You guys are ok not witnessing Rey and Luke's first talk?

My thoughts too. Especially bad if she turns out to be Lukes daughter - we won't ever know his first real reaction.

Give it a few months, the hype will die down and then the film will be soundly judged. People are just giddy because they've seen the falcon and solo again.

 

Myth over plot.
Moment over causality.

Sorry bud, have seen it three times now, it gets better each time and I know a good movie when I see one. Wish you crybabies would stop whining.

If it's an important moment it will be in the movie, if that is necessary they will find a way.

Anyway, I didn't say it wasn't good. It just isn't great - certainly not on par with the OT films.

 

You should. It makes life much simpler and cuts out a lot of deliberation. Wipe them out. All of them.

 

Well, if they skip it, I think I can live with that. If they don't have some really good dialogue it is not a bad idea to just skip it altogether.

It's kinda awkward so... what would they say anyway? "Ummm.... hi...?"

 

I personally think that there is no other way than they will begin the movie with the ordinary classic sequence, where we are in space as a kind of spectator and the Falcon will rush through the screen towards to the planet where Luke is hiding. Basically it will be like if the 7th movie ended before they could even see each other. What do you think?

Yes, perfectly fine with a cliff-hanger ending.

I've seen this negative reaction to other 'cliff-hanger endings' (no pun intended!) in films when watched by Americans. It seems as if all other nationalities around the world can happily accept a cliff-hanger ending - even if its frustrating - as clever way to make one think for possible future outcomes if a sequel film were made.

Americans are different though. They want 'happily ever after' endings with set-in-stone resolved rigid story endings.

It happens in sport too, around the whole world, a tied game of Association Football ending at 90 minutes with a score of 0-0, 1-1, 2-2 etc normally results in both teams earning one point each. Not so in the US in MLS, the tie is broken with a penalty shootout for a more "satisfying" conclusion with one team winning and the other losing. Its a very binary mentality.

 

The first time I've seen it I yelled at the screen "You've got to be kidding JJ!!!" lol.

I'm not sure how any of these are plot holes.

Poe was stranded on Jakku for a while, and only rejoins after the resistance knows that BB is with Han, Finn and Rey at Maz's castle. Remember that he gets back to the resistance base only after the resistance droid phones HQ about BB's whereabouts.

R2 was in low power mode until he was needed. BB roles over to him and is all like "sup dude, know where luke is, we have an incomplete map" R2 was all like "yeah bro, I have the archives of the empire maps in me, I can help out."

Maybe you just head it as blibble bloops, you droid racist.

Poe's role was to help find luke, and Leia wasn't going personally. It isn't a plot hole to send Rey to fetch Luke.
