Will we hear any music from the prequels in TFA at all?

Discussion in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' started by Emperor Abrams, Nov 28, 2015.

?

Should elements from the prequel soundtracks show up in The Force Awakens/sequel trilogy scores?

I hope that we will hear PT music in ST as well.
Music in all 6 Star Wars movies is just amazing.

Music I see they can use are:

    1. Duel of the fates ( obviously ) - This music theme would fit with any fight that involves dark side users.

    2. Separatist March - This theme would also fit with any fight that involves troopers.

    3. Funeral Theme - This music theme would fit perfectly with any sad situations

    4. Jedi Temple March - Would also fit

I really like ''Across The Stars'' theme, its one of my favorite.
But that theme is Padme/Anakin's love theme, so any way they would be able to use that theme would be for flashback or cameo involving Padme or Anakin.

Hmm. The more we talk about it the less likely it seems to me. Of all of those pieces, only Duel of the Fates is usable IMHO. The others are either specific to events or to plots (Separatists theme was used throughout the trilogy to indicate Palpatine's plan unfolding).

But that's just me. What I do know is that if there is PT music in there, it'll be very significant. It'll be fun figuring out what it would mean.

PT soundtrack was great great stuff. Thinking over the themes, if I were to use the PT soundtrack as a call-back you know what I'd think would work really well, the song called Padmé's Ruminations. Use this in a pivotal Rey scene. That would be great.

They did play some of "Battle Of The Heroes" in the first TV spot, if I remember, but that may not mean anything...

Eh, I'd rather have new material than even more references to the previous scores.

yeah it's unlikely that themes besides the main theme, the force theme and leia's theme are bound to show up. i really hope he knocks it out of the park and creates new themes that we'll love just as much as the older ones.

I've got pretty high expectations for the new score, not only did Williams invested a lot of his time into it but he's at the top of his musical genius (despite his health problems). Who knows, he might surprise us with his best score yet. But some reworked Duel of Fates would be nice.

While I wouldn't mind hearing variations from the pt, I prefer having new original tracks by the awesome John Williams. What's so great about his score is that they're so distinct and memorable, especially compared to alot of composers today who just reuse the damn Inception horn.

If there's something I like from the prequels, that's the music, although unfortunately Lucas changing mind till the end of post-production made them use repeated cues from one film to the other (which, in my opinion, is a lack of respect to one of the key figures in the Star Wars saga).

I think it's difficult musically to use themes from the prequels. Almost sure, at least, Across the Stars won't be one of them. Anakin and Padme's romance have no tie-in with the new trilogy I think. The Skywalker theme prevails (main theme) and the force theme of course. Duel of the Fates? Why not? it's probably the one that mades more sense as the meaning of it is quite opened (worked very well both for Darth Maul and Obi-Anakin).

But if there's a strong one that could be back (and developed), that's Palpatine's Teachings from Revenge of the Sith to tie-in with Darth Plagueis. I keep believing Plagueis will be the big, perfect tie-in with the PT, as finding a good villain is always difficult, and Plagueis was just introduced by word.

I expect there will be a few callbacks to the instruments used in the prequels, probably none of the same melodies but we might hear some Phantom Mediocrity-esque choirs.. drums similar to Attack of the CGI and some more horn-driven stuff like in Pussification of the Sith

Mostly though.. I'd like the music in this trilogy to be a lot more percussive and primitive than the last two. Music which harkens back to the brutality of the sand people in ANH, with the climactic and wondrous pieces we got with Empire Strikes Back.
