I think you make a good point. While I wouldnt call that "bantha poodoo" with Luke, more a misunderstanding. Many people backed him up when that came out. It turned out no one knew what they were talking about.

He is simply reporting the facts available to him, and no one has the complete picture. None of us should take this as definitive truth.

 

Jason Ward & MSW have been the #1 source for Ep. 7. He's been spot on, virtually every time. He's quickly becoming somewhat legendary. Anyone who doesn't like him or his methods are clearly misinfo agents or trolls (no disrespect to anyone who has had quarrels with him). I'm just calling it like I see it. From 2012 til now, he's been the most consistent. Definitely the Harry Knowles of the sequels!

 

It may not be cannon anymore but I had read something that a life debt extends to members of that person's family.

They may not know who is behind Kylo Ren's helmet/mask.

It seems that a good way to start off this PT and spin-offs would to play it safe for the first movie. Han's death would overshadow anything else that might happen and he is the biggest box office star in the cast. Hammel said that he would not have signed on for these films if not for Ford and Fisher, so that is still giving me some hope. The Empire could always take a wounded Han into custody if you insist on using a rose colored blast-shield.

No, none of us have been spot on. He's got great track record but I'd wait to put him on that pedestal until after we have seen the film. Just sayin'

That said, I've been wrong. I've been right. I always say when I know I'm right, I think I'm right, and I might not be right.

My stuff is kind of an evolving puzzle piece. What I'm working off now is pretty freakin' solid though.

 

This movie will mark the first time I will have ever cried in public as an adult. Damn it. What is it about this movie? The initial announcement made me choke up, the teaser made me choke up (that Falcon shot, though), the non-confirmed speculation is getting me worked up...

What's going to be worse? Chewie's reaction. For the love of god this is going to be rough.

I don't think anybody is arguing avout Ward's reporting chops. He has definitely provided spot in info. His site can often be fun to read. The problem I think people have is HOW he behaves and goes about his reporting.

Tone can be difficult to convey on the internet and can lead to misunderstandings. Yesterday I was pointing out that speculation is fun, but it's healthy to remember that we are never truly "sure of" things until we see them. My usage of quotes there was misunderstood I believe. Also what I was referencing was also mistakenly recieved. No big deal, I have mad respect for everyone here. To me Ward's reports often seem littered with self-pats on the back. Look at his bylines "Take it or Leave it" (isn't that a given?) Not to mention, the above acceptance of how "legendary" he's becoming.

While written form makes tone more difficult to discern, a podcast is another story. Listening to "Now This is Podcasting", it's quite clear that Ward loves him some Ward.

Furthermore he's claimed not to care about clicks and yet repeatedly mentions them in his posts. It's like a person with a drinking problem who keeps reminding you they don't have one (while lifting their 3rd beer in an hour). Then he gets into a ridiculous twitter war with Viral over a stolen scoop (what happened to not caring about clicks?). It seemed to me that Viral was more than friendly and reasonable with him. He's snapped at people here, just for disagreeing with him.

What makes this site stand out above the rest, imho, is this very Cantina. This site is dedicated to building a community, encouraging fan interaction and bring us closer together ... not making "legends" out of anyone. His site doesn't even allow room for comments (his choice of course.) I'll still read Ward's site because he does provide good material (despite the occasional eye roll inducing self praise).

I'll probably get some heat for writing this. That's fine, I can take it ... generally I'm just trying to stand up for people who have been unnecessarily rebuked on our forum for disagreeing with him. I stand by my words. A previous poster mentioned something about people being trolls if they question Ward. Strange ... I always thought those who brought forth their opinions in a civil and respectful manner, with legitimate reasoning were in fact the opposite of trolls.

Anyways, rant over. I'm sure some of his behavior is a defensive response to unfair trolling heading his way, but some of the responses from his camp, only add fuel to the fire. This isn't a Ward bashing thread (not trying to bash, just saying how I really feel), it's a rumors thread. I look forward to reading some more of the great speculation already evident here.
