It got nominations in the categories it deserved them for.

As much as I love it, it isn't a Best Picture film. It could've easily got a nomination, but it would never have won, The Revenant is going sweep the damn thing.

Star Wars will win at least one Oscar, calling it now. I think it'll be for Best Original Score too.

Mad Max got 10 nominations. I feel like they will get something. I haven't seen that film. But I feel like I really need to. For that type of film, that's a ton of nominations. So cudos to those guys!

I wouldn't be surprised to see it go to John Williams as the gentleman is getting older and his health is questionable.

That or a lifetime achievement award, of which he is certainly deserving. He has been nominated for 50 Oscar's, second only to Walt Disney, and has won 5.

I won't root for this movie. Not for any of the nominations. I might as well be honest about how I feel.

The academy is very tricky. I would say it is because the move has really great performers. But there is no clear person to nominate for any role. Literally everybody in this movie performed well. This could split votes between members among members of the academy. For instance, Adam Driver and Harrison Ford could qualify for best supporting actor. They both could get nominated by different people and this hurts both their chances.

At the same time, the reality is everybody in this movie acted beautifully. But it's hard to justify that Adam Driver performed better than:

Christian Bale – The Big Short

    Tom Hardy – The Revenant

    Mark Ruffalo – Spotlight

Mark Rylance – Bridge of Spies

    Sylvester Stallone – Creed

If he gets an award, I think it will be in honor for all of his work, not because of TFA. I haven't seen those other movies yet, so it's hard for me to justify. But I'm not sure TFA was my favorite.

Because all the other ones had better performances.

Apart from The Revenant, which comes out here tomorrow, I've seen all those films with actors nominated, and they definitely all deserve to be above Daisy and Adam, as much as I loved those two.

As someone who studies film and has done a lot of camerawork and some cinematography, I must disagree. The cinematography in Mad Max is much better. The Production Design is equal.

For me personally Mad Max has had the best cinematography this year. (I see The Revenant tomorrow so that may change)

This exactly! Best newcomer for John or Daisy I think is warranted here!

Does it really matter if TFA wins or loses any kind of award? We either love TFA or hate it and a shiny metal statue isn't going to change that. ;)

Depends if it's a Razzie or not.

Wow, really bad news for the hater crowd. The most nominated Star Wars film since A New Hope. They'll have to put in overtime today thinking of new idiotic reasons to hate this movie that has been so well received by the professional film community.

Yea I saw that one, most awards shows I thought had that as a category, Oscars don't play that!
