This is my first thread so I apologize if I placed it wrong. I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.

I've been thinking about what the next, post Rebels, animated entry should or could be.

It seems natural to me they do a show on the events leading up to Force Awakens. And what Luke and Ben (Solo?) was doing for those five years or more. In the vein of Clone Wars, we could see the events that led Ben to the dark side, why Han and Leia sent him to Luke. And see the formation of Luke's new Jedi Order. And post Empire galaxy struggles.

I realize this may have to come out post The Last Jedi as not to spoil anything.

Galactic Nights? Base it about Luke, Ben, Han, Leia, and others. The fledging republic. The moments when Ben found out who he was, who his grandfather was. Snokes betrayal.

I could see this as being really interesting, and seeing Luke and Ben work together looking for the secrets they found about the Jedi could be awesome.

See Yoda, Anakin, Vader?, Kenobi in ghost form. Baby Rey!

    Thoughts?

Think I've already described my thoughts in another thread, but again - Ahsoka standalone animated series, I'm not sure about timeline, 'cause now we all know she is alive (at least for now), so we can only speculate (would be great to see her trapped on Malachor and escaping then). Another thought - Luke in between Ep V and VI, how did he become such a badass at the beginning of ROTJ :D. C'mon, he acts like a dark side of the Force user entering Jabba`s palace, but he is not so mastered and self-assured at all back in ESB. I don`t believe Kenobi taught him (obi-wan ghost)that.

I've listened to interesting fan-based story somewhere on Youtube about how Ahsoka meets Luke a few minutes right after Ep V ends, and first part of that story is awesome - personal opinion, but not another two.

It is obvious, at least for me, there is a place for shows between Ep V and VI (just open canon timeline on wookipedia and see).

    Great thought, +1

While I love both the Clone Wars and Rebels show, I have to say that I'm getting a little tired of always having to see stories from a prequel timeline. I would love to see a new series in the current timeline of the sequels. Sure I don't mind if it's during the events of TFA or maybe a little before but I really would like to see more of the state of the galaxy since TFA showed us very little of that. Just imagine an episode where we can see Kylo and his knights take down Luke's school. How the First Order/New Republic were formed, How Han lost the Falcon, How Maz Kanata found Luke's lightsaber ect would make great episodes or story arcs. That and giving us a better view at the new characters from TFA like Unkar Plutt, Sidon Ithano, Phasma and many more. Maz Kanata is a wonderful character to explore as her events can take place during both the OT and the PT!

That it'd be about Luke and Ben Solo, or start slightly before that and tell us how Luke's Jedi Order was being made.

That's pretty much what I laid out above. I do think the events right before TFA would be great. A Ben Solo and Luke story.

This is along the lines of what I was thinking. So far we've had an animated series for two of the three eras of Star Wars films, the Prequel era (The Clone Wars) and the Original Trilogy era (Rebels). To me, especially since we're almost two films into the new trilogy, it would make sense for LucasFilm to want to flesh out the new Sequel era more.

I'd love to see a post ROTJ series. With no star wars con in 2018, when will this get announced? Will there be a big gap between Rebels and the new show?

Chances are they will do something with the 30 years between ROTJ and TFA. That's one of the reasons why the gap is so large. On top of books and video games and whatnot, theres a lot of ground to cover but the issue is that either they will use established characters or add characters for the sake of the tv show. From TFA FORWARD this is pretty much a soft reboot anyways they will stay away OT/PT in general.

I honestly am ready for something a little more mature in the animated realm. It seems that every time they bring out an animated series it is geared for an audience 10 years younger than the last series audience was. Give me Star Wars in the vein of Vampire Hunter D animation!

Would be great, just don`t forget that it won`t fit with animated princesses on Disney XD or wherever, mental issues guaranteed :D

If it was aimed at the same maturity as TCW, i would be happy. That felt like a good compromise between maturity and kid friendliness. It definitely felt more mature than rebels (not sure if art style was a factor). Of course my favourite age rating would be for a mature audience in order to allow more adult/explicit scenes to be shown, but it will almost certainly be made for the same age rating as TCW and Rebels.

I agree with @Hannibal41, I'd love to see something that could be as mature as TCW, especially because it would be a huge waste of potential if Ben's fall to the dark side was told with the tone and maturity level of Rebels. With a more mature rating they could his flesh out his character just like TCW fleshed out Anakin.

I'd love to see a new animated series fill in the gaps of the Original trilogy and tell us what happened between ANH, TESB and ROTJ.

I really enjoyed Shadows of the Empire and it would be great to see something like that turned into a TV show, Piince Xizor trying to outwit Darth Vader and plotting to kill Luke Skywalker, Boba Fett and IG-88 battling it out for Han Solo, Bounty hunters, Black Sun, what more could you want?

I would like an animated series based on the current timeline. While I enjoy TFA, there is something that has been bugging me for quite some time. I'm not going to debate if the movie is good or bad but the thing that I really have noticed is that there hasn't been much non protagonist hype as there was when Lucas did SW. For all that many fans say that they just love TFA, I haven't seen characters take off and have a place in the hearts of fans as they did in the past. Have we really come to a point where we simply like the movie because it is SW but we deny ourselves that it just doesn't sink in like the OT and the PT did?

Take for example characters like Sidon Ithano, The Frigosian Cryptosurgeons, Constable Zuvio and Bazine Netal. Very interesting characters yet it seems that nobdy even cared about them. Sarco Plank was the main villain of The Weapon of a Jedi and fans could care less. Back in the day, fans WANTED more Boba Fett, they WANTED more Aurra Sing and books about minor characters like the Tales books just flew of the shelves. I have met tons of fans who when asked who is their favorite character, apart from the classic Luke, Han, Chewie Leia, you get things like Fett, Wedge, Bossk, Plo Koon, Ackbar, Mara Jade, Thrawn, Mace Windu, Kyle Katarn, Cad Bane any many more. I know fans that loved seeing their favorites in the CW and Rebels yet TFA gave us so many interesting characters yet nobody seems to care.

Apart from Rey, Finn, Poe, Kylo Ren and Snoke, TFA fans seem to care nothing for the wonderful beings of this new era of SW and it pains me to see that even after a few authors tried to expand these great characters stories, fan response has been very bad. Sure they read whatever book comes their way but where is the love and the desire to see more of Quiggold, Phasma, The Guavian Death Gang and the bunch of creatures in Maz Kanata's Castle?

I want to see these characters take life in an animated series! I want to see Sidon as the next Boba Fett! I want to find out that a simple looking alien like Crusher Roodown has this awesome backstory but it's breaking my heart just like Padme to see that for all they say they love the new SW canon, the same amount of love as before just isn't there. Yes the movies TFA and RO are great. Yes we enjoy many aspects of them but so many characters that could be awesome are just gone and forgotten as fans already kicked them aside as they wait for TLJ to hit the theatre.

I was mind blown when I heard that Disney was going to give us a new SW movie every year yet now after two movies one after the other I can see how this hurts SW. We will never have time to fully fall in love with many of the new wonders that we are getting because just after a book, comic or episode of an animated series, we are already looking forward to what's coming in a few months.

Sorry I wrote so much but I just wanted to express what's in my heart.

Many of the comics and several of the books have been placed in this time period. I am happy for them to move to other time periods, but a series focusing on the underworld and bounty hunters would be cool.

I am pretty easy, so if any of the ideas presented by you good folks above me happened, I'd be all-in and waiting with anticipation. BUT, if they asked me I'd tell them that I would love to get a canon show (cartoon and/or live-action) to go back 1000's of years before even Revan. I'd love to see Jedha in it's prime. I'd love to see the formation of the first Jedi Order and Sith Empires even.

I just REALLY have a desire to go wayyyy back away from Solos, Skywalkers and even Revan and get all new characters.

    Just saying....

I want to see an animated series in the style of TCW centering around the formation of the New Republic, with characters such as Mon Mothma, Leia, Ackbar and others.

Personally, I would love to see two eras be explored. First, the era of The Old Republic, to see the galaxy before the Skywalkers, with different designs to technology and to see familar locations thousands of years earlier would be so interesting and new. You could even expand on the ideals of different force wielders not just the Sith and Jedi.

The second era would be everything from the end of ROTJ to the Battle of Jakku. I limit it to this time period because if I am correct the remenants of the Empire fled into the Unknown Regions after this...so who would the Rebels/ New Republic go against after this...there were warnings about The First Order but to me the first battle between them was during The Force Awakens. So those 6 years between ROTJ and Jakku could show the Rebels fighting the rest of the Empire who maybe a little more dangerous because there is no central leader and the show could see the return of all the heros we know from the OT.
