Why is she livivng on, what we presume is, Tatooine, a desert planet in the outer rim? If she is a daughter of Han and Leia and at least one of those is still leading the new republic (or plays a prominent role) wouldn't she be livivng somewhere else, closer to them? Did they have a quarrel of sorts and did she leave? Are Han and Leia divorced and did she go with her father to this backwater planet? Did her parents, purposefully hide her there?

And if so, why? It must have something to do with the force. Maybe the new republic grew so fearful of the force that it was outlawed? Far fetched, I know. Or someone in the galaxy is still hunting down force users order 66 style.

That's why I think she is a Skywalker, force sensitive and in hiding: Hamill stated the new stories deal with the offspring of the big three, the saga has always been tied to the Skywalkers so that's hardly a surprise. Her last name is purposefully being kept a secret (or it's one of those dirty Bad Robot tricks to mislead us geeks), and there is an unconfirmed but to my mind believable rumour that Luke is in hiding. If indeed he is then there you have an excellent reason to hide your daughter. He doesn't want her to fall into the hands of who or whatever he is hiding for.

 

I think she's hiding/being pursued because she could also be used to activate the superweapon on the snow planet and/or Driver wants to corrupt her.

That will make the relationship between her and Finn very vexed, since Finn was tasked with locating her for Christie/Driver.

 

I used to be in the 'Rey's a Solo' camp, but for the last few months I've moved more and more to the 'Skywalker' camp. Initially it was because of her looks and stuff, but for some reason her being a Skywalker just seems, I don't know... Right.
Or maybe I'm wrong and this post will be laughed at come Dec. 18 2015, who knows?

 

I think it's more poignant if daddy Han gets offed in the story than Uncle Han. Either way still more meaningful than that guy Luke barely knew in ANH dying or Qui-Gon Jinn clocking out.

 

Especially if Han dies protecting Rey or because of overlooking Kylo Ren's faults. Or both at the same time.

I don't think many of us are prepared for the deaths of the big 3 as the series goes on. Then again, I think one character might make it through all three (probably Leia).

 

I guess if they decide to go all 'rehash' on us, she will be a farm girl on taTooine and meet an old female Jedi and take off with a pirate chick and she-Wookie.

Lawd I hope they don't mimic ANH that closely, but you get it right? I mean you get what I'm saying, yeah? You don't? Really? It's pretty clear brah. I'm just reversing the sexes....like Vader would be Vadette. Honestly? Child please!! This is low hanging fruit! Let it go!

As a dad who owns a female human, it would be much more of a thing if 'daddy Han' bites the dust than 'Uncle Han'. If my daughter died (and she will), I'd be crushed. If my niece died (and she will), I'd be crushed, but less so.

Story wise, if daddy-x dies, it's more of a buzz kill than Uncy Han 'exiting stage left.'

She could be on the run from over protective mom and dad. Think about it, she is the daughter of Leia and Han. She has heard of the great adventures but sheltered and proyected by her parents from danger. She runs off and hopes to live as a pirate like her dad, you know craving adventure and excitement. But ends up needing to work as a junker to make the dough.

 

I'm still hoping they don't go the deadbeat/ignorant dad route when recycling ideas. Maybe that would work better with a villain.

I'm surprised there are no polls or super bets in Vegas on if she will be a Solo or Skywalker.
