she could be Luke's adopted daughter
if Luke=Lucas, then it makes sense that Luke would adopt a girl.

Again, I hate to disagree, but Kyle counted amongst his source(s) someone who had seen literal still photos/ renderings from the film (in addition to portions of the script).

Look, I don't mind Daisy being Luke's apprentice from 10 years back, and I don't mind her being a force-sensitive orphan junk dealer (who accidently stumbles upon this lightsaber that sends her on her quest) either. But she cannot be both. It is silly and convoluted and just bad storytelling. There is simply no way she was the padawan of the galaxy's greatest Jedi (Luke) and yet still had no idea what a lightsaber was when she finds it ten years later!! All the leaked artwork and Jason at MakingStarWars seem to hammer this point home.

I've dug Kyle's posts from the beginning, and have championed them (and him) in older posts that I've made. But there seems a growing divergence between his plotlines, and the artwork/MSW narrative that is now taking hold. I'd love to hear either Kyle or Jason's opinions on this divergence.

I will be disappointed if the movie passes the torch to someone that is not from the Skywalker line. The Episode Star Wars films are about the Skywalker Family.
You can have tons of other Star Wars movies but imho if it is not about the Skywalker's then it should not carry Episode in its title.

I agree, the main character which all the rumors point at being Daisy should be a Skywalker bloodline character.

wasn't there a rumor that the script change was because JJ felt that the story should be about the Skywalker family line?

seriously, why bring back all 3 of the BIG THREE if their kids are not important to the plot of VII?

I really hope this stuff isn't true.

Jedi imposters really aren't as interesting as the idea that Jedi, or even force sensitives, have to hide their abilities.

So Luke waited what 15 years to pick a single apprentice? And, what, she is the only orphan in the entire galaxy??

He escaped and then just went into hiding?

    This is bad all around

I feel like this will be included in some expository dialogue from the cyborg character.

"A Jedi? Ha! These days, there's Jedi everywhere! Back in my day..."

But his attitude changes upon seeing the lightsaber...

i like the fake Jedi/Sith idea a lot. it makes sense, too: prior to the Purge the Jedi were pretty keen on swooping up Force-sensitive kids asap for training, which is a pretty good call because otherwise people would be running around with semi-super powers and no guidance, or lessons of responsibility. now that the Order is gone there is no one to rein in the multitude of Force-sensitive individuals that are undoubtedly popping up. in an environment like that i wouldn't be surprised if mini-Orders started springing up, the strongest member of which declares themselves leader, like some Force barbarian society.

lol i dunno, just spit balling :)

i agree with Poodoo in that these plot lines are starting to get pretty disconnected...

    Thanks, Kyle. Great post. :)

Does your source know anything about whether or not Gwen Christie's character is a Force user? There are rumors that she carries a lightsaber, and I'm curious about whether or not:

    A) All stormtroopers carry them now
    B) She and Boyega are part of a special unit of troopers that carry them, or
    C) She is a Force user like Driver's character

Or maybe she doesn't carry one after all? There were rumors that the wampa claw saber was hers.

I heartily agree. If this trilogy is the final act of a three trilogy arc, it would be quite strange if the "Skywalker Saga" is resolved by a random crew of unrelated oddballs thrown together and introduced in Episode VII (of 9 Episodes total...a little late in the game).

There will be an heir to the Skywalker bloodline, and I am fairly certain it will be Daisy Ridley. Again, that's just speculation on my part. But I just feel that Han's death carries so much more meaning if it's done in sacrifice for his daughter. It would give the saga such great emotional depth, and allow Harrison Ford to have the kind of dramatic impact (for his character) that he's wanted in this franchise for 30 years now. It just makes too much sense from a storytelling perspective.

Daisy could then use her father's death as a catalyst to finally face her true destiny as a Skywalker....as her real ancestry was kept secret from her by her mother (Leia) in order to protect her. That is why she is surprised when she discovers the lightsaber in the junkyard....because she has never seen one before! (Leia would not allow Luke to train her because of the whole, you know, Anakin Sith disaster, plus Jedi are seen as pariahs in the galaxy) That is why she is living in the AT-AT, she left home in her late teens because her parents would not allow her to serve in the Republic/Rebellion fleet, and she (force) sensed her mother was lying about who she really was (and what was really going on). So Ridley went on a journey of self-discovery. (Kind of like how college kids go backpacking across Europe...)

But like Uncle Owen with Luke...Leia cannot keep Daisy from her destiny forever....

So the scene with Daisy in the throne room could be the evil baddie trying to turn her??

From what I've heard, Ridley is the daughter of Han and Leia. Other than that Kyle´s post makes sense. There are clearly no Sith or Jedi in organized form at the beginning of VII.

-if she is their daughter, then why is she on a Desert Planet by herself?
-have you heard anything about any other legacy characters in VII?

Maybe Han and Leia are denying all knowledge of her existence to protect her. If she will be the first proper Jedi since Luke, she would clearly be a target.

Hello. Again, I would like to reiterate that this is a small plot point and I'm not sure if it will even be in the film. Source has seen bits of the script, from what he/she is guessing to be multiple drafts, both Arndt and Abrams/Kasdan.

A lot of what I am hearing is starting to blur. I would like to say I respectfully disagree with the scene speculation of Daisy taking the lightsaber to MVS for it to be identified. I believe she knows what the lightsaber is and who it belongs to. If that scene plays out in the final film, I beleive she is asking the cyborg for help in determining how the lightsaber came to the planet, possibly traces of where it last was.

Good to see this place up and running again. Haven't been able to get on since last night.

Depends on where you heard that she is Han's daughter... if you heard it from the rest of us shootin blast around the water cooler, then add lots of grains of salt...

Not sure why you think there are clearly no Sith or Jedi... we have from interviews heard that the Jedi are a major part of this, just not in an expected way, which will be a hard thing to do if there aren't any Jedi around

If things were that bad, they wouldn't have had her in the first place... and (points to Leia) there are plenty of ways to hide someone in plain sight

There are neither Jedi nor Sith in ORGANIZED form. Force sensitive people wielding light sabres - yes. Sith - as in the master and the apprentice who follows an ideal, or Jedi as an order - highly unlikely. Luke tried to build something but got sidetracked.

Going into speculation territory: I don't think her parents know of her whereabouts. They may think she's dead. I know she's kinda stranded there for the time being. The planet is cut off, due to the breakdown of galactic trade routes. I still don't know, however, which planet it is, or why it once was important enough to battle for. Tatooine doesn't make much sense.

Faraci and Making both said that the Planet is not Tatooine.
