I wish they'd kept the scene in TFA where Kylo finds the Millennium Falcon...the part where he stands in the cockpit of his father's ship was genuinely heartbreaking, and foreshadowed that post murdering him he would be haunted by that act for the rest of his life.

This discussion is focused on the PT, but feel free to start one on the OT if you would like.

No one here has said the OT was perfect or even alluded to it from what I can tell. I don't see the point in getting bothered by something that you yourself are projecting on others.

The scenes about the Rebel Alliance were cool, but I don't think they made sense. It seems unlikely that these senators would start a rebellion immediately after Palpatine takes power and not wait and see what happens or try to do things through official channels. Also, the Rebel Alliance starts right after order 66, but they win their first victory 19 years later? That's according to ANH's opening crawl. I think it makes more sense that the rebellion starts after years of bad behavior by the Empire.

The family meeting/dinner is a non-evil satirical deconstruction, of the SW saga's lore. I agree, that the scene should have been left in, for its a deconstruction whose happiness is too happy to be left out
