Rey is the offspring of Leia and Han

If she's Leia's daughter she is STILL a Skywalker. I don't like the implications that, because she might be born from a female Skywalker, she isn't as much a part of that family.

 

you know that when somebody says Skywalker they mean Luke's child, if they wanted to say Leia's child they would say Solo
what you mean is Skywalker bloodline character which is different thing, so I think when Bluemilk said Skywalker he meant Luke'schild.

 

That's true Worship. Genes are more important than names. Especially if you're of the Skywalker lineage.
But still, it's such an iconic name. Rey Skywalker sounds better than Rey Solo.
I do have a sneaking suspicion her full backstory wont be revealed entirely in episode 7. She could be named Rey 'Whatever' only to be revealed that she's one of the big three's offspring in 8.

Also I dont agree with that wich alot seems to be saying or at least thinking that this would be "too obvious" or " formulaic".

There is a difference between the generic, the formulaic, and the Classic.

I also feel that it fits right into the times of female liberation, or maybe even like sorts of the point where the girls have "made it".

I mean in our collective psyche.

I am an romantic though.

 

I still believe Rey is actually "Kira Rey Solo" and her brother is "Kylo Ren....Solo".

 

Hey guys I figured it out. Rey's last name isn't Solo or Skywalker....
Her name is Rey Mysterio!

 

It may be intentionally from the film makers standpoint similar. However in the trailer she is wearing a sort of Kapri pant which is seen on the figure as well look mid calf. I think the flowing clothes around her waise are a scarf and jacket tied around her waist or tucked in the belt.

 

I like the idea that Kylo (driver) is Rey's brother. In that way Rey and Finn can get close friendship until Finn faces Kylo. Who will Rey choose;.her friend or her brother?

 

If he is her brother, think about the Han, Luke, Leia dynamic. The "drama" it would cause. Finn may face Kylo and "lose" and then Luke steps in and shows his nephew "the true nature of the force"!

 

Well look at the concept art leak from awhile back the one with they guy holding the lightsaber to the girl's throat. Now imagine he is her brother, now imagine Luke and Han are there, now imagine Finn is there and he and Rey seem to be hitting it off with some romantic chemistry. Layer on layer of tension. It may never happen the characters might be completely different but that is an intense thought.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums and this is my first post, so forgive me for any mishaps.

Anyway, I've been lurking here awhile, and sitting on some information I got from a friend. Even I'm treating this with a grain of salt, as I'm the third person in line to hear this stuff. The telephone game can easily get stuff distorted. As with most rumors, possible spoilers.

Anyway, here it is:

Rey is in orphan, and spent her younger years living with a group of alien hermits on Tatooine. They're all the same species, and kind of act like Yoda. We've seen them in two different pieces of leaked concept art. The group is led by Andy Serkis' character.

Their way of raising Rey is very frustrating to her, and she eventually leaves them to live on her own. After this, they cut off all direct contact with her, while watching her from afar. Her only link to the aliens now is Lupita Nyong'o's character who runs a shop at a marketplace Rey frequents.

This all happens before the events of the movie, and is only mentioned through dialogue.

Early in the movie, Serkis' character senses that there will be an attack on his people, and gives Lupita Nyong'o an artifact to keep safe. Later on, a squad of stormtroopers (with Finn a part of the squad) burns down his village, killing all of the aliens except Lupita's character who was not present, and Serkis' character whom they take prisoner.

After Finn defects and meets Rey, Lupita's character contacts them and gives Rey the artifact, which is Luke's lightsaber.

Again, PLEASE take this with a grain of salt. I heard this from a friend of a friend, so the information is more than likely distorted in some way.

 

Could you be an agent of the Empire spreading mis-information throughout the galaxy perhaps...? It does sound better than the whole hand being found though!
