HUMOR When the lights go dim................

Serious question for the guys here at the cantina.

Will you guys be disappointed if the movie opens up with lukes lightsaber tumbling in space?

I didn't like it when I heard the rumor but i'm expecting it so it doesn't take me out of the movie IF it happens.

 

I won't be disappointed in the entire movie, just that the first shot is goofy. Then I'll just get on with the rest of the story.

That said, considering everything we've seen and the aroma of playing it safe that's all over this film, I'd bet all my credits the opening shot is a Star Destroyer, possibly deploying the stormtrooper drop ships.

 

The reason I believe that the rumor might be true is that, how else does lukes lightsaber get on Jakku??

 

Some one should do an animation to see what it would look like... you might be surprised.

 

Why would Disney buy something that basically promotes 20th Century Fox when they can use something they already own or make something new? It won't sell any more tickets, so why pay what would very likely be an insane price?

 

When the lights go dim and the Lucasfilm logo comes up, I'll most likely have goosebumps the rest of the night haha

 

Depends on how it is handled. If they try to make it look like a ship at first, it would be laughable, but if they maybe show other debris and the camera finds and follows the saber (kind of like the probe in ESB), that could be interesting. Someone seeing the saber land could look similar to Luke seeing the probe hit.

 

Anything like a sabre entering a planet's atmosphere would burn up, anyway.

Every SW film's opening shot has been a spaceship. I can't see it not being the case with Ep VII

 

I shall slurp on my drink bottle to contain a long my Wookie roar whilst standing up that will inevitably cause someone to tell me to shut up and sit down.

 

What's an insane price? It's not even a charted song. I've heard of low budget movies paying $15 g's for 15 second rights to songs. Using the sound without the logo wouldn't really be promoting Fox, as much as it would be promoting the feel of the OT.

I think that the opening could be of Luke's lightsaber tumbling through space, but it has always opened up with ships of some kind, so I doubt it will most likely happen, but I have been wayyyy wrong before on my SW predictions in the prequels.

On opening night... Wow, just thinking about it gives me the happy, warm feeling already and the main trailer isn't even out yet. When I get in the atmosphere of waiting with everyone else in line for the movie, I will be just so happy and running on adrenaline. As soon as the lights go down for that movie, I will be wide-eyed sitting next to friends and family and just feeling completely small in an infinite universe and yet still in control of only myself. Then we see the LFL logo come up with a potential new theme or maybe the same sound effect used in teaser 2. -Fades to black-

-Edge of my seat waiting as if for my entire life depends on this one moment-​

And then.... it hits! -And I exhale and mouth goes wide-

and so it begins... With those two famous words and the most beautiful music in cinematic history by none other than John Williams himself. He is probably my most favorite composer of all time and I have so much respect for that man.

And for the rest of that movie, I will probably be crying from time to time, shouting if anyone else is, and just watching for every single detail that my eyes and ears can pick up. There will be some really great high points in the movie and also some really dark, low points. Be ready guys, this movie will change your perception on how well a movie can be done. I know all of you will be there mostly on opening night. Just thinking about how I would feel in my seat is just making me more and more nervous. Just right now on October 8, almost 70 days away from the release of the movie, I am sitting here just mind-blown thinking about this moment in the theaters. The feeling I am feeling is no longer even nostalgia, but it is something more than that to the point I can't even explain in text.

Please please let all the leaks and rumors be fake because I couldn't resist the temptations of knowing what happens before the movie comes out spoiling for myself and everyone around me in my life. Please oh please let it all be false so I can be surprised like a child with no internet in the 70's!!!! Please oh please I beg this of you all mighty force!

Well... for my part... I've hard difficult times in the last year and a half. For me, Star Wars Episode VII is something that, in moments of pure and absolute darkness, helped me to hang on and survive. I don't want to be dark or melodramatic, but I truly mean it... from the bottom of my heart... at this very moment, when the lights go dim... first, I'll thank myself for being strong, and tell myself... it's your reward for hanging on, you'll get to see what comes next to where you left the story in 1983, 32 years ago, at what you consider being one of the best memories you had with your brother and your father.

That's the magic of Star Wars. Sometimes it makes a difference.

What insane price? The insane price Fox would charge a competing company, especially one as big as Disney, for using their signature music. Do you actually think 20th Century Fox would loan or sell their own fanfare to Disney for a descent price? Everyone knows that music goes with 20th Century Fox. It makes no sense at all for Disney to use the music to generate nostalgia that no one will care about once they see the movie itself. It will not give them one more cent to use it.
