Would you rather have a good girl actor or a bad guy actor?

So many people are bitching about Disney having female leads, but would you rather have a bland, emotionless male actor who is doing the movie for the money. Also the black actors, same thing applies. I'm sick. and tired of people saying that Jyn,Finn or any other of the female or black leads can't act you can easily go on Google Play, and watch one of their other movies https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felicity_Jones#Film and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Boyega#Film I would link the other actors , but that would take way to long, and my point still stands would you rather have another Jake Loyd on your hands? Alright I'm done, and one last thing:

I'd rather have a white straight male lead that i associate with, who would remind the world about our superiority to all the other human beings. DUH /thread

I'm not trying to meet a quota, but I'm still waiting for when there are women of color in lead or supporting roles and not just background characters. (Not counting Lupita)

I just want more Star Wars.

And when I think about Star Wars or watch the movies or talk about it with family and friends, I want all the BS from real life to go away. The meaningless sociopolitical garbage people obsess over nowadays are intruding on my escapist fantasy. That sucks.

i agree with you.. Movies, books and games etc are ways for people to let go after a days work or the stresses of life... If its good or bad acting it doesnt really matter, just as long as you enjoy it.. and if you dont enjoy it dont ruin it for others... just move on to something you do enjoy..

I just want a good movie. Doesn't matter if it is a female lead, male lead, ethnic lead, doesn't matter. But you can have an amazing lead and still get a bad movie if the director, writing, etc, sucks. It takes an ensemble of talent to make a good movie, whether there be a male or female lead.

Whoa, this part matters. I don't care what the actors look like, but I want them to be good actors.

I agree but it's not like Star Wars has a great track record in that regard so far. Other than Ford and McGregor, I'd say almost all of the good or great actors in SW have been in supporting roles.

Im taken a bit out of context here, We enjoyed the prequel movies but i thought there was some bad acting there but i still enjoyed them ( for the most part) what did more harm to those movies was the directing..

Easy, I'd rather have a good actor whatever the race/sex and I want a good story.

But Star Wars should never used on behalf of a political agenda.

I'm sure most people would want the better actor, but then with many things it depends on the target audience. For example, Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds weren't that good when they started, but they were picked due to their 'audience appeal'.

    I take it you didn't like Batman V Superman then :p ;)

Well, I can understand some of the complaints. It sometimes feels like rather than acknowledging that there's a lack of primary female characters in Star Wars and naturally bringing them to the forefront, Lucasfilm feels the need to force them on us. For example, in some of the new books, they expect us to believe that some of the Stormtroopers we saw in the films were female, and that there were females on several in-film Star Destroyers, but for some strange reason we never saw them.

My preference would be an eskimo hermaphrodite. One who's feminine side is longing for an emotional bond to the uncertanties of the future of the force, yet has a masculine side that wants to punish Snoke in an anti-smoking anti- bullying electromatic radiation message which spans the known systems. This type of character is underrepresented and is obvious proof of a Disney/Alien fear of pushing the human mindset too fast in their universalist and technoconglomerant phycosomosis arbituate ways.

PS: All apollo space program partisipants from Neil Armstrong to the janitor are heros. Seriously.

Unfortunetly, what people on both sides don't seem to understand is that making race or gender the focus for any reason is racist/sexist. Improving diversity is fine, but the focus should be on compelling story and characters, not race and gender. As long as there is no evidence to suggest that the best actor for any given role was excluded due to race or gender, then that should be the furthest thing from anyone's mind. You can consider me an idealist if you want (or you may think I'm anything but), but we can't extinguish racism or sexism if race and gender are constantly a focus.

This is the message I agree with. Unfortunately, I don't trust JJ and Kennedy with Star Wars anymore. There seems to be a lot of focus on the social trends these days and I fear the powers that be will feel pressured to insert this into Star Wars. IF it fits the story the writer wanted to tell, great. If it's diversity for the sake of diversity, I have a problem with that. I like what Morgan Freeman said, "to stop racism, stop talking about it. I'll stop calling you a white man, and you stop calling me a black man." In other words, stop focusing on what makes us different, and focus on the art itself, in this case.

If the story is good and the acting is good I don't care what is between their legs.
