Wow. Dude has been suffering some weight/bone density loss. Poor fella. Then again, it has been 30 some odd years. Perhaps, in 30 more years I reach, look as good, I will not?

There was concept art of Leia talking to a council of Hutts. Doesn't sound like it made the movie, though.

Sure have. His costume somewhat resembles the character with the peg-leg in the VF photo. Could be him. Maybe not.

I've seen the video more times than I can count. :) And the costume that I see Pegg wearing somewhat resembles the character with the peg leg. Also, Pegg leg? It writes itself.

I can also see the differences, so there's no need to point them out to me. But of all the new aliens and creatures we've seen, that one most resembles the partial costume we see Simon Pegg wearing in the video. There's no harm in wondering aloud in a speculation thread, is there?

But we see the Peg leg alien and actor at 1:52.

I've seen a lot of both recognizable aliens and new ones -- some are from the OT.

I was going to write my own reply to the first quote, but this captures what I feel 100%.

Wait, what? Which two? That prune faced guy is the same actors but looks like a different alien to me. Who is the second?

Oh course, this will probally garner arguments on whether this is exactly the same species or not, but since we have been playing semantics anyway, he can be a familiar species and not be the same species.

Oh course, some people have to be reminded that Mama June and an aboriginal tribesman are of the same species yet look different.

The two aliens in question are simular enough you can make a strong case.

There are others in this picture that are familiar also if not the same species.

I'm not even sure which one is supposed to look like a Baragwin (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Baragwin).

I'm not trying to play semantics. I took "familiar" to mean a reoccurring species that was seen in a prior live action film.

To play it looser than that, then sure almost everything screams start wars and is thus "familiar".

p.s. Lol I didn't know what a Mama June was, had to google. Thought it was a bug reference at first.

He is to the right of blue beard.

The semantics reference wasn't aimed at you, it was more aimed at the guy I was responding to before, who wondered where all of the familiar aliens were, and was then confused when I suggested where they might be because he never "asked" for their location. So if I'm using his semantics, familiar doesn't have to mean same species it can just mean simular, but I realize the original intention of that term's use was to infer same species.

I was also referencing the fact that forum members have to argue about absolutely everything. So even though to me there are enough simularites to show they are the same species, someone will find some arbitrary and illogical reasoning why that is wrong.

There were lots of aliens from the cantina that were used more than once and even in the prequels. Ithorians, Rodians, Aqualish, Bith, Jawas, Pacithhip and Arconas are all aliens from the cantina that were used in the prequels. The podrace scene alone has lots of aliens from both ANH and ROTJ.

I comented on this on my own post regarding SW aliens. I too am really bummed that so far I haven't seen the familiar aliens that we are all used to seeing in the crowds. All I'm seeing is a bunch of new aliens that so far are not doing it for me and I'm really hoping that we don't have to see more things like this showing up:

I definitely would like to see some familiar aliens as well, but if we go by the movies, we don't tend to see familiar aliens unless we are visiting planets that we have already seen, or a planet like Coruscant which is a giant galactic melting pot. It makes sense that we would see a lot of familiar aliens on Tattooine for instance, since that planet has appeared in 5 of the 6 movies so far. Other than Coruscant in Episode I, we never see really see familiar aliens on new planets, unless they are there for a specific meeting, like seeing Nute Gunray on Geonosis in AOTC for example. Going by that logic, if TFA doesn't include any planets from the previous trilogies, its unlikely that we will see many familiar aliens.

This doesn't mean that I don't want to see familiar aliens in the new movies, I definitely do, but it would certainly explain why we don't see many in this film of course, which in turn wont bother me to greatly. At the very least I'm very happy to see that both Ackbar and Nien Nunb are coming back. I do definitely want to see the old favorites like the Rodians, Bith, etc. make appearances as the new trilogy progresses.

What's odd though is that I have read posts saying (SPOILER ALERT!!!) that planet Jakku is just like Tattooine and Mos Eisley in that the planet was once abandoned but has now become a hive of scum and villany as well after the crew of the fallen Star Destroyer colonized it. Here's the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/32xn10/spoilers_heard_a_couple_minor_plot_elements/ I don't want to get into much spoiler details but if this info is legit then it would be very logical that many of the known species of aliens would end up in Jakku to plunder it.

It makes sense that we might see some familiar faces, but plenty of new ones as well, after all, the galaxy is an absolutely huge place. C-3PO is fluent in over six million forms of communication. I definitely would like to see some familiar aliens, but I can see how they would justify having almost all new ones in this film.
