I think there is couple different questions here. The bigger question for me is who can be successful in other roles not only getting other roles but have the viewers embraced them in those roles and made you forget the role that made them ala Harrison Ford. For example Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe have succeeded in finding roles that are different from Harry and Hermione but I would argue they haven't still broke from those role, at least for me. I still see Harry every time I see Daniel in a movie. I think others do too and that is why he hasn't found new success. Odd roles he chooses doesn't help. He hasn't had another character to define him yet. Emma is lucky to have landed the Belle role in the new live action beauty and the beast movie Disney is making. I saw her in some small movie trailer, and it was odd because all I could see was Hermione not being herself.

Ridley-Most endanger because this is her big and only real role. People can google whoever actor they want to see and find other roles they have done and that helps to fight off typecast in people's mind and how you get written about.

Christy-I think she is already typecast thanks to GOT and her stature. Is why she was cast as Phasma

Andy Serkis-He is defining a whole new acting in motion capture category. I bought him as Claws in AOU. Didn't even recognize him because I had no idea what Andy Serkis looked like. Never bother to google him.

Lupita Nyong'o-Her big challenge is getting Hollywood to cast dark skin women in movies. Despite winning Oscar, she is only being offered voice work. Dark skin women are typecast into certain roles no matter what they have done. Hollywood has go to black woman (mixed light skin) when casting for non stereotype roles. Use to be Halle Barry, Zoe Saldana and now it looks like gugu mbatha-raw is being groomed. Dark skin dudes have it more easy.

The rest are save. If viewers want to find out what else their new favorite actor has done, they have movies they can rent and watch.
Boyega-He only has one role but is very good role and great movie. Moses doesn't seem anything like Finn from what I've seen on trailer.
    Driver-has work
Issac-already pretty well established actor already.
    Gleeson-has work

Hmmmm.....I'm going to have to say Daisy Ridley. John Boyega I don't really see it. As for breakout "superstar", probably Oscar Isaac or maybe Adam Driver is what I'm thinking....

    Yep.
Daisy and John will be known for this forever. Their roles are just too big to ignore.
Like Hamill and Fisher, Daisy will always be Rey; Boyega will always be Finn. Their fates are sealed.
It's possible that the same might happen to Driver as well....time will tell.

It is interesting that many are choosing Daisy in this poll. Honestly, I am leaning towards Poe at this point.

It depends if they go on to star in a bunch of movies, like Harrison Ford, or be like Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.

I think Gwendoline Christie and Andy Serkins are already typecast.

I don't think we'll have to worry about Driver, Isaac, or Gleason being typecast. They have managed to stay relatively off the radar in terms of big pictures while also building credibility on a reasonably variable body of work.

So that leaves Boyega and Ridley. I would say that they are in the greatest danger of being typecast as a result of the movie- if, for no other reason, than that they are the youngest and have the thinnest body of work to date. That is the real danger for young actors to take such a big step so early with a major film franchise that is now truly a part of corporate Hollywood.

But Poe is already going to be in X-men, so I kind of think he is the safest of the new cast...

I don't see how Serkis would be typecast. He'll be completely unrecognizable as Snoke. Personally, I don't think his voice is all that distinct to be immediately recognizable, either- certainly not like JEJ.

Yeah and I wouldn't call Serkis typecast already as someone did. He has a business that employs people, that is centered around mocap work, thats his profession.

When I say "typecast," I am referring to the content of Hollywood Studio-centered work. Serkis' Hollywood film work is primarily steered in a particular direction- playing mocap villains.

Certainly, outside of Hollywood, he has another body of work- as many actors who are also typecast by Hollywood studios do. But Hollywood over time has been proven to be interested in Andy Serkis mainly for one thing. And that is a shame, because he is a brilliant actor in addition to his brilliant mocap work.

I think the results of this poll are getting it right in terms of the ordinal ranking.

Personally, I would say that Isaac and and Gleeson are on the same level. They've already got quite a range behind them already and are well regarded for their work to date. Ex-Machina was already a huge success for them artistically and business-wise, and throwing Star Wars on top of it will really take them to the next level. They will be the biggest stars to come out of this new trilogy, with Oscar Isaac being the Harrison Ford of the Sequels. He has star quality written all over him.

Really (mocap) villains, I'm counting Gollum and now Snoke. I'm not sure how to classify King Kong, but I definitely do not include Caesar as a villain..
He is Klaw in the Marvel universe, but that is not mocap...

    Am I missing any?

that is possible also. Perhaps Boyega can be the next action actor.
