The one thing he couldn't have is the 1977 movie. That's owned by FOX.. pereptually. Basically on 10/30/12 Iger owned this:
And supposedly this (why they didn't bother to use any of it is a fair critique of TFA IMHO):
And a future promise of aquiring these:
But he can never have this; FOX owns it, not LFL:

FOX execs will do 'Foxconn Bungie' before they give up this.
So, from a business standpoint, it's not a question of would Iger make a facsimile.. but when he instructed JJ to do it. Yes, Into Darkness is purportedly(again, didn't see it) a knockoff of TWoK, but Star Trek 2009 was a knockoff of.. what exactly? I've seen a $#!&ton of Trek as a kid and I still can't figure out what that story is supposedly a knockoff of. Where's V'ger in that movie? And that's the reboot movie, not Into Darkness.

Don't remember that. In the book The Art of TFA there are a lot of concept designs about Jakku being a water planet. There is a nice drawing of Rey/Kira diving in the seas of the planet and we can see a lot of imperial vehicles and ships sunked.

Yea, I really wish Jakku could have been a junk planet, as they called it in early concept art. If there was one thing I could change about the movie, it would honestly be this.

This planet seems so cool and original for Star Wars, a fitting location that really sets the tone for a galaxy 30 years after the war. It gives me a sort of Wall-E vibe.

Some pics that I took from my TFA book that shows some concepts for de junk planet. In all of them they worked with the idea of a sunked Death Star. The character we see diving is Kira, later they changed the name to Rey.
