Or might the location at the lose of the film be where the new Resistance base will relocate to and be where Luke has been.

 

We know the from the JTTFA series The Weapon a Jedi that the Resistance which Leia leads (Moving Target) and Poe Dameron is a part of regard Luke as a hero.

From John Boyega's comments, the First Order members have been taught that like Luke Skywalker is the enemy.

Rey's isolation on Jakku keeps her mostly in the dark about much of this. She's not initially involved in either side in the two space military forces like Poe and Finn are.

"Who is Luke Skywalker?" It's about Rey learning who Luke Skywalker is.

 

Regarding what @MagnarTheGreat said about Rey being the only one without clear allegiance towards any party, that also interestingly sets her up in a situation where she could be the one who has to choose between the two: FO and Resistance (or, light and dark).

At least based on the poster where she is placed in alignment with Kylo hints something of this as well.

 

Jason say's that Rey owns a flight simulator on his latest podcast. Sounds a bit weird to me.

 

I posted about this in the general info thread. He actually said that she built one out of savaged parts. That we would not see or hear about it in the movie and it would likely be in other material that is released. I would think maybe in the Before the Awakening book. Maybe she builds it in the hope that one day she could fly off Jakki

 

I listened to the podcast maybe I interpreted it wrong - if true it would be a nice bit of merchandise to have. I thought he was saying she already had one, not one made by her.

 

I don't think that Rey is as alone as she thinks she is. I think the Max Von Sydow character is not just a fellow who collects artifacts, but might be someone who watches out for her in some way. They've been very evasive regarding his character's name, which makes me think it's someone we'd recognize. When Kylo torches his village, Poe might not be the only one watching the whole thing go down.... there's that guy in a robe with his mechanical hand on R2D2 who might be watching, too.

It's also very convenient that the MF happens to be on Jakku, that Poe (who works for Leia) shows up there as well, and that Finn, Rey and BB8 happen to encounter Han as soon as they leave Jakku.

Gosh, it's almost as if she's being watched.

 

I went back and listened to that part again and he stated that he does not know if it is true but he heard it through the grapevine that Rey has a simulator at her house and it is made out of scavenged stuff.

 

Well, they did set up the idea of flight simulators in Lost Stars. And her having a simulator would explain how she manages to fly the Falcon on Jakku.

 

Oh, right! I had forgotten about that. Those books are a treasure trove of little bits of information (if I can remember it!). Got to get back to reading them.

Asked where Rey would fit into the OT Ridley says Rey is a new type of character that compares most in terms of story to Luke Skywalker from the OT minus the starting with a family aspect, in regard to secrecy she says that the emotional story of the movie will surprise, and she also doesn't answer the question specifically asking how Rey and Han meet up other than to say he's a part of the journey.

This is from me. This is why I think John Williams already spoiled us with Rey being Luke's daughter

 

They changed the rhythm a little bit in the theme that was in that tv spot. I don't think that is Rey's theme, honestly. But it's interesting that they did try and fit it in to Luke's theme and Darth Vader's. It's quite mesmerizing.

 

It's actually me playing with the themes.
