    edit:
So cawatrooper, please enlighten me on why you are/were excited Thrawn is back?

I don't recall Dark Nest... Star by Star rings a bell, but I don't remember the story at all.... I Jedi needed tedious Mary Sue buildup of Corran Horn ... not sure if I could stomach that on film... Wrait Squadron was awesome, but I'd see it more as what Agenst of Shield is to the Marvel Univserse... still it'd be good TV. Callista rings a bell too, but again, the story is foggy. I haven't read much EU since the late 90s, early 2000s. I read quite a bit of the EU, maybe I happened on the worst ones. Still, in my experience, pretty much every EU story I read had some pretty big issues and would require quite a bit of fixing, in many cases it would only be worth to snatch a couple ideas. But I'll grant you this... with all those ideas, you'd be able to make a pretty epic trilogy or two if you can find a way to put them together that it doesn't feel too contrived.

Just had to point out that this might be one of the only funny things you've ever said. That sentence actually made me laugh at loud.

Hey, that quote feature is pretty cool... Or at least @cawatrooper me if you want a discussion, and not just the last word...

Anyway, regardless of what you said, I personally am glad to see Thrawn back because I've always found him to be a really compelling villain- a more than competent Imperial who not only presents himself as a significant threat, but also alludes to "the unknown" outside of the borders of the known galaxy.

And personally, I've enjoyed his portrayal so far.

Hope that suffices for you. :p

The Original Trilogy, Prequels and EU are what are included in my personal headcanon. The new film canon is interesting, but I see it more as an "Infinities" type story, a "what if this happened instead" kind of thing. Just instead of a comic, it's a multi-billion dollar entertainment franchise. ;)

I don't know if it would change my (mostly neutral) feelings about TLJ, but I would feel a lot better about the future of Star Wars altogether if the decision was made to bring the EU back to life. As it sits, we've got dozens of overarcing storylines that just just get cut off with no proper resolution. What happens with Jaina, Ben and Allana? Or Cade and Ania? What was up with that White Throne? It's really sad that this universe is simply...dead. You know? Whatever potential it had is just dust and echoes.

I have mixed feelings about seeing elements from the EU brought into the new canon. At first, it's kind of exciting to see characters like Thrawn on screen instead of on the page, but eventually the novelty wears off and it's just not the same. There are the little "nods" that can come across as slightly disingenuous, even. Pellaeon? The guy who led the entire Imperial Remnant and signed the peace treaty with the New Republic, bringing an end to the Galactic Civil War? Yeah, he gets one single line of dialog as he dies off-screen... Terrific. But there are other "nods" that aren't quite so bad. Shantipole and the B-wing development pulled from the 90's video game "Star Wars: X-Wing", that tickled me a bit. So, yeah, definitely mixed feelings. ;)

Sorry I read many a EU work. I have no need for them to become Canon in an alternate universe. What purpose does it serve? No one is stopping people from reading the legends material. I have read legends books since they were deemed non canon. I still enjoyed and if you want to believe it is canon go ahead. No one stops you.

Whose brilliant idea was the LEGEND yellow banner on all EU books?
I demand a white banner on all Disney canon books.

    What do we want?
Banner on all STAR WARS canon books.
    When do we want it?
    Now!

yes, the old canon (as I prefer to call it instead legends) is way superior to everything released under new Disney canon. :(:oops::rolleyes:

No. I can pick and choose my canon. I don't need it spoon fed. As far as the saga is concerned, 1 to 6 is it, story over. (For me personally, of course :))

Honestly, as a fan of both canons, I wouldn't mind that.

Helps differentiate the stories. Just as good of an idea as the Legends banner, if you ask me.
