Back in the old days there were no Internet and if we wanted to talk about star wars,we had to go to each others
house. Now we can go online and talk.Anyway TFA looks like the new generation of fans will love it like i loved ANH when i was 10.

Or another way to think... is how luck are you! You not only got to love it when you are 10 ... but now you get to love it all over again!

Plus... something makes me think that a lot of people on these boards are just as old...

    :) Ha! Great thread!
When i was a kid in the 80's in Sweden i never saw any interviews or anything of the kind . We had the toys and we saw the movies on VHS whenever we got the chance. Didn't see them in the cinema until the special editions years later. Some kid in my neighbourhood knew a guy who was his father's friend or something who worked in media and had lot's of movies at home ( which was unheard off at the time, you rented movies or went to the cinema , you didn't own them!! ) and sometimes up to 8 kids would show up at his door on Saturday mornings asking if we could borrow the movies. We gathered at my brothers friends house (they had a VCR) and watch the movies and then afterwards we would play with the toys in the sandbox.

I remember how we used to trade toys with each other too. You would shake the figure and feel if the limbs where loose or rigid to see if the action figure was "fresh" LOL. You could trade one fresh one for two bad ones. I remember the smell too , a fresh star wars figure smelled like peas.

This thread reminds me of one of the greatest Monthy Python sketches.

Do you guys remember when we were young and used to complain that all any old geezer ever talked about was how old he was now and how much he remembered the good old days? MAN I thought those guys were annoying when I was young.

Reality check: We're the old geezers now, fellow OT'ers ;)

I do kind of miss going into a movie with an aura of mystery about it, no matter what it was, because info seemed so hard to come by. Heck, I even miss having to actually go to the theater to see a trailer rather than being able to watch it online until I'm sick of it.

No. Because those old geezers were WWII vets or survivors of concentration camps and would of kicked the ever-living blast out of us if we mouthed off to them.

And then when we got home our parents would of whipped the blast out of with a belt just for good measure and embarrassing them in public.

Well... I suppose it is not considered socially acceptable to give kids these days even the slightest pat to rebuke them, let alone the smack upside the head or straight-up belt whooping I'd get when I was a kid.

LOL! While you were typing that I was already amending my post with the belt whipping part!
Kids today have it so easy!

You're not allowed to rebuke them. It psychologically scars them. Didn't you know?

I had to go my grandmother's house to make phone calls. And our phones were attached to the walls and couldn't be carried around in your pocket. Also, it snowed a lot more back then, and life was harder in general. Did I tell you of the time I had to scare off a hungry bear on Christmas? What do you mean bears hibernate during winter? They sure didn't when I was your age, son!

I have an old newspaper clipping from when my grandmother won a contest where her prize was a CAR came and picked her up and drove her to the far side of Jamacia's island so she could see a moving picture show!

I heard a lot of stories growing up about traveling to go use a phone (at the trading post/post office) ;)
