had a character called MikeHawk.
